My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.
Watching Chey’s cousin help him work out was wonderful. His family really does care about him, which is saying a lot considering so many people don’t have that in their life. Fighting an addiction is never easy- but a strong support system can really make a difference. I hope Chey succeeds in reaching his life goals. He seems like such a sweet young man
She's s sweet young woman now, actually...
They should mention that in this video, since it's part of the episode.
I'd really like an episode where all those former patients of Dr. Now come back in, say, 5 years later and show how they are doing now.
There is.
OH GREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!
There is. It's called "where are they now"
They have done that already 😅 there has been many episodes about we’re are they now
They’ve had those. They’re called “… where are they now?”
Sorry, but the truth is his grandmother was his enabler. Yes, it’s mostly his fault but she helped. In the end it’s his life so I’m not gonna make fun of him, but he AND his grandmother caused his situation.
Chay's mom looks more masculine than he does
Can we give it up for the cousin Cody, though? I'd love to work out with him.
Totally ❤
His story is heartbreaking; You honored your grandma buddy ❤
1:21 "Chay eats too much!" Have you looked into the mirror lately, lady? Guess who he's got it from.
Hes really mobile unlike the other patients.
That's cause he's stilo really young but its not gonna last long
Food is not "there for you."
It's just there.
This is such a beautiful story! I’m so happy for him! ❤
It's good that he got to talk to his mom. Sometimes it's not possible to talk to someone who has hurt you -- they might not even listen or care. I am really proud of this guy!
Chey is clearly playing with the idea of a gender transition. I hope he decides not to do it. He seems like a sweet and good-hearted young man; but social media can be very toxic, and being stuck indoors with only the internet to connect with others can twist your mind before you even realize it is happening. I’m afraid he’s being pulled into this toxic ideology as a replacement for his food addiction. I’d love to see an update on how he’s doing today.
Grandma says he eats too much but she isn’t too far behind…
What was grandpa doing this whole time? He certainly seemed capable
Capable of what? What was it exactly that you wanted him to be doing?
@@mcmlxii4419umm care for his wife? The show said Chey was the caregiver, but I doubt it.
My question is is why is the rest of the family huge as well and then they’re the ones passing judgment on the one who’s 600 pounds when they’re about two or 300 pounds overweight themselves. I’m sick of it. Isn’t there one of these guys who has a skinny family?
There's something that's never mentioned in these videos, the huge elephant in the room: the responsibility of ultraprocessed foods in the obesity epidemic in the US.
Eh...nobody's holding a gun to anyone's head and forcing them to eat this ultra processed food.
Nope, it’s a choice. Millions of people eat unprocessed food and can maintain their weight. That’s just an entitled excuse to blame anything but yourself.
Ultra processed food is such a huge factor, along with in the u.s. sugar is in almost everything. Even so called packaged healthy foods have tons of sugar in them.
If you watched the actual show you'd know that the diet they're put on is
"real food"
@mcmlxii4419 I'm not sure if it is actually true but I was told of a study that showed that heavily processed foods are made in such a way to make someone feel hungrier even after eating a good amount of it. Yes I 100% agree that it is personal choice, but at the same time. If that is true it should be outlawed.
Do you guys not watch the videos at all and hear how their names are pronounced because it’s really irritating that you mispronounced their name
Yes, names are important!
They just read a script. They screw names up in every video they release.
sometimes threy are AI voices. We have a voice on the answer machine when we ring our doctors' surgery and I just assumed it was one of the doctors' voices. Then I heard the voice on a US UA-cam video.
Doesnt😮matter, you have to focus this obese, they eat like 5 people!
Worse still is the vocal fry this female narrator has !
One of the major problems with addiction is the undiagnosed or untreated cause. The addiction is the body’s coping mechanism for some sort of stress that the person is running from
It's also laziness in that they don't even try to better themselves.
They want to blame everyone and everything for their problems and addictions.
It's a level of denial that is extremely difficult to change.
@@kimdasko6952you arent a psychologist (neither am I) but it IS an addiction that is a response to some sort of trauma. If it was just purity laziness, there wouldnt be the need for therapists on the show. There is a LITERAL reason why these people get therapy while filming.
Bravo to Chay.
He's come a long way.
His grammie was also too heavy
"I hear the Snickers"
That's not all you do with them.
😅😊
I can't believe that they know he is struggling with eating healthier choices but they still eat junk in front of him.
Thanks to his uncle and families for being by his sides through all those difficult time.
He has to move on after his grandma died. Grief counseling would be helpful. Lose the weight in her honor.
I can sympathize. Ihad no familial support growing up
You are 100% responsible for what you put in your mouth. Nobody ties you down and crams food down your throat.
Very proud of you Chay
gramma could drop 200
She should serve as a warning. IMO they don't focus enough on loved one's illnesses and deaths on this show. But I guess it's not really here to help people.
Mom could drop 100.
Damn I thought that was a woman
I think some Testosterone replacement therapy would be beneficial to these men.
I've been noticing that too. They don't grow leg hair. Or arm or facial hair. They have gynecomastia. They gain in the same areas as women...
Me too 😮
Me too 😮
He actually transitions during the episode. I don't know why they don't bring that up...
@@alex-qd6of He's still a man. A person can't "transition" into a different gender.
Just the basic principle OF "gender" is based on biology and what you are born as. It's not based on how you dress or what you identify as.
A human cannot "transition" into a different body. Only a caterpillar or maybe a tadpole can do that.
Wonder what these ppl are going to do when food gets hard to get
They're going to feel a rush of relief. Because they won't have the choice anymore. ❤
Same as everyone else will do. There won't be any fast food places left, nor any restaurants. It's going to be a matter of those who have the tiniest amount of space available to grow their food will, and others will not.
