Sitting on Ceilings I'm Dutch and i can tell you that German is a much more harsh language then Dutch. Words that are considered rude in Dutch are used as normally in German, it hilarious.
HAHhaha Guys, you got it wrong. Suffer in the meaning of fight for what you believe, reaffirm your identity, who you really are instead of accept media standards. The two shaved hair girls are beautiful because they fought and stood for their own original identities, but to be who they are it wasn't something easy, they had to struggle. That's what she meant. It's not easy to be different, you have to suffer to stand for that.
Fernanda Ribeiro Ok, thanks for pointing that out! Now that I go back and read the original post I understand better what was being quoted. I misunderstood and thought the person was saying that to suffer for beauty was a good thing. I guess it just goes to show I should pay more attention to things like that, lol
Oh, don't worry, darling. Everyone gets things wrong at least once in a while. ;) Nice to know a doc about my country reached so many people. Thank you for watching.
this girl only talked with the rich girls who only seemed to care of beauty. I'm brazilian and you should know that only a few woman do that with their body and we have several ways of beauty.
I think what's important to point out before the hate comment flood gates open is that the problem isn't that people are getting their bodies modified in different ways, be it by getting tattooed or by getting plastic surgery. The problem is when society "decides" only one way is right and demands that everyone conforms. Don't discriminate on people just based on their looks - all that shows is how empty you are on the inside. ;)
itsmetheinterrupter Ok, I asked a simple question. What is this mess? Are those quotes other peoples comments? They barely make sense and I dont see how they are hating women. So someone makes a comment about a girls clothes and its hate? I dont-understand-a-thing of-that-comment, english!!!??
E.g. of hate comment: "Fuck them tattooed bitches, they deserve to be raped for mutilating their bodies like that." as opposed to "I personally am not a big fan of tattoos, but they shouldn't be discriminated against (especially by the police!) for how they choose to look".
Alex Rock you wouldn't know true better than me even if it's hitting I. Your face like a punch I'm no the one making the comment about anything dumbass I'm just agreeing of what William Jackson is saying and third he is not talking about the country at all he is talking about the chicks in this particular situation and their mentality so take your nationalism out your ass and think before claim that I said anything about anything
Isabella Bibiano I know now, that so many people would like to do many things, but they are afraid of what the others would think about them. The society can be very bad...
Lol shaving your hair doesn’t make you strong. That’s gay. People nowadays are so weak & pathetic. Learn to be viking strong. Knight strong. Warrior strong. Samurai strong. Not sheeple strong
I think this is because this first part are all about the rich girls (except of the two gourgeous bald girls). for next episode, problably will have much more diversity.
surgery is not rare. i know a lot of girls who already did, and they are not rich at all. Maybe they dont tell you this. Because this is a private thing.
She's so likeable with a sweet spirit ❤️😊 I'm not really into all the body mods like that but, her approachability and empathy is what makes her stand out to me.
Brazil it's a a mixed country. We can't say that exist a pattern of beauty. From poverty to wealth there are different women. This is the beauty of our country, you can see a woman with traits of different ethnicities. You can see european beauty, african beauty, oriental beauty walking down a single street. Please, do not restrict the Brazilian woman to a single standard of beauty, we we have all forms of beauty. Enjoy it, admire this. We are all unique ❤
Those girls at the beginning is beautiful omg and this video is amazing and Portuguese is such a nice language but I'm actually learning Spanish lol they're similar to me.
These documentary makes it seem like Brazilian women are oppressed into caring about their looks and wanting to look like men in Brazil like, however, it completely ignores the culture factor. Society in Brazil is not like in the U.S or Europe and is foolish to compare Brazil to Europe only from an European's perspective. Yes, Brazilian society has a lot of labels. Despite what most people think, most Brazilians have quite conservative values (and this has been shown in surveys conducted before the recent elections) so they tend to find people with tattoos and odd hair cuts (by odd I mean different not bad) strange. This is however changing rapidly and people younger than 25 have much closer values to Europeans than in generations before.
gsahrens its the same with russia, people, from europe especially, are acting so shocked about the effort russian women put into their looks while it's simply a part of the culture...
+Júlia Rangel If the girl liked that violin body why would she want to change? Sorry but it's not the girl's fault that she has a fucking hot body. If the "depressed girls" want that body start working out and eating healthy would make her have that body.
+Júlia Rangel Oh no kpop anorexic girl singers? Yeah really good example. Just to add, I'm also Brazilian and I liked kpop for a year, I have experience in that.
