MK7 GTI Cobb Intake | Better than APR?

- In today’s video I show you how to install the Cobb Intake for the MK7 GTI. I included some before and after sound clips to show you the change in sound. I also explain to you why I chose this version over the one APR offers for this car. Install was pretty challenging to get everything into place but it looks great once completed.

Appreciate this video! Was super useful
Just ordered a Stage 1+ kit for my MK7, this was a huge help, I’m also in the burg
I was thinking of going the same route. Looks great man.
Good to see a new video!
Great video man
A plus for the APR is that it’s a million times easier to install
I also went Cobb, fit and finish is great and it's enclosed which keeps it cooler and quieter.
This will be me in a few weeks lol Stage 1+ here I come
I'm all Unitronic including ecu tune i had Cobb at first it was a pain in the ass
Do you have to tune your car first before adding the BOV & air intake? Also it doesn’t give CEL?? New to this, just bought myself a 2018 mk7
awesome video!! Im doing the stage 2 package from COBB once i hit 5k miles on my mk7.5. so far I installed the neuspeed short throw shift kit and the CTS BOV. She still has her paper plates lol
the stock airbox is good for up to 400hp >.> just change the filter
I heard you mention a back up camera in one of your other videos it looks like we have the same S!!! trim line by the plaid seats is the back up camera from from factory or a aftermarket one from eBay or something
If I install other brand air intake can I use Cobb stage 1 plus with it?
the factory air box will support up to around 300-350hp . cia's make more power not because more air but because "COOLER AIR" that makes the turbo work more efficiently . Lower your turbo intake temp = more boost = more power. the same goes for the turbo inlet pipe
When I installed the new air intake from Cobb the redline carbon fiber it didn’t show a video at all but installing it was common sense but the problem was the engine icon popped out and I was wondering if you had that problem as well ? What did I do wrong ? Did I Miss something? What about the secondary air system?
Air Velocity > Air Volume.
Sounds Great! Does that intake has holes on both sides of the snorkel grill side compare to the stock one in just one side?
What part # was your unit? Just unboxed mine(7V2150) and the hardware doesn't seem to come close to what their installation instructions mentioned. I'm hopeful I can just pick up the missing pieces and maybe get comped by them as I don't really want to wait any longer for install. No SS Button Head M4 x 10mm. No 4mm black nylon washers(got 5 6mms for some reason). No flange bolt M6 x12mms. No SS Socket Head M6x10mms. And I got 2 #048 worm clamps instead of a #048 and #044. It was annoying as hell to validate what was missing. But glad I did before I just went at it! Appreciate the tips in your video for things I can tackle inside beforehand!
Keeping the stock box removing the snow plate and adding a turbo inlet pipe and drop in is cheaper and has proven more power.
