  • Is it possible to make dark, cold winters in a northern country into an exciting experience that brings people together? According to co-founder of light festival Nobel Week lights, Lara Szabo Greisman, the answer is; yes! With the help of interactive light art installations, she seeks to make people’s automatic pilot glitch and shares her own examples, as well as from others, on how we make parts of the city belong to us through different events no matter the time of year. Lara Szabo Greisman is the co-founder and executive producer of Nobel Week Lights - a light festival launched in 2020 in Stockholm as a way to bring people together for a safe but spectacular cultural experience during the global pandemic.
Lara specializes in producing large scale light art installations in public space as well as bringing high quality cultural experiences to new audiences.
In 2010, Lara moved to Stockholm from Vancouver, Canada to attend Stockholm University's International Master’s Program in Curating, including Art Management and Law. Before founding Nobel Week Lights, Lara was Cultural Attaché at the French Embassy in Sweden, where she worked to build professional opportunities for French artists in the country. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