Honestly how the hell can you make it out like that one girl getting breast implants is her "cracking under the societal pressure." Maybe she just wants them. The same way you wanted your tongue split. Just because the surgery isn't edgy and pushing boundaries it could never be just her preference?
Yeah, I think the beauty of it is asking yourself if you really want it to feel better, because of an inner, honest desire, or just because people are telling you so. That's a very personal thing, both for the implants and the tongue split.
You're right! But grace did things that are not socially accepted (in real life, not online). That's different. But hey none of us is totally free of it, me neither. The expectations and images surround us 24/7 and become internalized. Just pointing this out 😊 that there is a pressure for sure and that yes people / women want changes themselves. Grace is actually very kind towards all the different kinds of women. I mean those with shaved heads also wear earrings and makeup and stuff. And tattoos are an adaptation as well for sure
Emily Johnson You spoke my mind. Plus, most of Brazilian women don't look like these girls, we do like pretty clothes, make up and hair care but that's not an obsession. Most of us are much more into build a professional career or taking care of our families and we don't spend our time thinking of beauty standards.
If you would love to do it and you are in the position to do it...do it.

mzChocoSensualHedbob jessica t. I actually did it and I got to say-- I have been getting a lot of positive comments/ compliments. I am still trying to get used to the look, but I actually feel..more free. Thanks for the comments xo
I'm actually so happy for you! Well done...and I'm sure it looks beautiful. I can't wait to shave mine too.

mzChocoSensualHedbob It took me six years to cut my hair and you should do it in the manner that you are most comfortable with. Maybe that means cutting it shorter till it's all gone-- or just all in one go. I am happy I did it because my hair was a great source of anxiety. Good luck boo xo
She talks about the safety and health risks of that girl getting plastic surgery in a judgmental way, when she herself has done procedures in her body that could have had the same risks. Whether you want the perfect body to fit in society, or want to be different so you feel unique, they are very similar. One thing is not better than the other, and everyone should do their thing. I just did not like her judgmental tone to these girls.
I don't think it was judgmental, it was more like a reporter(which she is) trying to look at something from all sides. I think if she were to interview herself, she'd also mention all the risks involved with what she had done to her body.
I also think you miss her point here. She was not trying to say that you shouldn't do those procedures just because they're dangerous but rather don't do it just because you feel pressured to. Do it for your concept of beauty, not society's
I was going to comment the same... like, she has done so much sh*t to her face and body just to be "different", how is that different than doing sh*t to your body to comform? Both are opposing takes on the same issue.
If people want to be "feminine" that's their right and they shouldn't be judged. It isn't feminist to be against that, that's contradicting. Everyone in this video was beautiful.
Leticia Lua yes but the thing is that you're so often judged when you're not :) ...ofcourse everyone has the right to have their own beauty preferences. But the traditional Brazilian beauty ideal is reinforced by the mainstream media :)
Conor. Please, don't use logic. Use feelings. Or do as myself and let them trash themselves at the altar of the much more severe secular God of virtue signaling they follow. That God makes the old religious one looking like a boyscout. These SJW women should be ignored. Eventually they'll win their Darwin award.
Everything in Brazil is heavier or worst to women, beauty standarts too. But there are also quite the same thing for men. Here, men must be tall, have a strong fit body and a beard to look good, and don't forget to have a white or tan skin.
I find it a bit strange that Grace said about "the extremes" these women were going through, but tells us about her shady story of how she got her tongue split
That's the whole fucking point of the video omg She did something extreme to herself, splitting her tongue sirurgically, because she wanted to and got that desire all by herself. It's not a common society pattern to think women are only beautiful if they split their tongues, which is exactly what she shows and talks about, how surgery and extreme practices are becomming common because without them society deems these people ugly, unworthy, unfinished, undesirable and below the rest.
@@ZealothiaArt "Herself". Seriously the whole video make the majority part of brazilian society ashamed. She use ONE CITY and womans that are in higher position in the society to show a whole COUNTRY "aesthetic", and a country that face serious problems with economic inequality. All this addiction just apply for who have the money for do it. And not so many people can afford this luxury. Also, "she did something that she want" it's totally bulshit, she did this because she fell comfortable to do it, just like everyone that follows the patterns also fell comfortable to do it. She's trying to say that our culture is wrong, and we should do what we want to do and not what society say, but at the same time, if we want to do the "common" "she" say that we are wrong and label us as retrograde. She is trying to apply in brazil her experience with "British" culture at the same time she generalize 200milions people in one city with 11 milions and 6 women. This whole video is disgusting even before we think about the philosophy behind it.
