Seems like I had an issue with the FX chrono app misreporting the ft.lb figures for the 10.35grain pellets. I now realise that they're quite hot so I'll be turning the reg down a few bars to compensate. Thanks for all the heads-up! I also noticed during editing that the cocking lever bolt had worked itself loose and that's now been tightened down. Many thanks to all the eagle-eyed viewers for your feedback. 😀👍
Interesting video to watch and set of results to look at. The reg pressure, hammer weight, travel and spring pressure are all interlinked to give the speed to the pellet. For sub 12 ft-lb, if you up the reg pressure you will have to compensate by reducing the hammer travel or spring pressure etc. It tends to be a long process of multiple adjustments. Sub12 airgun channel is fantastic, but you don't get to see the amount of testing they must do to get their results. Thanks for the video.
The screw at the centre of the regulator is for the regulator adjuster knob that can be purchased from Bagnall & Kirkwood. This threaded centre is integral to the regulator so please don't anyone damage this! The regulator knob and screw are parts 148 & 112 (Regulator adjuster knob and screw)
Fitting the regulator knob seems a bit of overkill for the sub12 rifle as it's not something that you're going to regularly change. As far as I'm aware adjusting the centre screw does exactly the same thing and it's already there. I'm just following guidance from other channels like sub12airgunners who show this and know far more than me.
You must not fit the adjuster knob to a sub12 ghost as that will then make it an illigal firearm if you do not have a valid FAC. The law states that sub12 air rifle must only be adjustable with a tool to increase and decrease the power. Fitting the adjuster know then makes the adjustment a tool less task and therefore makes the sub12 rifle then able to be easily over sub12 without the need for a tool and therefor if you are caught with it you will be nicked. This is the reason the reg is set and the knob is not included in the sub12 version from factory.
@@hftshooterits brilliant I have only use it down my local range , only getting about 100 shots , I have to get some heavy 25 gr as the 16 gr are going supersonic 1078 on lowest setting , but look forward to testing heavier jsb 25 gr
Good test and set up. Have you tried the barracuda 8 they are so good. I noticed in your test your cocking pivot Allen bolt has come undone this happed to me as well hope you don't lose it.
Hi buddy , you didn’t have to do that with a screwdriver, that’s just a little grub screw that can come out , really enjoyed the vid , keep them coming 👍
Thanks Peter, I've had a few comments about that. I just read off the chrono figures and didn't check. I did adjust the pellet weight for the string but it appears that the app prefers a separate rifle profile for each different pellet. Learning all the time! 😀👍
@@reaney41 Thanks. I had a closer look at the user manual and it recommends having a separate rifle profile for each type of pellet used. guess I should have read it more carefully!
😮723 FPS with JSB Heavy pellets is 12 FPE. The Huma reg setting was 110 bar from the factory for a reason. I would suggest leaving it at 110 bar if I was you. Thanks for taking the time to put out this content though 👍
So at face value, you have increased the reg pressure by 5bar, but it seems that it was probably better before you touched it. Perhaps your efforts may have been better spent polishing the imperfections from the rifling in the barrel, which would by itself tightened up the groupings and increased fps by itself. From what I have read, this is the result. Thanks for the video👍🏻
Yes, I'm on a journey of discovery. What I didn't know before I now have a better understanding of. Learning all the time. I'm not aware of any indications that the barrel needs polishing. I'm sure I've already pushed some pellets down it to check, but I'll give it another go when I get the chance. Thanks for watching. 🙂
I have learned that there is a lot of discrepancy between Rifles. But my problem is I don’t even have a good starting point. Do you have a 30 caliber and if so, what regulator setting and power wheel setting did you find to work?
I don't have a 30 cal sorry. May I suggest you visit the ghost owners group on Facebook and ask there. There's a lot of shooters there who may be able to help you.
I just finished running this test but the FPS never peaked and start to fall off. I Started at 80 bar and tested thru 180 bar, FPS climbed continuously from 784.13 to 978.13. I would like your thoughts on this....
All these rifles, even the same models, seem to vary so much. I was following the sub12 airgunners guidance and my results were different to theirs. No rhyme or reason to it. You just need to tweak to find the power sweet spot where you're getting optimum accuracy with your chosen pellet. That's often at a lower setting than you think. 👍
Great video Jeff, and always great information and a good watch, you can't beat a bit of your gun porn🤣😊🤣 I always learn something new from your videos, so I thank you for that✌️👌👍💕
Seems odd that BRK goes to great lengths to stop owners tuning the Ghost to maximize accuracy/consistent velocity. Looking at your graph, where you reached peak velocity by increasing the reg pressure, I was thinking, the gun would perform better by increasing hammer spring tension at that point but, of course, there’s no means of doing so. So, an owner not wishing to void warranty has no option but to take it back to BRK when he finds his gun is under powered/inconsistent. This is not a cheap gun and most buyers in this category are knowledgeable enough to know how to tune such a gun AND keep it legal. Good video but, the limitations of tuning puts me off buying one tbh.
I hear you. It would be good if manufacturers could offer a version without all the anti-tamper stuff fitted. I guess as always they have to cater for the lowest common denominator; a few idiots spoil it for everyone else.
@@hftshooter thanks for taking time to reply. I’m sure your answer is exactly why BRK have stopped customers tampering with their products but, I believe I’m right in saying that our U.K. sub 12ft lb law says something along the lines of ‘not easily/readily adjustable’ so, if an Allen key has to be used, surely that fills that particular requirement? Several manufacturers allow their guns to be tuned to limited degrees by using a tool or even removing the stock first, shame the Ghost isn’t one of them as I’d certainly have bought one.

You may want to recheck the energy calculations for the JSB heavy’s you’re VERY close to legal limit. 707 fpe is not 9.3 ft/lbs with 10.34 gr.
Thanks for the heads-up. I just blindly took the data from the FX app linked to the chrono. It's clearly not calculating correctly. 👍
