Grimdark is the term for Warhammer 40k but Games Workshop doesn't really show this style off on their minis. Well why don't we discover some cool techniques to make some gritty and weathered warhammer 40k miniatures that represent the grimdark future.

I wouldn't say alot but I do enjoy using them when applicable. I've noticed at least with black that that there are several variations and it can matter depending on the look you're going for. I have Mars Black, lamp black and ivory black and each is a distinctive black. Lamp black for instance if you hadn't guessed gives a sooty look that almost appears to have a lil texture.
Have you any experience with the oils that use water as a medium? I bought an ivory black in that but yet to have good excuse to experiment.
I'll be adding you to hobby watch list.
Last question how do you feel about acrylic gouache used on minis ?

@@jc7997aj I haven’t experimented a ton with other types of oil paints. I’ve used odorless thinner a decent amount but I definitely want to try more out they just offer a lot of subtle effects like you said that add a lot to minis.
I have not used gouache but it’s definitely something on my list seems like may be some use in OSL effects. I appreciate the comment and that you enjoyed the video! Goal is to improve with every video!

I’m glad you explained the oil paint method. I see people so this in other videos, but it’s almost ingrained to modern mini-painting so it gets skipped over. Great video!

Thank you! I appreciate that a lot. I totally understand so much of our hobby is assumed. Since oil washes were a big focal point of the video I wanted to make the process clear so glad to hear it worked out!
