      It will feel like a completely different car when you're all done. I will recommend looking into the Audi R8 Coil Packs for your engine. The reason I say this is because after testing our vehicle we found that after taking the vehicle to its limits we saw some stability issues with ignition. Now this was also the first vehicle to ever run the map, and was running on what would become the first map before it went to market, so things have been changed since, but it's always nice to give your car some extra overhead when modding. Once we installed the new coil packs, it ran like a champ.
      Hope this helps. :-)
      Cheers,

      Thanks alot! I looked up the Coil Packs and was surprised to see they are an affordable thing. My previous vehicle (mercury sedan) had coils that were about 100 a piece lol.

    Sorry for this super late comment. I was just wondering what type of pliers those are? I tried installing this intake today, only to realise that the set of pliers I had were not adequate. I need ones that keep hold of the clamps, especially with the one in the rear. Thanks

      Hey there. No worries on the comment. All are welcome, no matter far out from video posting date. I used a couple different pairs of pliers in this video. They were the older style Irwin long nose vice grips and the standard Irwin vice grips. The versions in the video were the ones with soft grip handles, but you can also get them as the bare metal version as well. I don't have any affiliations/endorsements with them but you're welcome to use my affiliate link. If they interest you, you can pick them up from Amazon or Lowes, but really you can get both from any major hardware store as well.
      If you're looking for the ones I was using specifically, you can find them using the link below. Again, this is an affiliate link, which I may be compensated for, but will get you what you're looking for.

    I notice there are no rubber "washers" around the top or back of the intake box. Won't hot air from the engine seep into it?

    I have heard this intake is now carb legal, is this true? Also, if my car is tuned stage 2 w/revo (aftermarket intake and exhaust), will the intake have problems running with this tune?

    I have that same system installed on my gti mk6, I would like to know where they sell the filter. thanks

    • @MrMcGuintysHowToGuides
      @MrMcGuintysHowToGuides  3 роки тому

      Oscar,
      The filter will depend on the year of your vehicle. Below I've listed the 2010-2014 equivalents. However, I would always recommend calling the guys at Cobb, as they know their products better than anyone and can confirm fitment for your particular install, so you get the right part the first time.
      A direct replacement for the Big SF Intake would be this:
      www.cobbtuning.com/products/air-induction/volkswagen-big-sf-intake-replacement-filter-gti-mk6-2010-2014-usdm
      If you are looking for the standard SF Intake replacement, you would be looking at this:
      www.cobbtuning.com/products/air-induction/volkswagen-sf-intake-replacement-filter-mk6-mk7-mk7-5-gti-golf-r-jetta-a7-gli
      Hope this helps.

    Without a tune, will the car get a CEL just from this intake. Its otherwise stock. CBFA

    • @MrMcGuintysHowToGuides
      @MrMcGuintysHowToGuides  4 роки тому

      You will want to make sure to remap your ECU once this has been installed. You're changing the AFR (Air/Fuel Ratio). Without a proper tune, your car will be running lean, meaning you've got too much air and not enough fuel flowing into the engine. If you don't have the COBB Tunning AccessPORT, this should be your first step. Engine management is key for a safe and stable upgrade path for your car.
      To directly answer your question, the car may not directly throw a CEL, but if pushed, you will almost certainly throw a CEL and cause issues with your engine.
      Hope this helps.
      Cheers,
      PMcG

    Will this fit 2011 VW Jetta 2.5 SEL automatic?

    I understand that the performance gains won't be anywhere near the same, but I am wanting to install the CAI before I have it tuned and then get it tuned in a couple of months time... is this possible on stock tune??

    Hopefully I can get some help here...after installing the big sf intake and flashing to stage 1+ I'm now getting a P0101 code. I will say that the pcv did not go on snug as it did in the video. As a fact it is not on all the way. Could that be the issue or perhaps a dirty maf ? Any help would be nice.

    • @MrMcGuintysHowToGuides
      @MrMcGuintysHowToGuides  6 років тому

      I would definitely start with cleaning the MAF sensor, with MAF sensor cleaner ONLY. It's dirt cheap at your local auto shops and most times will address the P0101 error, so long as it is due to a dirty sensor. You can check out ChrisFix's video on how to do it here: ua-cam.com/video/gRfaPfTcfOM/v-deo.html
      Hope this helps and keep us posted.

      So I ended up cleaning and reinstalling the MAF sensor. Cleared the codes and ran the car from home to work this morning. P0101 code came back. Like I said the PCV hose did not connect as easy as it did on the video. I removed the O-rings just to make it go in and even then it didn't install all the way on.

    how do you re-map the ECU? are talking flash?

    • @MrMcGuintysHowToGuides
      @MrMcGuintysHowToGuides  4 роки тому

      Yes, this would be a remap of the ECU (AKA flashing). Look at the COBB Tuning AccessPORT if you haven't already.

    How loud is the intake?

    • @MrMcGuintysHowToGuides
      @MrMcGuintysHowToGuides  8 років тому

      Nick,
      A sound bite of the intake is included at the end of the video (@9:45 to @10:10). If you are looking for internal sound, in the car, it's more noticeable on hard acceleration, but overall has a more free flowing sound, rather than something that is guzzling air through the RPM range.