But that's the point, brazilian culture doesn't allow a bigger extreme than shaving your head. Being bald is extreme enough because beyond that you're isolated and can only walk amongst the same, the under the standard girls only hung out with the British girl because they were going to appear in an international youtube video, because otherwise they would judge her and NEVER befriend her.
O nome do vídeo é "extreme beauty addiction"..................
This may be the 3rd time I have watched this. My first ever Grace Neutral series and Brazilian beauty standards have never left my soul :( I'M EVEN SO INTO LAY DIRTY'S MUSIC FOR MONTHS NOW TOO
I like that the message is to embrace individuality especially when it comes to beauty standards ...I loved that! However, it felt like you already held preconceived judgement on the other blonde girl because hers is more like a conformity to the more popular beauty standards.
Julier Reis I did shortly after I took my profile picture last year 👈🏾 it's so freeing. Boosted my confidence and I have this new i don't give a fuck attitude too. 💪🏾
Julier Reis beauty comes in many forms , individuality is so important dont let magazines or media dictates you. or how you should be , be who you want to be and free your self i do appreciated people who are brave enough to be themselves and show it to the Word .like these two girls with shaved heads.
This serie about the brazilian beauties' difference are changing me, for better. And i'm in love with this reporter, Grace, she's gorgeous. Like her i love the difference and this is a motive for celebrate and doesn't hate.
aaaand, as always, Brazil is reduced to being either Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo, with no mention whatsoever to the rest of the countrie's particular, traditional and cultural ways of expression and beauty. oh well. (cadê as maria bonita PORRA)
That is obvious. There is so much time you can spend on a vídeo talking about Brazil, só they talk about where most people live. What did you want? Tô talk about São Luís? Lol
I was going to make a point be saying that probably most people would live in those city's, But then i did the research and figured out only about 9 percent of Brazilian population takes up those 2 city's.
So the whole point of the series is Grace being appreciative of "all forms of beauty" but she disregards the personal trainer just because her passion is working out and fitness, like she's somehow trying to fit into some mold of popular beauty... Would Grace find her more attractive is she was fat and sat and home all day eating junk food?? Some people enjoy working out... Even get a rush from the endorphins... Meanwhile Grace gets a rush from cutting up her body and staining her skin and eyeballs... To each their own, but I really can't stand Grace's biased approach at covering stories. It's like she finds people with tattoos and body mods to be some superior "badass" group, and everyone else is just trying to conform to a stereotype. Let's see how badass Grace can be when she's being chased by a rapist... I think the personal trainer would have a better shot at running faster or being more able to defend herself. And what's not badass about being a strong woman. Whatever your passion is, it's not fair to criticize someone else's and scoff it off just because it's not your thing. Grace needs to pull her head out of her ass and realize body mods aren't everything that's wonderful in this world... When someone's trying to share their passion with you, you should appreciate the time they're spending with you and not disregard their lifestyle choices. I didn't see the personal trainer staring at Grace's appearance... She didn't even mention it at all. Ugh and then the part after the dr appointment when she said "it's crazy the lengths that women are going thru to attain their ideals of beauty"... But in the same breath she described her first body mod as being forcibly held down by 2 huge dudes while they cut her tongue in half without any anesthetic and not a completely sterile environment... Everything she says is a contradiction! I remember in an interview, she explained that she ate a piece of her skin after a scarification session! What about that is an "expression of beauty"? Sounds more like an introduction into cannibalism.
Yeah I find it annoying too that she says "we're all beautiful" with an undertone of "if you are mainstream you're just not as great". She criticizes the pressure to be mainstream while exerting pressure to "be individual". iD should have just cut out the segments about mainstream beauty and focus on alternative beauty....in this way they get the message across without looking hypocritical.
