Good set of videos, thank you. As a new Td5 owner I’m finding them easy and straightforward to follow, which does give me the confidence to DIY. Cheers
Absolutely brilliant. I'm a bit of a novice but found this video very helpful to me as I got athe tools ready before I started and everything I needed . The job went sweet as a nut ,for now on I will ALWAYS service my landrover myself ,thank you It was a very easy plan to follow thank you
Ha Ha ! My prayers answered! I have been hoping for a video on changing the diesel filter, or more correctly the after fitting procedure, I thought it would involve a flat battery with all the priming after the change ! The centrifugal oil filter is a really good idea, and I find it a lot easier to change than the lower conventional filter, which is always awkward. I did think Jean-Paul was going to get a black hair day draining the sump. Very many thanks for posting this one ! Chris B.
Great stuff, I think that this current time will be the opportunity for me to start doing my own service on my 2004 TD5, and I'll be following the video. Cheers 👍
Hi John Paul: you do some great video's; will you be making a video for a Defender 90 TD5 showing how to change the timing chain? I have read that the head needs to be removed? kind regards, Martin
Hi are you guys still open for deliveries? Because I want to carry on with my defender 300tdi rebuild. Many thanks, be safe AND STAY AT HOME AND SAVE THE NHS..
Hi, Gary. Yes we are still shipping orders. Be safe and get that rebuild done!! And if you email me at tim.pritchard@rimmerbros.com we'll send you a £25 gift voucher to help you on your way. Seeing as this was our favourite comment for a while!! :)
Just the advice that John Paul gives in the video, I'm afraid. They can be tough to remove if tight but persevere and as JP says, use the thinnest oil filter wrench you can get your hands on.
You should’ve redone the air filter in the edit having said about making sure in the tabs as you went to clip it in the rear popped out - guess it’s just one more rattle 😁
Yes, it would probably help if you could remove the turbo, the exhaust manifold, the air pipe to the intercooler, the cylinder head.......and maybe the engine as well. Difficult doesn't begin to describe it.
He didn't fix the cover properly on the air filter, probably because it's such a pig to fix that it would have taken the full 8 minutes of the vid to get it right. He also didn't emphasize how difficult it is to get the conventional oil filter off and out without spilling a load of oil onto the engine

We're pleased to hear that Colin! It's a great sense of accomplishment too isn't it?! :)
I'm new to defenders , great video. Thankyou
Glad you enjoyed
Incredibly efficient straightforward description. Thank you again Rimmer Bros.
super helpfull and parts ordered, would help if part numbers were in description and no part number for the filter either
Short and Useful - practical. Thanks

This is such a brilliant idea for a video, and showing the part no.s is a great touch. Cheers
Absolutely awesome channel thanks John Paul at RimmerBros
Good idea to write the date of change on the filters. Not necessary, just good practice.
Excellent tuition again
Hey, this is a useful video, thanks. I own a td5 discovery 2 but seems like it'll work the same.
Very informative. I am going to give it a go this week. What could possibly go wrong! Thank you.
Also a piece of webbing Wrapped around oil filter can be used to remove oil filter if you don’t have the filter removal tool.

Un video muy bien explicado. Gracias por compartir sus conocimientos.

Those rear hooks on the air filter box are, tricky to say the least.
Shouldn’t you clamp the fuel lines before removing the diesel filter?
You're not kidding about the air filter box.
Clamp the fuel lines? never seen that in the manual.
How often do you recommend this type of service? I've read recommendations from every 5000km (mainly oil) to once every 12/24 months. TIA
need a step up when I am changing my oil filter, you must have longer legs than me!
Thanks very much, for the helpful video. For those of us on the other side of the pond, what is 23 nM in old money (lb/ft) please.
16.96 mate
Yes why was the centrifugal filter 👍 not continued? The sound went off at the point the fuel spilled out of the filter “oh for fuels sake!?” Bleep?😂
Don't know what you mean, Sherlock? hahaha
the air filter top housing is not properly fitted 😁
Ssshhhhhhhhhh!!!... don't tell anyone, ok? ;)

@@RimmerBrosTV hi
Well thank you very much. Did not expect that to happen.. be safe guys. Keep the videos coming please.
Just done my service on my 2002 TD5 . Any tips for getting the oil filter off any tools to use?

Hahahaha!... Whaddya mean?...Hollywood level edits here! ;)
Don’t you need to remove anything to get rid of the oil filter? looks easier on the video than my reality ! 😅
In all honesty, it wasn't that easy, even in JP's reality. But it's worth having a go.
Yes, it would probably help if you could remove the turbo, the exhaust manifold, the air pipe to the intercooler, the cylinder head.......and maybe the engine as well.

Changing the oil filter on a Td5 makes me want to throw away the whole vehicle
Put it in the bin😂
I've found it helps to take the engine out with a hoist, then you can get at the filter easily.

Poor fender!
