Heard this in Space, Ibiza, 89. It was about to enter the charts so was still a club and pirate radio tune. Most of the crowd had been out all night and were a bit war torn to say the least. People around the place were still dancing but many of us had taken to the giant steps at the back and were just watching the madness play out. Then, about 11 in the morning, the DJ threw it down from the top, no mixing. Before the sound of the first kick drum rang out on that monumental sound system the whole club was up, a tidal wave of re energized morning maniacs hit the dance floor, everyone was up, nobody remained on their backsides. Such an incredible thing to witness and the memory has been with me for over thirty years.
What a great story! I wish I’d been there to experience it.
A real story for your grandkids
Great story!
Visit the space in 2009…years after my beloved Eurodance-Era.
was pretty expensive and the crowd was divided to lame ass snobs and real electronic music lovers.
Carl Cox was kind of resident and moby was on the turntables as well.
Nice night though. But nothing compared to real techno in Berlin Clubs and the early loveparades.
And nowadays it s all over.
I was living in Puerto Rico and heard this song for the first time at a club ironically called Ibiza in 1989.
I went to Ibiza in summer ’88 - innocent 21 years old, and I had a blast. Never went to Space, but to Amnesia which blew my mind, and Ku Bar. It was the Summer of Love for me, and electronic music really kicked off shortly afterwards. What a fantastic time it was. Everybody was so into it all, the music, the vibes, the Class A‘s and the afterhours in Germany. Tresor in Berlin in October ’93 Oooh My God! 😊
I moved to London in ’94 and lived in the U.K. until 2003 and I wouldn’t wanted to miss that time in my life. I met so many amazing people, clubbing was so much fun and dancing all weekend long.
I have been to Ibiza so many times, and still there is this vibe going on. Now at 55 the importance of clubbing has worn off a bit, which is not a bad thing whatsoever. I’ve seen it all, and I am so grateful for that. But I’d never say no to a get together with my dearest friends and having fun, loads of whatever, talking shyte for hours and dance, then just chilling together and enjoying the experience being with your soul family.
If you haven’t seen it, check out ‚Looking - the promised land‘ snippet her on UA-cam. It is capturing the vibes so beautifully!
And people, take care of each other. There is only one thing that is relevant - and important. And that is L.O.V.E ❤ Not the common romantic kind, but the unconditionally one. The one where you see that everybody of us is struggling, and you simply understand and support und care. Never forget, we all come from the same source, we are all so very loved, and we all go back there someday!
Next is " Snap- Rhythm is a Dancer"
I created and master that already
Who didn't ;-) with.... Tx81z!!
nah, darude sandstorm
Check my page, I already did it ;)
U can feel it in the bum! ... oops, I mean air! :o Fk yeah 👌
Really cool how talented this guy is. This is much harder than he makes it look.
its not hard, just take 10+ years everyday to study sound design.
I'm a bit surprised he can so confidently identify a particular synth that's being used
The thing that's clear, besides the mastering of the instruments, is his fine ear. Congratulations!
this song is not hard to remake
the hard part is to find accurate synths and drums
it's a true knowledge, espacially when he craft the bass. Pads and synth drum in classic house are pretty simple , the bass layering is very fine to get
9:55 recreates lead synth perfectly in 15 seconds 👏️😂️
For sure he figured out how to play that already in the 80s.
Its strange that when I first heard this song in the late 80's I thought it was a bit minimalist and saw it as a degradation of music. Now I can appreciate it as a classic. The reason is how much more minimalist music has got 30 years later.
Simon Martin haha I had similar feeling when I first heard Usher’s „Yeah!” and Ciara’s „Goodies” songs, at first I thought „what the hell, this sounds like techno”. I hated the sound. But after some time, when I got used to it, I actually started loving it, and I started to appreciate the minimalist nature of these beats - now I say, that it requires skills and good ear to be able to compose minimalist beats that will sound good.
@【 s l o w b r e w 9 5 】 Exactly, when there are only few elements in the song, they really have to be selected carefully, otherwise the song will sound less than perfect.
@Luke I think the concept of something being repetitve was annoying then but now its an ingrained theme that reminds me of dancing back then.
Me with new hiphop
You got so close, youtube flagged it as the karaoke version lol.
Exactly!!
@@Doctormix good job dude
You could complain, that they stole your work.
I kind of gave up on my dream of music when my grandmother passed away in 2018 however since discovering your videos you inspired me to get back into the game I've been watching you since earlier this year and I usually don't stick with a you tube channel for long but there are few that I stick with and yours is definitely one of them
Every time you get going, I immediately start dancing. I’m 40 now and remember when this song came out, like it was yesterday. How can anyone not love this perfect pop/dance song?!?