Nabbitch The Rabbitch She explained that the gym life was not the lifestyle for her, but was laughing and rolling her eyes as she said it... And the preface to her meeting with the personal trainer, was explaining how this trainer had thousands of followers on social media, all desperate to attain the "physical beauty stereotype" as what is "popular" for Brazil. Idk if you've seen Grace's report on Korean beauty standards, but she takes the same attitude... she interviews a variety of people, but each interview of someone without any body mods/tattoos seems judgmental and calculated. She isn't a proper interviewer at all... a true journalist will enter an interview with an interviewee without a hint of bias... Yeah, she didn't exactly diss the personal trainer, but it's funny how she spent several hours with her and less than a minute was spent hearing the personal trainer's opinions... Meanwhile she went on and on about the other girls just cause they had short hair and tattoos... Biased as fuck. And I did say, to each their own in regards to the lengths that people go thru to attain their own standard of beauty... but she's trying to assert some opinion that because a woman goes to an actual trained physician for a boob job in a sterile hospital environment... that it is such a high risk and such a great length... when a sentence later she explains how she allowed non medically trained "big tattooed dudes" hold her down and cut her tongue open in a non sterile environment with trance music blaring in the background.... I never said she couldn't do what she wanted with her body... I think you missed my point that it isn't fair for her to judge someone for going to a medical professional to attain their beauty ideal as "going to such great lengths" when she's the one who's actually going through much greater lengths.... like I said, hypocritical and so contradictory... You clearly didn't carefully read my original comment... otherwise your "her tongue, she can do what she wants with it" comment wouldn't be included in your response.
One more thing I'd love to add is... The moment Grace approached the two short haired and tattooed girls she exclaimed "oh my gosh, you're so inspirational"... That tells you quite a lot, doesn't it... What about the woman who has put in hours and hours at the gym to build her body strong??? Is that not inspirational???? She is judging the tattooed girls as amazing, purely based on their "badass" appearance... she does not know them at all... hell, she doesn't even know the language.... she is calling them amazing and inspirational purely on their aesthetic looks... I think that speaks volumes as to who Grace actually is... natural beauty is nothing to her.. unless you're "badass" and have tattoos, she is completely uninterested.
Although i do think Grace might be biased to be more rebel than cheering on the mainstream, I do not think she doesn't except it. She said that everybody is beautiful in her/his own way, but the reason why someone would modify his/her body is for different reasons. Grace and the two shaven head girls are the ones who want to rebel against the mainstream and want to show their new found individuality through their own body. Because the beauty they seek is outside the borders of mainstream. Whereas the three girls would modify their bodies also to express their individuality but inside the mainstream region. And the three girls are the majority, with the personal trainer getting close these days. The most of us are exposed to this type of media and are influenced by this. But isn't it a good thing that someone with a different mindset from the majority asks critical questions? I think it's important to question our own reasoning behind our decisions. Is my expression of beauty laid upon me, or chosen by me? It's important to be aware of your own identity. The personal trainer spoke of a collective, "men find this body attractive". She speaks of the human body as a beautiful sculpture, if that's what you want then please go for that. But do that of your own account. And that's the main difference between Grace's mindset (plus possibly the two shaven head girls) and the P.T. + 3 other girls. Is it Brazil's beauty standard or my own?
Priscilla and Tais(sp?) are two of the most beautiful women Ive ever seen! That happy confidence and pure beauty is something we need more of in the world
If someone believes a 'mainstream' form of beauty is in fact beautiful.. Shouldn't we allow THEM to pursue their preferred look rather than shaming them for enjoying something 'mainstream'?
I love how throughout her speech on how the humann body is beautiful throughout all its forms she literally shows the status quo of mainstream beauty. Yay for diversity and fuglys?
Did you even watch this? Did you see the 2 girls at 1:32 ?? They are a complete opposite of mainstream "beautiful." They don't have long straight hair and a lean tone body! I think you might wanna rewatch!
What's wrong with showing what the status quo is of mainstream beauty? It's called contrast. At least she's not glorifying it. In fact, it seems like she glorifies everything BUT mainstream beauty...
Yeah cause they got all the curvs 😒 Such a unique beauty... Im being sarcastic btw. They're just the same pretty girls with a little bit of boldness in them. Not that im demeaning those qualities, but to a gay brazilian guy like me they dont seem too alternative. I see these girls all around Brazil, especially in cities like BH. They're common and sometimes very self righteous. I think it might be personal lol
Wakko she's here to show different beauty. But shes just showing Brazilian beauty. For any alternative people, anyone who looks different feels pretty forgotten or omitted. It's aggravating to me.
