Design is so critical - the good news about buying planes in use for decades is that these machines have a real safety history - safety over decades is a good indicator - in my opinion - assuming of course proper maintenance etc. Small request: in videos please indicate how far these things go and what they can carry / fuel use etc. Thanks
As I see it , I have flown high , mid, low and even canard aircraft . The 2 problems planes have are pilots and engines . I have a few thousand hours and have never bent metal . There have been some planes that did not fly for one reason or another , my ass in far more important than a grave stone .
MAJOR mistake. The PA-28 line is the CHEROKEE line. Originally they were all Cherokees. Then, when they introduced the tapered wing, the 150/160 hp ones became Warriors and the 180 hp versions were called Archers. The retractable gear ones are Arrows. The Dakota was the taper wing version of the 235 hp Cherokee. It was to compete with the Cessna 182. Prior to the switch to the tapered wing, the Dakota was the Charger, then the Pathfinder.
I can't believe that this guy is recommending the two seat Grumman otherwise known as the Yankee. I had one of these. It was considered a fun airplane.... yes it was..... fun to walk away from at the end of a flight..... Not enough power. But that was balanced by the fact that it didn't have enough wing area. Otherwise a great airplane. NOT..!!! I put it up for sale with a dealer, I wanted out. He put two prospective guys into it, probably full fuel but at least 5000' runway. A few hundred feet up and the engine gave up. I don't know why but they tried to come around. They were lucky and walked away and the insurance paid. End of what I considered a failure of Jim Bede.
Ahh, all the keyboard critics who would have done a better video or whine about antiques, but I prefer a well maintained 60 year old airplane with a proven track record that doesn’t need a parachute to make up for lack of spin recovery characteristics. Comanche driver here.
@@CorsairEngines Nonsense. Everything has changed. Carbon fiber and fiber glass instead of metal and rivets. I'm almost have my ppl. I definitely want my own bird. Great video!
Get yourself a Cessna 172...or if you want new, by an SLSA. At least they are more modern.
@@speedomars yup y

Excellent stuff bro

@@gabinojimenez4766 on a plus note I know what I want on a minus note God do I sound "bossy" enjoying your response....lol
It's interesting that you left out the most produced(over 40,000) airplane in history the Cessna 172.
Haha Holy 💩!!!
I used fly the C152 VH-RWF (3:46) as both student and flying instructor 20 yrs ago!
I had a similar reaction when I saw a plane I used to fly n11yd but as it’s original n4md at 14:00
The Dakota is more comparable with a Skylane than a Skyhawk with its C/S prop and larger engine.
You skipped some really great 👍 airplanes. One of my favorites ❤was the Piper Tripacer...so what about this one HUMMMMM
Would a Boeing 727 or md80 sell cheaper than new 737 or air bus
The Bonanza, was always called the Dr killer in A+P circles. I’d love to have a turbo/pressurized Cessna twin.
Yeah in in insurance provider circles doctors are called Bonanza killers. !!!!
When you buy old cars or motorcycles cheap becomes expensive.
Isn't it the same with buying an old aircraft?
Thanks

I wonder why no one ever talks about how many stock v tails crashed as opposed to the Modified v tails?
How many?

Love your videos ❤️❤️❤️
Can you imagine flying along and your tail comes off?
So what has happened with the Piper 140 and the 235??????
A Grumman AA5B Tiger will run well over $100k. $130k+ is more likely.
Things have drastically changed since this video was made
A wiser man said walk or thumb a ride these days!!!!!!!!!!

The prices are way out-of-date.
Multiply prices by 3-5x for modern prices lmao