"I bet you're singing this in you head" WRONG, I was singing it out loud! Once again, amazing video!
Hahahaha!!!
🔥🔥🔥
Do you know the story behind this? i'm from Belgium, met someone who knows the maker. He was working in the studio on this track. A friend came buy, asked what he was doing, and he said he was working on some track that wasn't really going anywhere. So the friend asked if he could mess about with it, so he edited an alternate mix, changed some of the arrangements, and they both decided it wasn't going to get any better, maybe good for a B-side somewhere. 30 years later the guy is still earning a living from that track.
True but the vocal makes this track what it was 30 years ago without that vocal it's just a slow backing beat track with little going on.
I bought the makers juno 106 😜
@@JunoT106 cool dude. Any luck..
The beat is super fire!!! But the vocals send it to the moon!!
@@92kris Agree! Ya Kid K did a great job writing and singing 💪
Thanks for doing this one. I went to my first warehouse rave in 1989 which changed my life forever. I remember walking across a field with my mates to the car making our way home and all I could here was this baseline in the distance. Whenever I here it, it takes me right back!
You have the ears equivalent of the finest chefs pallet. Your musical mixing is the equivalent to chemical perfection! Absolute magic Doctor Bravo!
You’ve brought so much joy to my depression tonight. I found myself smiling and bopping all the way through. Thank you.
I'm with you bro! Cheers from Costa Rica
Hang in there bro! After seven years anti depressants were the rescue for me. Give it a try if you haven’t already. You can always stop taking them. You got nothing to loose but time.
My first song ever played on my first desktop pc..It was in format of S3M. The sound came from the internal speaker..It was a huge thrill to hear it from a pc(not radio) during those years of technology.
Brilliant. I love Claudio - his passion and excitement about recreating these classic tracks is a joy to watch
My first time watching your channel. First, you have an amazing personality. Second, you’ve taken something that’s really quite complicated, reverse engineered it, and reassembled it piece by piece in a seemingly effortless way - though I think it’s that your extremely talent and knowledge of these instruments, software, and devices that makes it “seem” effortless. I’m blown away. Very impressive.
Could you rebuild "Children" from Robert Miles? It would be awesome.
I vote for that too
There is a midi file for children all he would need to do is update that midi file
Yeah dats gread.
Robert miles "children " All the song (piano , pads , organ ) provide KURZWEIL "K2000" synthétiser
laurent lorenzo, I think the only problem is there’s also an acoustic guitar in there. It can be synthesized, but it maybe won’t sound exact. I happened to rebuild songs too. Now I’m thinking about rebuilding, Robert Miles - Children. 🤔
Please rebuild the "rhythm is a dancer"
Felipe Pereira it’s on my channel
Outstanding as usual. I didn't realize how many layers to this song there were. You captured each one with perfection.
You are an absolute example for me to look upward to as beginning sound engineer!! Love all the remakes and so learnfull
So funny when you are so happy of you after finding out the perfect sound clapping in your hand. I am doing a bit the same watching the video. You really communicate your passion. Like it.
Snap - I've got the power... next please!
And rythm is a dancer :)
Just caught this video. Absolutely amazing what he's done, makes it look so easy. I used to love Technotronic, saw them live at Scarborough open theatre a few years ago
Dr Mix is such a legend. I love his enthusiasm and passion for music.
Would love to see doctor mix Recreate some depeche mode
Ditto!⛓👑🌹📢⚒
Yeaaahh Enjoy the Silence(Devotional tour mix)
Yeeah! I wanna hear that!!
Yes... Behind the Wheel !
Super old skool like JCGE maybe? :)
Wow! Very impressive ear and instrument recognizing / isolating skills!
The Doctor is a great musical detective as well! lol
Thumbs up! 👍🏼from 🇨🇦
Im a designer, I don’t make music but amazing talent like this is so inspirational. Awesome vid!
I've gone through a lot of your videos lately and have to say I'm Impressed. Love it!
Fast becoming my favourite production channel.

i love how much FUN you are having ! it's infectious
That was a good album ! After many years of not hearing it i got again and realized its actually solid album even today .
Damm im in my early 60's. 'Pump Up The Jam' was on my steady DJ rotation, and damm if you didn't rebuild it spot on. Also as a bassist and keyboardist, in your videos you're teaching me all of the in's and out's of working with synths
This song is just a classic! And you did such a good job!!!