This documentary is incredible !! And it really talks about a lot of the women in Brazil, but the bad thing is that you only get high-class women, those who dress up, do surgeries, etc. Many of us (including myself) do not have enough money to pay all this and has natural beauty (incredible qlho) and also gave the impression that we are fanatic for beauty and do everything for her, but apart from that, this documentary is incredible!
two things bothers me about this video: 1- all the girls were skinny , even the "Non standard" ones. We have such a diversity of bodies here. Also most of the girls shown are white, long straight hair... So yeah, not so representative (but i understand bc if you had to show how diverse we are the video would be 4 days long) 2- On how it seemed like, maybe unconsciously, that the bald girls are "the cool ones"? I mean they are cool but there was a huge gap on showing the girls doing tattoos and being cool and talking about the time she punched a guy versus the girl going to the doctor and going out and wanting to get a boobjob even if it meant she would be more likely to get raped, which doent even make sense and it makes the girl seems stupid compared w/ the bald "cool chick" (on a sidenote: what the f w/ asking so many questions about the surgery, anyway? Was it a attempt to make the girl change her mind?). I think it was unecessary, especially bc the girl that wants to get the surgery seems to have a good head above her shoulders I liked the video but as a brazilian girl it left me w/ a bitter taste in my mouth ):
Stop crying, there are a lot of whites and also a lot of castizos( almost predominant whites but with a bit of amerindian)in Brazil. Brazil is not only favelas and not only coastal areas.
I think she asked so much about the surgery because the video was about beauty standards. A breast enlargement would be a huge step to conforming to those standards. So we have one side: bald girls, "opposite of standart", and long-haired girls, going under the knife to conform. I think the bald ones seemed "cool" because they enhanced their edgyness. btw not judging plastic surgery
Yeah, it felt like taking sides (asking for a message from the bald girls, the host hanging out with the bald girls in the end) instead of showcasing diversity of people's perspective on beauty standards. But idk, it's just the way I see it. I do need some enlightenment on the purpose of this video.
Generally when you show the world what a country is all about, advertisers promote the minority lifestyle representation rather than the majority. It's only after you visit the country that you realise there's more to the country that's being advertised.
I feel like these 12 minutes were really one sided and Didn't explore alternative beauty , but just compared it. They accepted alternative beauty, but they played mainstream beauty & gyming as a wholly negative thing, without accepting the fact that some women do want to modify their bodies (be it with surgery, or 2 hours at the gym) because they enjoy it and like the way they look afterwards. They did show the girls saying that they do it for themselves, for the sake of their own self-esteem, but it was presented as if this was a result of being pressured to believe that this is beauty. The alternative (to mainstream) beauty is beautiful, but recognise that's not the only beautiful and authentic form of beauty....also i feel like alternative beauty wasn't really explored, but just compared (as said) to mainstream beauty: I would like to learn how Alternative beauty affects/inspires society; how many people are involved in this representation of beauty; why people choose to present themselves this way; how do the majority view alternative beauty; a diverse account of people's experiences with alternative beauty. Lastly, her breast and risk of being attack is a subject objectification and sexulisation not risks we take to look like models. Why should the girl not follow through with what she wants because of those monsters. What happened to the idea that we should teach not to rape before how not to get raped? I really hope that i learn more about alternative beauty in the episodes to follow. I guess this comparison was a good place to start off to give an understanding of what alternative beauty is...
yeah and also the fact grace relates bigger breasts to a higher risk of rape which is bullshit, girls get raped because they're girls, not because of their body or clothes. also i felt she was blaming the girl for her choices in a way??like as if she was saying 'well if you haven't done that breast surgery or if you weren't so obsessed about the idea of the perfect body you wouldn't get raped' as if saggy breasted girls weren't raped too or smth
I almost laughed when she said that plastic surgery is just like body modification (which she has done a lot) and then later proceeds to kind of talk down on plastic surgery. That made her sound like a hypocrite.
grace's voice is so wonderful and smooth and her voiceovers are super good i can say in an almost creepy sounding way that thoroughly enjoy hearing her speak haha :)
You should go to Wellington, New Zealand since it generally accepts and encourages creativity and expression. It would be interesting to see a video on it.
Okay, Brasil is a really really diverse country, with million of African, European, Asian and a lot of other countries descendants. So yes; I’ll say that Brasil is a country where having a specific beauty standard is hard; we are really influenced by the European culture; but we are different here. There are a lot of white people and there are a lot of black people too. I think that everyone has its own beauty, but if you feel like you want to change something in your body, do it. You’re beautiful just the way you are and you deserve to be happy and in peace with your mind and your body. I love my country and I hate all the negativity that this video is showing. Please, could you make a video showing all the beauty of my country instead of only showing the bad side?
