I just found you guys on UA-cam again and I’m so excited. I missed Alaska the last frontier so much and now my and my grandkids get to watch you on UA-cam. Merry Christmas from the Keay family from the mountains of California 🎄✨
I love kale kimchi , and it keeps really well in cold weather , I love your recipe that I just seen and I had to come back to watch it again because I want to make your salad that you made it looks so delicious.❤
Kale get used in Portuguese soups and lots of Hungarian soups and stews . It’s quite a staple for me to use . De stem it and shred it up and put it in with beans and a ham hock / knuckle that are so cheap to buy but full of flavour or we get gammon off cuts here in the UK really cheaply , mix kale , beans you’ve soaked or split pea , lentils along with other vegetables and you have a cheap hearty tasty family meal .
Eve, excellent, informative video. Between discussing growing, storing and using it in recipes this was nice to watch and listen too. Obviously, that wouldn’t have made it on ATLF, but a PBS show would be another alternative. Nevermind, just keep doing these on your UA-cam channel. Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi Eve. I love watching and learning from you when it comes to gardening and cooking. I was wondering if maybe sometime you could make a video of how to clean and season an old cast iron skillet and how to maintain going forward like general cleaning after use? I have just started getting into using a skillet and having a bit of a difficult time with it. I have watched so many videos and I feel like I'm getting somewhere and then I pull it out next time to use it and there's a little rust!! UGH!!! HELP!!! I would be forever appreciative. I love using it but dang I just can't get the hang of something that seems like it should be so easy!
Ty for giving us the viewers your kale salad. I will make soon, but I will use a small pumpkin from my garden. It looks so yummy! I'm a vegetarian so this recipe will fit in nicely. Love kale in a stir fry with spinach, collards, mustard greens and mushrooms and red bell peppers, and garlic. One of my favorite foods. Great video!
Happy Thanksgiving to the whole Family.i can feel the joy in your lifestyle on the homestead. I am going to try the Kale in the garden for a later crop next year for sure. Great show so relaxing and natural 🙏
kale reminds of card board but I have boiled it n used juice n kale for smoothies n I mixed it in yogurt with the juice n mixed into yogurt n froze in lil molds to put into the smoothie.
We used to mix or blend kale with the greens (collards, turnips, & mustard) & cook it down. Put the greens in a bowl or on a plate along with cornbread.
I hope you and your family have a great thanksgiving. Thank you so much also for allowing me to tag along on your incredible journey there in Alaska I love it so very much
Kale is partially what cured ulcerative colitis for me. I would juice it with apple and carrot and you don’t even taste it. One of the best veggies there is
Eve, this is a fantastic video and the salad looks super yummy!!! Everything you put in it will make it more healthy!!! I love your channel! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! God bless you and your family!!!
Definitely have to massage it. Tried it without massaging it it wasn’t that good lol.But love it in my salad after I realized it needed to be massaged. Thank you for all your contacts from Michigan
Hi Eve. Watching from Australia. 😁 My boss where I volunteer is Malaysian & she loves Kale. She uses atleast 1 variety & she tells me she loves slicing it very fine & stir frys it with spring onions & eats it just like that, or serves it as a side. Also the more curley type it very tasty made into chips. :) 🇦🇺 Also, does the freezing without blanching apply to all types of Kale?
Just curious if you have a cookbook, if not you should really look into it. Your recipes and your special touch on them😋 May you continue having Blue Skies✌
I eat about anything, except kale and collard greens. I do eat a bunch of cabbage, which is hardy. I might try some kale in my beans. I'll look for it. I can't grow my own stuff where I live. I do miss gardening, but not the kneeling and bending over.
If the kale hasn't been frozen, you can just harvest, put it in the freezer and afterwards process. I believe it's a dutch trick, I've never heard it from any other source.
How about adding chapter headings (easy) on postings as fragmented and lengthy as this? You missed one of the most important benefits for US population: It is almost the ONLY "GREEN" vegetable allowed on the FodMAP diet - which are the foods allowed for the about 7-20 percent of population with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) which excludes huge amounts of green veggies.
Kale makes a great ferment for your garden or they call it FPJ. THEY SAY SMELLS BAD GOING IN BRINGS THE BEST ON THE WAY OUT it's kind of like seaweed lots of good micro neutrents
In the old days where producers ran the last frontier they inferred that a crop failure of yours would mean starvation to get views as you could walk to fast food if you had to. This is much better although probably not as profitable.
Hitting the side of your mason jar with the metal spoon.......A little piece of glass can cause a whole lot of discomfort in your digestive system!!!>...My Mom would always do that and I stopped her bad reflex of hitting the side of anything in glass!!!>....Your the best sorry for complaining!!!>..It's in my nature because of serving people alll my life!!!>....SORRY!!.
Happy Thanksgiving Eve. As far as the Kale and what to do with it, please take it to the dump and get rid of it. I think it taste like liver to me. Later.
I’m gonna give kale another try. First time I put it in a smoothie in big chunks. I’m gonna finely chop it. Thank you!
Thanks so much for the video, God bless you and your family!
Sei semplicemente un arretrato ...mi dispiace se c'è lai con me 😊😊😊😊!!!???
Happy Thanksgiving to the Kilchers!!

Amazone sells the book too, it's called "homestead kitchen: stories and recipes from our haert to yours"
Heart of course.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! 🦃🍻💨💯
What spice is in the small mason jar that you sprinkled in? I’m intrigued by the kale and the delicate sounds delish!
👍💕👏
I eat about anything, except kale and collard greens. I do eat a bunch of cabbage, which is hardy. I might try some kale in my beans. I'll look for it. I can't grow my own stuff where I live. I do miss gardening, but not the kneeling and bending over.

Huh, who hasn't had Portuguese kale soup? Well apparently lots of people lol.... Must you, try. With crusty bread
as a child I was never introduced to kale or collards.
Where is August? Why don't we see him?

Your totally right!
Kale makes a great ferment for your garden or they call it FPJ. THEY SAY SMELLS BAD GOING IN BRINGS THE BEST ON THE WAY OUT it's kind of like seaweed lots of good micro neutrents
I have found that if you saute kale in coconut oil, it makes it slide from the skillet into the garbage can easier😑
In the old days where producers ran the last frontier they inferred that a crop failure of yours would mean starvation to get views as you could walk to fast food if you had to. This is much better although probably not as profitable.
I don’t like kale. Maybe I’ll try it again
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! your green house is empty now

I like collard greens but to make them really good you have to make them not so good for you
Love collards but never liked kale.
I like Kale and I am not a fan of most greens!
That extra long comment is just far out man what planet are you on jeez
It's a Bot
Why do you care?
Hate kale taste awful
Happy Thanksgiving Eve. As far as the Kale and what to do with it, please take it to the dump and get rid of it. I think it taste like liver to me. Later.
Grass clippings are better than kale ....just my opinion.