This totally gives me a new appreciation for the complexities in genres like House music. It's still not my thing, but I can appreciate why people are into it.
amazing your job, you can hear all instruments and can separate them, this is amazing! spetacular job! keep doing this!
What an analithic hearing! You blow my mind. Impressive skills...
I miss this sound ! I want to go back to those years.
Next Episode: BLUE MONDAY from New Order. Finally...
All Oberheim DMX.
Point Blank have already done that, so I doubt he’d compete
point blank music do that
yes!
this tune is simple but so groovy, love the bass, great energy - genius
Guitar is my instrument but I adore watching you deconstruct and reconstruct these anthemic synth tracks. Thanks for making the effort and thanks for sharing sir.
Amazing work 😲 ive got their first album "Technotronic" on cassette, that track was really big here in Chile, and all their songs are still played, specially at FM PLUS from Antofagasta. Saludos desde Chile and thank you so much for rebuild this one 🐀✨🇨🇱
WENA PO
Weeeena won oh!
Cassette? El wn anticuao!! 😂
Great Job. Thanks. Please make Robert Mile's Children
oh yes, make it for us
I love that one.
That's easy... Most sounds are K2000 presets.
*Miles'
Fantastic, you can feel the power behind his sound..this is KICK ASS!!!!!!!!!
Como sempre, "Perfeito". Parabéns!
90s dance music is my favorite
Yeah!!
It's from 1989 :)
Alex Party next
Sick! Petshop boys west end girls would be nice.
Excellent song +1
+1
Yes!
@Marvin Bennett And what the hell do YOU know? It's West END girls.. not west in girls.
Well, I must watch all of the Doctor Mix's deconstructions because I love to listen the synths one by one and how he does it. My re-watch starts here and it'll go further with ALL of them
i keep the entire video just for the well edited this video are, man this is a visual exitation and perfect combine with the art of reloading
I was 15y.o. sunday afternoon in disco and this tune hit the dancefloor and nothing was no longer the same
С нетерпением жду новые видюшки! Браво,сэр!
Most excellent! I got lost in the mix that I forgot that it was only for a few measures. Well done!
Belgium was always at the cutting edge of electronic club music. Brilliant! This record was revolutionary. Changed the sound of the records that came after it. It altered the course of Dance!
Incredible, please make more videos like this!
If they don't maybe you can invite them to listen to some Huey Lewis & The News
Douglas Leone Leite Do you like phil collins?
Extraordinario, bailando 90's en México👍🏽👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I'm just a musical hobbyist but your videos always inspire me to rev up GarageBand and lay down some tracks! Thanks!
Its nice to someone enjoy their work as much as this guy. Love it.
Dude this is the best channel on youtube.
RoccoX95
If not the coolest.
@@djdigital3806 oh yeah
5:20 so great to see you built this up simply with your hearing and knowledge of instruments. At first I kept waiting for you to add the shaker, and you did, and it's neat to watch you basically slow down the whole thing in your brain, as you analyze and reverse engineer, while listening in real time, very impressive, very fun.
6:19, well met!
6:55, this is so great, so glad you're not going generic, that open hat you chose, while "close enough" was too long, and I was hoping you would shorten, and you did, eek! Good stuff.
Hahahaha !!!! Good 😁
14:20 wow, bro. After you did the mixing, I was gobsmacked that you got this so close and your version is very dynamic and immediate, great for a live rendition of this song, holy crap, I learned a lot today. Awesome goods, bro.
Such a nice classic and inspiring song! You did a nice work to recreate all the arrangements.
I feel like a Guatemalan in Miami when I see this. And I subscribed because your accent is so pleasant to put attention to. The sounds you make before reproducing are lit. This is my kind of tutorial. Adds character to the already strong personally. This is the kind of teacher I needed. 👍🏻
I know zero about music, however I find this extremely fascinating and interesting.
Man I Love your videos. Keep doing this great job!
Great tutorial. Very cool to see you put this track together.
Awesome! It’s always been a musical goal of mine to recreate this track, and this video just helped that become possible!
Very great job!
Pleaaasee do more rebuilts!! This is awsome
Soooo happy to see a video on constructing this song!
I wish I had that setup and talent. You can make such amazing things. Fantastic
Fantastic job!
I can only imagine what the clubs were like when the original came out
Dark, with loud music and a lot of drugs.
man, you got me here, messing around w garageband, inspired to male music for a videogame project, I have w friends. this is beautiful!
Excelente reconstrucción de Pump up the jam, me divertí mucho, gracias, saludos desde Venezuela...!
I once had the honour of attending a workshop by Jo Bogaert. He never new how he changed my life :-) He used an eight-track to produce this song, and vocals and melody were improvised on the spot by Manuela Kamosi.