Colombian here, very interesting video, I think the topic is worthy of further discussion beyond a skimming on beauty standards. Take a look to my city Medellin, where "beauty standards" and the market developed around it does not discriminate social classes.
I have only disliked the way that they talked about rape, like it was some kind of "compliment", which in the case, the hotter they are, it is more likely that they will be raped. No, gurls, just no.
A Grace perguntou aquilo nesse sentido. No one used rape as a 'compliment at all. What happens is that society see's women's breast as a sexual object, the bigger it is the more attention it gains and the women becomes even more sexualized. If with just a normal body its already dangerous for women to walk alone on the streets and/or gain unwanted attention from men, imagine after getting breast augmentation... Grace asked the girl if it was worth it, and she said yes. That's all.
Ótimo documentário e a Gracy é tao fofa!
Congratulation, you were able to see a little bit of the great diversity of my country, even though we have many other styles and worlds around the country. I'm really happy with your experience here. Welcome always!
The personal trainer trains around 20 hours a week. I doubt the reporter spends 20 hours a week tatooing herself. Her body would quickly run out of space.
It's interesting but i feel like everyone in the video needs some therapy. It feels like the most important and interesting think about all these people is the way they look. The content of your head is more important than that you shave your head.
A garota corta a língua no meio e quer julgar quem põe silicone.
I once stayed with a Brazillian girl, she is super beautiful and all her friends are beautiful. They all look pretty white to me. But they also have this sharp look to them with more define lines and feature. Brazillian and Columbian are truly something.
Portuguese is such a beautiful language
Yes, it is!
Agreed!
However In Portugal it does sound different

This is so common here in Brazil! ☺
Deixe ela

Brazil: "I'm addicted to beauty"
Korea: ".... hold my kimchi ramen"
They are both addicted
Ikr? I'm brazilian and I thought the same thing
I think pressure for beauty in Korea is a lot worse
"To be yourself you need to suffer, pretty thing" beautiful
Sam Tanna what a ru body quote
+Conor That's exactly what I was just thinking. It's sad, really, that the world we live in sees suffering for the sake of beauty as "a good quote."
Exatamente

I think what's important to point out before the hate comment flood gates open is that the problem isn't that people are getting their bodies modified in different ways, be it by getting tattooed or by getting plastic surgery. The problem is when society "decides" only one way is right and demands that everyone conforms. Don't discriminate on people just based on their looks - all that shows is how empty you are on the inside. ;)
Yes!
What kind of comments constitute as hate for you ?
itsmetheinterrupter Ok, I asked a simple question. What is this mess?
Are those quotes other peoples comments?
They barely make sense and I dont see how they are hating women.
So someone makes a comment about a girls clothes and its hate?
I dont-understand-a-thing of-that-comment,
english!!!??
E.g. of hate comment: "Fuck them tattooed bitches, they deserve to be raped for mutilating their bodies like that." as opposed to "I personally am not a big fan of tattoos, but they shouldn't be discriminated against (especially by the police!) for how they choose to look".
I don't know why any people have to put another type of people or style down to feel good or beautiful etc. I really hate society

I didn't really learn that much about Brazil by watching this. I feel like it was just "Look at me we're so pretty, now we're going out."
PMSing Nun that's basically all of South America. They have beauty ideals, tons of surgery, etc. Almost everyone seems to be an extrovert too.
Surgery is rare. I don`t know anyone who did it.
I think this is because this first part are all about the rich girls (except of the two gourgeous bald girls).
for next episode, problably will have much more diversity.
surgery is not rare. i know a lot of girls who already did, and they are not rich at all.
Maybe they dont tell you this. Because this is a private thing.

This is however changing rapidly and people younger than 25 have much closer values to Europeans than in generations before.
gsahrens Yeah, I agreed. Brazil is conservative, and this is good.
gsahrens its the same with russia, people, from europe especially, are acting so shocked about the effort russian women put into their looks while it's simply a part of the culture...
omfg wtf is wrong with you? Ur such a mean bitch. You are a fucking piece of shit in this world.
Just to add, I'm also Brazilian and I liked kpop for a year, I have experience in that.
the two bald girl! i like them so much they are so inspiring!! so much confidence and they move freely!
This doesn’t show the Brazilian reality.
Both cases are about "breaking under social pressure". But we always judge the other on our own ruler.

