    Is BAH definitely liveable? Like does it cover all your expenses, or should I also expect to work in conjunction?

    • @cammyatlarge1292
      @cammyatlarge1292  4 роки тому +22

      Well it depends a lot on what your living situation is and what your looking for as far as living arrangements. A single person living in a 700$-800$ apartment while in school can most certainly budget wisely and live off of Bah. Even more so, if your living rent free with family. However, a more practical answer would be no. It helps a lot but if you are on your own and pay all of your own bills then you will need some other form of income. Keep in mind you only get bah the months that you’re in school so you’ll also have to account for the time in between semesters when you’ll have bills.

    • @donaldthompson4044
      @donaldthompson4044 3 роки тому +8

      IDK about that. Did some calculations and it looks like I'll have to get second income. I'll only get BAH for 5 months(if you're a full time student), so that alone is a problem. If you're studying in a low cost area, that BAH is not going to be enough at all. You better have some savings at least 15K before you get out.

    Do you get an LES ? or some what is coming in and going out? Seems like the monthly stipend is never the same... and is there a way to verify what date the school reports for start/finish semesters?

  • @SK8BOARDLEE

    Very helpful video. I’ll be calling my school tomorrow to get them to send the enrollment verification.

    • @cammyatlarge1292
      @cammyatlarge1292  4 роки тому +3

      Be careful, The school will not send out the enrollment verification until about the first week of school. Remember what I said in the video, once school has started and you have actually attended classes the school will then verify your enrollment because you have shown up. They need to see that you're actually attending class. They're not going to send it out before classes start because there's no guarantee that you will not drop out before school starts.

    • @cammyatlarge1292
      @cammyatlarge1292  4 роки тому +5

      Great question! You ONLY get the monthly housing allowance the months that you are in school. So you will have to calculate expenses for the months you aren't in school. Maybe get a job the months your not in school or take out student loans in addition to the GI Bill to cover expenses.

    I am wondering if military do make payback for BAH? My husband and I got married in August and until now going to November, I do not have and see any BAH on LES. I could not tell my husband to move with me to Florida since I am waiting for the BAH first to appear since it will be use for the payment for the rent offbase.

    Is there a requirement for how many classes you have to take a semester? I'm trying to go to school for nursing and I only have 7 pre req classes and they will only allow me to take one or two a semester most likely only one semester because they have to be taken in a certain order.

    I recommend having a small part time job to help with the little things. Working is so much better when you know you can quit anytime you’d like.
    Also, online classes only receive $700 a month, but semesters are shorter saving your GI bill months for any needed prerequisites.

    • @cammyatlarge1292
      @cammyatlarge1292  4 роки тому +1

      Ummmmmm no, I would NOT recommend having a part-time job your first year in law school. In fact, some law schools have you sign a waiver that stipulates that you cannot work more than 20 hours in a week. Other Law Schools stipulate that you CANNOT work at all!! Let me emphasize how rigorous law school is, it is far beyond the rigors of obtaining a bachelor's or master's degree. It's a doctorate-level education if you can help it DON'T WORK!! Trust me you will do a lot better focusing on law school because your grades WILL suffer I've seen it. It's important not only to get into law school but to STAY IN.

    • @757Princess
      @757Princess 4 роки тому +3

      I’m not in law school. My medical lab program says you shouldn’t work either but being realistic the GI bill doesn’t stretch that far when you live alone. Speaking on the GI bill it always helps to have a little more income

    • @cammyatlarge1292
      @cammyatlarge1292  4 роки тому

      @@757Princess I understand where you're coming from however, I believe that if you can help it, don't work. I'm not sure of what type of medical program you're in or what level of education it is. It's not as difficult to have a part-time job when you're getting an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree. When I was getting my bachelor's at one point I had three jobs the curriculum is not as stressful. Any law student will tell you not to work there's a reason law schools have this rule in place. But yes, if you're not pursuing a doctoral program, then yes having a job does help and is a great way to cover what the GI Bill doesn't.