What year was that? There's almost nothing online from him, I guess he doesn't care to be interviewed about this era anymore! I'd like to read a full technical/gear-based article about the Technotronic days. What else did he say about it? They had a 909 and what else?
Thanks for sharing
It must have been the early 2000’s. He was part of a seminar about music and had two hours to fill. I was a cameraman filming it, but footage must be long lost in the catacombes of time :-( With respect, he is a great musician, but his workshop was boring. Even to the point he seemed to fall asleep himself. Slanted on a chair on a small stage. No instruments. He was not a great raconteur. As a cameraman with great interest in music, this really was a shame, and difficult to learn something. But’ Vocals were recorded in his hallway. Took only twenty minutes. There were many reworks New beat, (or better, hiphouse...) was at the time so bad received (over-commercialised, see the confetti’s hits) in Belgium, that the singer Ya Kid K herself refused to have anything to do with the disc. So no cover-shoot, no videoclip with her and a replacement had to be found. Ya Kid K is now a millionaire. Grtz.

This is a true classic . . you should do "get ready for this"(by 2 unlimited) and Snap Rhytm is a dancer . . both awesome!!!
Such a great live mix. Thanks!!!
great mix got me right back into this song again! I haven't stopped pumping it in the car
You have a great ear. Would love to hear you remake a Giorgio Moroder song, f.ex. Chase. Thanks for the great content :]
Agreed, I really want to see The Chase by Giorgio!
Even better would be I Feel Love by Donna Summer.
@@jd49631 the chase 😉
Yeah !!
My favorite bassline of all time!
Hello from Brazil! Amazing Mix
Love your energy! Thank you for this great moment
Great beat!!! Very good job!! Love it!!
I hate to tell you this, BUT THAT WAS HELLA FUN😂😎 You're awesome!!!!
Love what you do! Also Classical background over here (piano, general theory), AND massive respect + fascination for old school hip-hop, house, even Gabber (I know...) ... I can listen to all of these genres in 1 sitting. People need to keep an open mind. Keep up the great work and thanks for the inspiration.
When it gets to the synth bass and added delay it’s wow magic!
Outstanding man. Love this tune and great job remaking it.
pompi, pompi, pompi... ohhh que tiempos aquellos!!!!!
Jan Hammer is one of my favourites!! Could you do Crockett's Theme!!! Great videos!!!
My favorite version of Crockett's theme is the one used for GTA:Vice City. It's better somehow.
I love the old school song, i cannot get enough. The Standstorm song i dont like particulairy too much bleeps. Your chat and research in the music makes me so productive in coding. thanks man.
Love your work! Legendary and highly technical. Superb!
Please do one of The KLF song !!
Which one? Last train to trancentral is my favourite.
One of my favourites too! :)@@harrisondavid8607
Last Train would be great!
KLF music was pretty much built entirely out of samples. There is almost no native instrumentation in it. Claudio would have to find the original samples to recreate it. The rest is just EQ and arrangement.
And I also recommend Last Train To Trancentral.
Mumu Laaaand!!!!
At the end, you look like a "happy child" who gets his first gift at Christmas😉😂
Doesn't he always?
It's something I can completely empathize with. I feel excited when I figure stuff out on my virus TI.
First video that I have watched of yours. Pure Mastery! and Yes I was singing it in my head! LOL Awesome! Thank you for sharing.
Instantly hooked to the video , seeing him making the track is simply outstanding, this is hard to do it looks easy watching it
Pump up the jam which was a rebuilt from Farley Jackmaster funk, by the way nice square-rebuilt
Please add Faithless - Insomnia to the rebuild list. "I can't get no sleep"
JV pizzicato's and reverb, done xD
@@N1h1L3 yeah, sure buddy
Point blank music did that ages ago !
I like how the background transition from day to night, pretty awesome, and Great rebuild 👍
loving the "Rebuilt" version! so punchy and crisp!
Doctor Mix: I bet you're singing this in your head.
Me: Hell yeah!
btw. I think the original had simply a delay/echo on the hi-hats, at least this is what it sounded always to me (hence the stereo bouncing on the quieter hats).
9:58 i think that second synth sound was sampled by Technotronic from Marshall Jefferson's "Move Your Body" (1987). So you recreated one of the most iconic house-music chords. Great job)
I hear it too. Sounds dope though.
Yes! Never noticed before.
Excelente trabajo! Excelente homenaje al House! Saludos desde CDMX 🙌🏽😊🇲🇽
Really enjoyed this video and had a fun element to it too.