mzChocoSensualHedbob It took me six years to cut my hair and you should do it in the manner that you are most comfortable with. Maybe that means cutting it shorter till it's all gone-- or just all in one go. I am happy I did it because my hair was a great source of anxiety.

Aline Pittner late reply, but she has mentioned in many interviews the risks she's gone through to modify herself, especially her eye tattoos.
I don’t see her being judgmental, she is a reporter and the modifications she went through pose different threats than what she is documenting
I've always wanted to know how many times you can say "mainstream" in a 12 minute video... thank you for this, very informational.

Why is it mostly about females? Not that that's wrong, but i would like to see more about boys and beauty and fash
agreed
Here in Brazil is more normal female activist than male
agreed
This is the first epizode in a new series, so i think there will be also something about boys, just like in the korean series.
Everything in Brazil is heavier or worst to women, beauty standarts too. But there are also quite the same thing for men. Here, men must be tall, have a strong fit body and a beard to look good, and don't forget to have a white or tan skin.
Living for these series!
I find it a bit strange that Grace said about "the extremes" these women were going through, but tells us about her shady story of how she got her tongue split
That's the whole fucking point of the video omg
She did something extreme to herself, splitting her tongue sirurgically, because she wanted to and got that desire all by herself.

+Badstuber Me economiza, embuste.
I REALLY love this series. I hope to see many, many more episodes!
This may be the 3rd time I have watched this. My first ever Grace Neutral series and Brazilian beauty standards have never left my soul :( I'M EVEN SO INTO LAY DIRTY'S MUSIC FOR MONTHS NOW TOO
We need a third season! This series is so beautiful.
GRACE IS BACK
I like that the message is to embrace individuality especially when it comes to beauty standards ...I loved that! However, it felt like you already held preconceived judgement on the other blonde girl because hers is more like a conformity to the more popular beauty standards.
Guys likes long hair, that's why I always cut mine hahah To shave my hair like those ladies is my dream!
Congratulations on ur opinion
I feel bad for you if your actions are determined by what men don't like. Feminism really took a tool on you poor thing.
This has almost nothing to do with feminism, ''Mr Omar''... more like gender expression.
Like her i love the difference and this is a motive for celebrate and doesn't hate.
i could watch this girl all day long. ples more
I think Grace is beautiful
Sphinx sigh i thought this was about black beauty
kissing could be pretty funny
Grace isn´t crazy. she just got rid of the beauty ideals and she´s living HER life how SHE wants.
Whyfy .
I didn't even know we had an obsession
Grace neutral is the most inspirational and sweet reporter ever. some reporters annoy me for many reasons but not Grace.
As a brazilian, I have to thank you guys for bringing another perspective from the brazilian beauty cult. Amazing!
aaaand, as always, Brazil is reduced to being either Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo, with no mention whatsoever to the rest of the countrie's particular, traditional and cultural ways of expression and beauty.
J3lbow Exactly! And people think that because those are the places that are shown on most of the media...
Nabbitch The Rabbitch
She explained that the gym life was not the lifestyle for her, but was laughing and rolling her eyes as she said it...
Beautifully expressed
These girls are exactly the kind of girl who would bully you if there weren't cameras around
Ana Luiza da Silva Garcia they would probably chase you down and want to cut of your hair haha
This is such a judgemental and nasty comment, how can you preach about not caring for looks and judging someone by their looks?
WHICH of these girls?
Yasmin the girl who want to do the surgery and her friends!!
how tf are you so sure bout dat?
Im soooo glad that there are channels like this in the world, what a beatiful segment
Its a series gurl, wait and see
Did you even watch this? Did you see the 2 girls at 1:32 ?? They are a complete opposite of mainstream "beautiful." They don't have long straight hair and a lean tone body! I think you might wanna rewatch!
What's wrong with showing what the status quo is of mainstream beauty? It's called contrast. At least she's not glorifying it. In fact, it seems like she glorifies everything BUT mainstream beauty...
Yeah cause they got all the curvs 😒
Such a unique beauty...
