We are car guys, we enjoy watching car stuff, we like working on stuff, saying that, make a video of pulling the engine, mundane tasks are great to watch sometimes
I'm sure everyone remembers their first transmission pan job if it didn't come with a drain plug. It's a memory that definitely sticks with you. And you would swear that somehow more fluid came out than was ever in there in the first place.
As far as Cam not wearing safety glasses, I should let him talk to a buddy who had to get a metal shard removed from his eye. They scraped it out with a needle. His life sucked for several days. Guess who wears safety glasses all the time now??
Amen Brother! It happened to me just adjusting my Trans linkage in like 5 min. Piece of rust! Trip to ER. Cost? $2700. yep never get under an old car with out glasses, goggles or face shield.
Yeah. I never used to wear them till I got double cataract surgery. Never want to lose my vision for even a second anymore. And modern safety glasses are much more comfortable than the old chemical goggle type that we had back in the old days.
That was a pretty cool trick on bumping the engine to get to those transmission nuts off. I always take pictures before I do repairs and have a box of baggies to put bolts & nuts for each part of the disassembly. Amazon sells a universal transmission plug and is pretty inexpensive. Thanks for the video.
Time marches on, but these were great transmissions in their day. Not too heavy, reasonably compact, highly reliable, about as simple mechanically as a 3 speed automatic can get, low parasitic power losses, and able to handle a good amount of power. The C4 is still a great choice for a car that doesn't see a lot of miles per year and makes short trips.
Good Morning Jeff and Cam! Good Video fellas! Now can you redo this video with one removing the C-4 and everything, on Jack stands and laying on the cold concrete like most of us will have to do it??? lol Thanks guys, Love and blessings from Motown/Dearborn.
@@AutoRestoMod I'm just curious what is bolted to what? I thought the two engine mounts and the cross member under the rear of the trany normally support the the engine/trans combination, and with the trans removed what is there to now support the back of the engine? Did you add something? I must be missing something.
Take all the pan bolts out except two in the back you can drain the pan without a mess. When it stops draining remove them finish draining the pan. If you drop the transmission the oil cooler lines are easier to remove. Cam would not work in my shop without safety glasses.
Does cam weld naked too? Make sure you post all the videos of him catching all the rust and his eyes.. That way my kids don't think that cam being a jackass is cool!.. also post calling 911 and taking him to the ER and flushing his eyes out... I really cannot get over how irresponsible this is if this was my shop it'd be my rules... I'm really not liking cam right now
its nice to see this done on a real, driven, car and not on a museum piece that is so clean its probably never been driven.

Kudos to whoever decided to add the music to the transmission drop. Really nice touch and a great music choice.
Glad you liked it!

We even had it leak later. Just sitting in the corner.

@@allhailinternalcombustion I had mine last year. I can into the next time zone now. I wore them before. Even more so now.
Fools should have done the safety squint
Great video guys! Please do make the video on pulling the engine. I appreciate what you do showing the details on how to things like this!!

Soooo good! This video has been so helpful and i love how it shows the step by step process! Great video!
Another great video! Always good to see the details in removing the tranny or engine. Also, rather enjoyed the 80’s vibe in the bumper music
Planning to do this swap with my 1970 F100.
Go for it!
Thank you for this. If the engine needs to come out its much easier to pull the engine and trans as a unit.
We getting close to that 100K Subs! I can smell it

It’s always helpful to review the steps for a certain repair, you make it look easy. I do agree some type of eye protection is appropriate.
Thanks!
Another great video. Kudos to the camera crew and editing.
Much appreciated!
Yes, make a video on rebuilding the trans please!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Please do the engine pulling out video! Love your videos!
Absolutely need to see engine pull

So re-install it behind a 350hp small block add a 150 shot of N2O and send it? I'm sure Cam would be on my side.
You guys are nearly at 100k!
Almost there. At our current rate, it will happen around the 24th.
Hi! Thanks for the video! I have a 1975 ford maverick with a c4 transmission, how many quarts of transmission oil requires!?!
Thanks guys!
What are the bolts for the neutral safety switch?
Do the video pulling the engine..
And make a blooper reel of all the dust and crap that cam catches in his eyes..
Hahahahaha
Hey Jeff did you get the 4r70w transmission dialed in the wagon?
Very good video, thanks! Question, with the trans out what is holding the rear of the engine?
Four very tired bolts. Lol

Well, now I'll need brain bleach...
