I've gotten a lot of comments about this and just to quickly clarify why I said "is" rather than "was"; I just wanted to go the safe route since the only fully confirmed lay offs at that point were blackrack and the CMs. The rest (although obvious, I mean 70 lay offs, literally everyone yeesh) are still unconfirmed, and everyone *is* still working as far as we know until June 28th (when the actually layoff happens). Phew, this is reminding me what a trainwreck the entire situation is though lol
@@smooneychad You can't get any less confirmed then government paperwork submitted to have all 70 employees laid off The only question of if is whether they will wait the full amount of time till the scheduled date or provide everyone unemployment packages for an early layoff (which as you said we have seen for some employees)
I was honestly glad to see KSP 2 fail, I was rooting against them ever since they drop-kicked Squad out the door despite their amazing work on the first game. I am vindicated.
Awesome stuff. This reminds me of The Winter Owl's 'no parachutes - planes only' Let's Fly videos from waaaaaaay back in the day. :) They named a manufacturer after the guy for that stuff.
You can add the spoilers/air brakes to the breaks action group even if you haven’t upgraded any buildings if I remember correctly. Also you can turn up the friction on the main landing gear and turn down the friction on the steering gear (so for your current aircraft the tail wheel) and that will make them handle significantly better on the ground and make the wheel brakes actually effective.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel the exact same way after playing modded ksp1 again for this. Though I'll still come back to ksp2 to finish up my plans there, this is just so much more fun already

In the long run, KSP2 will die and be remembered as a scam, and moddedKSP1 content will be far more popular. Speaking of mods, do try FreeIVA and B9 procedural wings. And MK4 spaceplane by Nertea.

as someone who basically only uses ksp to build fighter jets these days, watching the starter rocket with basic fins actually maneuver made my soul hurt. gotta love early game career/science mode lmao

Any framerate issue are definitely because I’ve modded it into oblivion since I run and record all of this on a laptop. My apologies for that I try to fix up most of the footage (2x speed at least) but a PC update is well overdue! Glad you like the series though thanks for watching!!!

You said the breaks are too weak, but have you tried turning them up in the action menu? I think they are set to 50 or 75% but you can turn them all the way up to 150 or 200% (I forget). I've never had the brakes give me any trouble, though I still hate those landing gear.
Add KSP-IE to your instance as well. It’s actually for interstellar exploration unlike the Far Future Technologies mod which is for advanced interplanetary exploration.
I love everything about the solid fuel plane. :D The landing gear whose drag keeps it nose-up when it rolls over, the shenanigans with the center of mass and the TWR under 1.0. I once made a much bigger spaceplane with no control surfaces. It had a lot of reaction wheels; especially Mk2 drone cores which have much more torque for pitch than the other axes. I need that HUD Replacer skin. Looks just right for my eyes. 9:36 Those aren't landing gears, they're bouncing gears! Am I right? I'm becoming a landing gear specialist but I can't figure out how to work with the ones on the stalks. To be honest though, KSP planes often come down pretty heavy; carrying a lot more fuel than they would IRL. Some of the stock planes only have 2 Mk0 tanks -- 100 units of fuel. I like to build planes which are stable without SAS -- under keyboard control -- so I can fly them with a scientist who can reset the experiments. It was quite a challenge, but I'm starting to get good now. I love IVA view because it's the view I'd get if I was really there. 👨🚀I can understand the landing difficulty though. I don't like landing at all, when it comes down to it! I hate it the least when I can see my landing lights illuminating the ground; that gives me perspective. If I flew real planes, I'd probably limit myself to WW1 open cockpits and land with my head over the side looking at the landing gear! 😅

dont quote me on this but im pretty sure you are supposed to have just enough speed to where you dont smack the ground extremely hard and explode, but on your descent onto the runway touch down the back landing gear before the front landing gears while keeping them fairly level to each other. should help
A nice mod with can help you is rsc build aid with does help when putting rcs on craft but also shows you the center of mass when the craft is out of fuel which will help you a lot
@@smooneychadanother mod I remembered just now is x science or something like that which shows you all the science you can do in your situation in one menu and do said experiments in the same menu
RCS Build Aid is high on my list of mods to install for this reason. I drain the tanks to see how COM moves. Some of my spaceplanes have more than a dozen pairs of tanks which makes it quite a trial.
It's a big impact on my PC (I'm on an IGPU though), I'm pretty sure you just turn the terrain shaders/quality to high rather than ultra and that disables it
The only thing I dislike about ksp 1 mods is how hard it is to get them to work. Even with CKAN most mods don't have their most recent updated version on it or it thinks mods are incompatible which work fine with each other, or are outdated but also still work fine. I tried curseforge but it doesn't even have kopernicus. The lack of a proper centralized modding database makes it really really hard to find what you want. Spacedock seems to have the most mods on it, but I couldn't find a search function or any filtering settings.
More on the way! I agree, can be a little boring in just a tiny plane. iva should be a blast though when we start having large aircraft or stations to explore! (hopefully lol)
Those aero fx look nice took a look to the mods list couldnt find the mod for it. Are the fx stock, but it looks improved because of tufx, or do you use a mod for it?
1.12.5 but I've got almost all versions of KSP set as compatible in ckan (settings->compatible game versions) so I can get some of the out-of-date mods that I wanted but still work despite being listed as incompatible. Almost all should be on ckan, except for volumetric clouds and a couple other things that are manual only or paid. Also glad you like it! :D
I just wish the latest version of Realism Overhaul had better career mode. Default now it's Sandbox-Only, and if you get RP1 it turns it into a horrible slog of endless menus that make little sense; more like a DVM simulator than a rocket building game. Kerbin feels like a toy when you've gotten good at getting objects to the Moon and Mars. Getting into LEO is more of a mission than getting to the Mun.
I literally just downloaded RO with RP-1 to do some messing around and see if a future aircraft only series would be viable on there and I have to say you’re right! I’m sure if I had the time to set down and learn it, all of the complex menus and stuff would make perfect sense but I’m on a pretty tight schedule and it’s definitely not streamlined for that.
I'm just using the version listed in ckan (though it will probably not show up unless you enable older versions as compatible) I also have the OPM True volumetrics and parallax add ons. They all seem to work pretty well, lemme know if you need links or anything! :D

Working on a light version of the mod pack I'm using, with almost none of the visual mods but everything else included so people with lower specs computers can play along too, hopefully that may work, so keep an eye out!
If you’re given the option you should be able to safely just ignore the incompatibility warning, it’s most likely from some of the older mods in the pack, they still work fine but ckan doesn’t like to think so. Lmk if that works though! :D
Part name is elevon (like the roll+pitch control surface found mostly on delta wings) but I was using them as ailerons (just roll) and airbrakes though ones like these are more so like split-flaps

Modded ksp1 is so much more fun, exciting, and better than ksp2. We never needed ksp2 in the first place, and I am a fool for buying it.

you should add RCS build aid, it shows your dry COM as well.

I think you use real plume because of the particles but I think waterfall is way better because of the mesh system

If you’re given the option you should be able to safely just ignore the incompatibility warning, it’s most likely from some of the older mods in the pack, they still work fine but ckan doesn’t like to think so. Lmk if that works though! :D

Part name is elevon (like the roll+pitch control surface found mostly on delta wings) but I was using them as ailerons (just roll) and airbrakes though ones like these are more so like split-flaps