Unreal, Love this so much!!! OMG the two girls RESPECT for being themselves xoxox
This documentary is incredible !! And it really talks about a lot of the women in Brazil, but the bad thing is that you only get high-class women, those who dress up, do surgeries, etc. Many of us (including myself) do not have enough money to pay all this and has natural beauty (incredible qlho) and also gave the impression that we are fanatic for beauty and do everything for her, but apart from that, this documentary is incredible!
two things bothers me about this video:
1- all the girls were skinny , even the "Non standard" ones. We have such a diversity of bodies here. Also most of the girls shown are white, long straight hair... So yeah, not so representative (but i understand bc if you had to show how diverse we are the video would be 4 days long)
2- On how it seemed like, maybe unconsciously, that the bald girls are "the cool ones"? I mean they are cool but there was a huge gap on showing the girls doing tattoos and being cool and talking about the time she punched a guy versus the girl going to the doctor and going out and wanting to get a boobjob even if it meant she would be more likely to get raped, which doent even make sense and it makes the girl seems stupid compared w/ the bald "cool chick" (on a sidenote: what the f w/ asking so many questions about the surgery, anyway? Was it a attempt to make the girl change her mind?). I think it was unecessary, especially bc the girl that wants to get the surgery seems to have a good head above her shoulders
I liked the video but as a brazilian girl it left me w/ a bitter taste in my mouth ):
This is a way longer documentary than this one clip. It's not as one sided as you think 🤷
I thought the exact same thing
I almost laughed when she said that plastic surgery is just like body modification (which she has done a lot) and then later proceeds to kind of talk down on plastic surgery. That made her sound like a hypocrite.
the two shaved head girls were really cute :)
thays and priscila were so refreshing to listen to
grace's voice is so wonderful and smooth and her voiceovers are super good i can say in an almost creepy sounding way that thoroughly enjoy hearing her speak haha :)
I've been counting the seconds until the next episode😩😩 it's sooooo good!!
Also, what's the song in the beginning?
The second one?
I love graces style confidence!!!!!
That's all.
The girls with the buzz cuts are 😍
...attention whores
you can tell that from the way they look and how much metal they haul around even though they're poor.
I subscribed to this channel only because of you Grace Neutral. Only watch your videos.
This was an awesome documentary and quite informative. Great job Grace Neutral any i-D.👏👏💕
Good thing this was released right before Halloween!
I follow those two bald chicks on Instagram they're gorgeous! it's nice seeing them in this video
what are they're names on instagram?? they are so beautiful * - *
*i-D:* body positivity for all women!
*i-D:* ** as long as you're slim, able bodied, light skinned, and model pretty
Watch the beginning again.
petarinabug did you not watch the video or any of the i-D videos?
It's actually pretty much the opposite (and I don't mean that in a good way). *Fuck you if you're classically pretty*
How can she be so beautiful??
Pero que buen documentaaall!!! Saludos desde Chilee!
Love her reporting style! Very well done and eye opening.
Does she understand portuguese? Or is it that the people being interviewed know how to speak in english?
Shin Seokjin I don't know but I guess they know English
I think there’s a translator with her
Translator..
They have an interpreter
?
Ótimo documentário e a Gracy é tao fofa!
anyone notice no face from spirited away 6:43
Those two girls with their heads shaved were absolutely stunning!
Congratulation, you were able to see a little bit of the great diversity of my country, even though we have many other styles and worlds around the country. I'm really happy with your experience here. Welcome always!
Yeah, going to the gym is an "obsession", but spend hours having tattoos done is not?
The personal trainer trains around 20 hours a week. I doubt the reporter spends 20 hours a week tatooing herself. Her body would quickly run out of space.
Nim Boo Ok dude. Here's the attention you were seeking. NEXT
Nim Boo amen, reverend. Bless these souls
The personal trainer's job is also 'to train'. Could explain the hours... smh
Nim Boo ROFL satanic lizard faces pretty much nailed the look in three words. kudos.
the apartment larissa lives in is nice !
It's interesting but i feel like everyone in the video needs some therapy. It feels like the most important and interesting think about all these people is the way they look. The content of your head is more important than that you shave your head.
Andrew Boss agreed
Unusual as always. Big hug!!
The two will bald fades are the best!
A garota corta a língua no meio e quer julgar quem põe silicone.
Yuri Santos kkkkk vdd.
Pensei a mesma coisa...
Eu fiquei meio assim pq o padrão geral do brasil é "corpão", o slim-thic, e europa n, então n fez sentido
When you also speak portuguese and can't concentrate when they speak english and portuguese simultaneously 6:32
I once stayed with a Brazillian girl, she is super beautiful and all her friends are beautiful. They all look pretty white to me. But they also have this sharp look to them with more define lines and feature. Brazillian and Columbian are truly something.
bomapdich *colombian
True beauty is inner natural beauty shining through... Free from modifications.
