    The Himalayan Now gets more colours such as Mirage Silver, Granite Black and Pine Green. The pricing now starts ad 2.01 lacs Exshowroom. At the front, the headlamp now has a black casing. The windshield is a taller unit, which will be functionally better and also improve the motorcycle’s road presence. The front frame located next to the fuel tank has been shortened and moved slightly forward. This change is based on user feedback, wherein some taller riders had complained about the front frame touching their knees. Another key update is new tan-coloured seat, which creates a visually appealing contrast. It will be more comfortable as well, as it utilizes high density foam. The motorcycle also gets a blacked-out heat shield for the exhaust. Luggage rack design has been updated and it now looks sturdier than that of the outgoing model. Users can expect to carry more, heavier luggage with updated Himalayan. ripper navigation will be standard equipment on-board most new / updated Royal Enfield products.

    This is the first bike in the last 20 years, which impressed me.
    I live in Europe, Germany. Here bikes often have a top speed above 200km/h. It is allowed to drive as fast as a motorbike can on highways. So this speed potential is used often.
    Interrestingly the Himalayan sells very well in Europe. In Germany in 2020 it was on position 11 of most sold bikes. This is extremly wondering because 25HP are considered as heavily underpowered. Cruising speed of about 110Km/h is unbelievable slow. :-)
    So why it is sold so well?
    It is not fuel economy, not the price, nor the technology.
    BUT:
    No other manufacturer combines so many cool features in one product.
    Reliability:
    It is basically made of metal, not of plastic. There is not to much fun technology integrated, so it runs and runs and runs without probems. And it can be repaired without problems.
    Drive an BMW or Ducati or whatever on third class roads. They will need maintenance very often.
    Maintainability:
    It is designed in a clever way, that maintenance can be made easy. Nearly every important part can be achieved easily. To design the same is very complicated and costly during development. Everywhere on this planet the bike can be repaired. So long trips can be done with it, through Europe, Africa, America. It just does not matter where you are with this bike!
    European and Japanese bikes are not constructed well. Maintenance is the hell, everything is unnecessary complicated arranged. Often special tools only available at the manufacturer are needed. Those tools are not sold on the free market. If you want for example change the spark plug, nearly everything has to be dissassembled. Its just brain dead!
    Electronics is kept as a manufacturer secret. No chance to repair it already in Eastern Europe. Don`t think about a tour in Africa...... if it needs maintenance.
    Weight:
    This bike is not too heavy. It is of course not light wight, but 190Kg are pretty OK. You can avoid crashes by support of your feets/legs.
    If you drive in example BMW with 280Kg on third class roads, you know what I mean! If the bike wants to fall down it does. Dont use your feet to avoid it! Its too heavy.
    Comfort:
    Good seat position for tall and small persons. Long distances are very good manageable. Very good handling.
    On many European/Japanese machines seat position is like a torture in the middle age! There is more comfort on a toilett. No chance to drive distances about more than 100km in one rush. Legs and back do hurt. Of course there exist bikes with good sitting positions as well..... but not many.
    Handling:
    Top driving capabilitys, a low center of gravity, high clearance.
    Engine:
    Despite it is considered to be extremely low powered in Europe, the engine runs smooth for a single cylinder. It has a lot of torque which is especially offroad or on third class roads helpful. The engine has a modern layout, is relieable, looks good, sounds good. Runs always.
    European bikes: Bigger engines have higher weight and often a higher center of gravity. Driving capabilitys are onroad and offroad worsen by this. European and Japanese manufactures add more technology to the suspensions, electronic controls and ... and .. and .... try to compensate this. Compensation is always the second choice in technology. If the base construction is done well the bike performs always better, like the Himalayan.
    Look:
    The design of the bike is awesome! It looks good it sounds good, it is not too small and not too big.
    Compare i.e. with a BMW R1200GS. decide yourself about the look.
    Technology:
    European press says this bike is low tech. Errrrr? They mix ag ood and clever construcion with low tech! The Himalayan has an electronic controlled fuel injection (carburettors are not allowed since decades), ABS. It has a fully electronic controlled cockpit and a tricky navigation system, bluetooth/mobile based. The base construction is done well, so no electronic gadgets are needed to compensate a worse design! Overall it is not rocket design, but it is up to date and can compete with European and Japanese bikes.
    Europeans are deing a worse design/tecnology and try to compensate it by electronics. Than it is considered to be up to date tech. Think yourself if this is true.
    So no wonder this bike is a top seller in Europe.
    Royal Endfield go on with this kind of bikes!

    Default manufacturing fault with RE Himalayan is as always the repeated malfunctioning of cone set which is a very critical thing as it needs to be replaced very often. Hope they have sorted the issue concerning low quality cone set.

  • @pastacan

    Shows how lazy RE is! Is there a clock on the tripper as well as the digital display under the speedo?
    RE has made zero efforts in integrating that unit, even the tripper rim design does not match the older unit.

    • @cisium1184
      @cisium1184 3 роки тому +10

      They could do all sorts of things, but it is going to cost more, which means you will pay more. It's not laziness - it's economics. All motorbikes are built to a price point, including BMWs and KTMs. I can't speak for India, but here in the States the price of REs relative to the overall build quality is a big part of why people buy them. If RE outfits the bike more, labor costs will increase, meaning RE will have to raise the price, meaning RE will sell fewer bikes. In that reality, it's just not cost-effective to fuss over dash instruments, because nobody - literally not a single solitary person in America - decides to buy a bike based on how "integrated" the dash instruments are. That's something bike journos and UA-cam commenters pretend is important.

    • @pastacan
      @pastacan 3 роки тому

      @@cisium1184 agreed the intent is to keep costs at check, and it is common to have shared parts for multiple models. But here in India, the price has now increased by 5% which is 10000 INR, and the least that one expects is that the unit sheds its chrome bezel before making its way to the Himalayan's dash.
      Would be interesting to know if people would pay 6-7k INR, if this were to be an accessory.

    I have booked Himalayan but recently I went on trip with my old Classic 350cc to Zigzag roads of Sikkim. I found it very challenging to lead the steep curves due to bike's heavy weight and that's when I got caught attention of my decision to buy Himalayan. Now am considering buying Hero Xpulse thus cancelling by booking for RE. Any comments on this would be highly appreciated.

    There are so many mechanics they don't want to open the tyres. It takes time to repair.

    40k increased for this small things
    After some time they will do some changes n the price will increase ,

    • @KJ-so9og
      @KJ-so9og 3 роки тому +1

      Not really the price is only increased 2000 only on rock red other 3 colours under it,only new pine and black cost 10k more exshowroom , only in Kerala 40k extra for pine and black only because of tax, everywhere else it's like 3 k more that's it .im from kerala and i own a 2021 himalayan rockred it costs same as it was before the update.2.45 4 months ago now it's 2.44 + crash guard extra for 1700 so it's more or less the same.

      If ur 6'2 then buy ktm adventure 390 beacause it's seat height is 855mm. If ur less than 6ft then go to Himalayan or bmw g 310 gs

      Dominar price will increase in a few months because it's still the 2020 model ,in probably June they will release 2021 model which will cost more ,that's what the dealership said.