Elderly people like me aren't going to be worried for ourselves, I hope (I'm certainly not worried about myself), but I do think about my friends, all of whom are in their mid-to-late 40s and have young families.
I am so very proud of Chay and I'm happy that other family members have been there for him and chose to be his cheerleaders! Awesome job Chay! 👏👏
I'm just watching this episode and I have lost my dear grandmother and father and I have other problems like most people, but I don't complain as much as this lady does about a serious health threat she is allowing to continue
Wonderful
Eyes are on you for the wrong reason???Really?
Does he get psychological help? This is necessary
Great job!! Your Grandmother is soooo 😂proud of you Chay😂❤ May she Rest In Paradise ❤
He’s exercising . Bravo!
Damn. People are literally starving and this guy eats like a king and doesn't even work.
He was such an adorable little boy.
This is one of the sad ones 😔💔
Isn't it weird? I could be so hungry and then become so stressed out that I totally lose my appetite!
I worked with an RN who was 5'3" and weighed 92 pounds at her heaviest. She has super high metabolism, so burns off every calorie nearly as soon as it's in her body.
When she went through a divorce ten years ago, she frightened all of us by losing ten pounds because she was too upset to eat.
Not eating is worse than a bit of overeating when you realize just how little reserve anything there is in a person who's already tiny all the time.
My mother physically and emotionally abused me. It's not an excuse. I lost 100 pounds.
Congratulations. You arent the same person. You want a cookie or salad?
You clearly arent happy if youre looking at people with venom filled eyes. People respond to trauma differently and you arent special for losing 100 pounds.
Way to go Chay!
Good for you Chay ; I hope you keep it up 😊
Hope He turns it around 💯
Yo, Did he DEEP FRY bacon????
yes.
You can see chay cousin hope go up and down. The girl one ,
Chay can make it but as a man he needs to realize that he doesn’t always have someone to lean on ! He has to man up and fight through for himself
Why not? Men are capable of asking for help. Knowing when you need to do that, is part of growing up, and "Manning up".
But that's irrelevant, because Chey transitioned to female. 🙃
It's pretty obvious Chay isn't the macho sort of person you seem to think men are supposed to be.
It’s nice that he thought about keeping the journey going in honor of grandma
Among the huge list of other reasons
Thanks for the upload!
My mom did the same.
Why do they always live in crack dens
Success is that best ReVeNgE
He eats too much ?? You think so
What a great story! I wish him well 😢
You can see the genetic part of the problem by looking at grandma...genetics is half the battle i could eat all day long for years and never break two hundred pounds
It absolutely is. But that doesn't really help.
Not genetic. They inherited obesity from their plates, not their genes. Poor excuses for gluttony,
Sad
This generation with so much unhealthy food and distraction with social media or gaming , will be the most unhealthy. Having heart disease before 40 will be common. Sad 😳
He was using grandma's death as an excuse.
But he went on to lose weight.
Grandmother and grandfather obese too. Why focus only on him?
But but but......a mans gotta eat. Give me a break.
oh, my!
I would had sworn... That he was female. 🤷
He is now.
@@cyrene7784 Nope. Still a man. Effeminate granted, but still a man. And still fat.
@@cyrene7784 Well, he looks more female now.
He wasn't, but now "is."
He might think he is, but he most definitely still is male. Always will be.
So happy for this young man ❤
❤
Thought he was transitioning to become a woman last time i heard .
He did.
He cannot start out working out to much
A young female Peter Griffin.
Biological born male, male DNA 🧬
So that a girl?
Well, he is now.
@@josephgaviota Well, he looks more like a girl now.
No. Born male; "transitioned."
Making the grandma's passing as an excuse.
Does he want cheese with that whine? (probably). He is getting help now and should be grateful.
He is greatful
the only person he had left was his grampa really, can you say you had it worse?
Yes I did. My mum died when I was 13 and I only had my dad. It was like living with a stranger because, until this happened he was very distant and after my mum's death we argued lots. It was like living in hell until I went to Uni though we got closer before he died when I was 23 and then had no one.
@@teaacustardcream2868 *GRATEFUL
Chay needs to work on his appearance...loose the headbands and some hair....look at yourself and you may feel better that you can be a decent-looking man (?)...that should wake you up to reality
It’s hard to tell if Chay is male, female or something in between.
*LOSE
@@ccf8093 You know, you COULD edit the actual word.
Born male, then "transitioned" after the show.
Man???
Born one, yes. No longer sees himself as such.
The boy whom cried girl. Did no-one hear him?
4:30 "Mom," the lespin.
Another prime example of aboriton being the ONLY good, moral option out there. And will keep being so until we fix major issues in childcare.
There is always Adoption for families who cannot have children.
@@c.joyceb.8991 Yeah. We have MILLIONS of those. *No-one* wants them. Supply and demand. We even off hundreds of them daily because no-one wants to step up.
So: No.
@@KattlarvAnd there aren't MILLIONS and no one is "offing" hundreds of kids daily - except for through Abortions.
And why cant you just not have sex?
Or use more forms of birth control?
Why is MURDER the answer to you? And why do you think its okay to murder innocent babies at one age but not another? It's wrong at any age, btw. And what happened to "my body, my choice"? If someone wants to live, let them. If they decide later they want to end it, then that's their decision.
You shouldn't be the judge of who dies. That's dangerous. I shouldn't be the judge either. No one should. Only the person themselves should determine that.
What's "aboriton"?
@@Flamsterette Ask the youtube forced censorship algorithm.
Is this a man or woman??
Biological male, "transitioned" sometime after the show.
