    I would like to suggest the fact that this gun was so pellet fussy is maybe the reason it was up for sale. My own .177 prosport was very very accurate and not pellet fussy at all. At 30 yards it would produce one hole groups all day long in fact it was so predictable it became a bit of a bore to shoot. My own shooting abilities are really only average so the fact that this gun performs so well is down to the gun not my shaky old arms.

    I commented on a video you shot on the BSA r12 I've owned one for about a month. ( good video ) I've also got a Pro sport in .22. The pellets that group well through it are Accupell 14-3g, although I've also been pleased with the J S B Exact Jumbo's 15-89g both decent. Thanks for the review.

    I have it in .177 and it's definitely my #1 rifle. It always presents a nice challenge and is smooth to use - and as Lowrangers on tour said below - JSB RS Exact 7.33 gr. seem to suit the .177 barrel, at least for me.

    I didn't realize this was the .22 at first. I just bought a TX200 HC in .22, same piston and barrel but I found it to be a bit more finnicky. I really think it's due to the fact the it's a lot easier for the piston to push the air it's compressing out of the larger .22 hole and to sort of tame this down a bit I went up in pellet weight even though it's shooting fairly slow compared to my pro sport in .177. Once I switched to the 18 grain JSB or AA pellets. it was a totally different gun and like my Pro sport, dead on, 605 muzzle velocity. With the lighter pellets, the piston was causing some undesirable recoil. But again. I'm in the states with the Fac versions.

    nice shooting, have got a Pro-Sport in .177 and don't find it too fussy with pellets, does like the lighter pellets though like jsb rs in 7.33 very accurate gun even compared with my fx impact and s510 but really have to get the hold right :)

      I'm with you here, mine isn't too fussy either but I prefer the AA or jsb 10.34 in my fac version. It's 12 years old and never misses. I miss, but not guns fault.

    • @ravenshield7823
      @ravenshield7823 Рік тому

      @@danbrown6255 After 10-11 years of owning it I started to feal guilty and stripped it down, changed the piston seal, polished the piston lightly, and she just shoots a dream like it always did, in .177, same hole capable to 35 yards, then you have to consider that a drag stabilized light projectile can't defeat physics but this Prosport does it's best to try. I read somewhere the newer ones aren't as good as the old ones, and I have recently purchased a tx200 and it's supposed to be the same thing, it is in .22 but it is much twangier and vibrations that my 2010 ProSport does not have. Could be a fluke, I did get it during the pandemic and the stock is kinda ugly also. I've read that you shouldn't polish the piston too much because those crosshatching honing marks are what holds the lubrication for the piston, And I have to agree that that makes perfect sense.

    Try the lightest pellet you can get your hands on with a spring rifle, it reduces the lock time and thus hold sensitivity.. I use 7.33gr JSB RS in my .177 air rifles and they work in every rifle I've ever tried them in.

    I just can’t understand the price point. I believe £970 for a Left hand model. How can Air Arms justify it? Yes it’s one of the best springers available, but it’s pretty much the same platform as a TX and they’re half the price.
    Love the finish and build quality of them but worth twice the price of a HW77? Just can’t see the reason for the price.

      In addition to the above (or possibly below) if you want a stick that just bangs a pellet down-range this type of gun is probably not for you. If, however, you want a classic gun that you can fully appreciate and maybe even love, then the lines, quality and workmanship of a gun like this makes it worth every penny. Pride of ownership is rarely attached to a cheap Chinese (or similar) gun. AAs are superb.

      had a tx and a 97. both great BUT tx much easier to maintain . this is important , 97 spring broke after only 500 pellets so for somebody who is not super handy the tx makes it easy. 97 is not that complicated but it is a bit more work . Trigger wise both great but f me tx is more pleasant to use...not better but more pleasant .thanks

    Not a "crack!" shot but certainly a "twang" shot. Pellet fuzzyness might indicate a barrel cleaning is needed. This sort of twang is un-airarmslike. I think your friends at you - know - who should do some thorough service work to the gun, certainly at that asking price. But then I'm a "crit" shot.

  • @andyfry745
    @andyfry745 Рік тому +1

    Too expensive for that particular rifle second hand..here’s the age old argument…why? When the rm8 out shoots it new for £400????…yet most good shooters start on springers as it’s the perfect platform.comments about how far some say they can shoot with a springer mainly taken with a pinch of salt…as a professional shooter in 40 years I’ve only met and seen a handful of people who can shoot a springer like a pcp gun…anyway doctor I’ve shot with you before and no how well you shoot..good review,nice rifle at £550

    • @martolhunts1426
      @martolhunts1426 Рік тому +1

      But with a RM8 you have to buy either a Pump or an Air Tank to fill it up and with springers you have to cock it and reload it so it's a lot less kit to bring with you.
      That being said, I would rather get a 97K or a TX200 for a lot cheaper

    • @andyfry745
      @andyfry745 Рік тому

      Because that’s the way forward.we don’t live in caves anymore or buy Morris minors because of progression.air tanks aren’t expensive and cost little to fill.and if you hunt filling a pcp gun your average 120 shots which could be 6 hunting trips…but I agree,and that rifle wouldn’t touch the Walther lgu which is I think the best springer made.fabulous rifle.
