Erik here! Thanks for joining us on this rewatch of Batman v Superman! I've been wanting to revisit this movie since it came out in 2016, and watching Zack Snyder's Ultimate Edition was so rewarding with interesting, hard-to-find details. My favorite new thing was the World Engine sound effects mixed into Bruce's dreams... what was your favorite new detail from this breakdown?
The Martha scene actually makes sense from a certain point of view, Bruce realises that he and Clarke aren’t so different, both human with mothers, and Bruce can finally save “Martha”, giving him closure for his mother’s death
It sounds sooooo good on paper, I just wished the execution was better. Or if there was time to breathe after it. It could have worked. But instead became...well, sadly meme’d to death.
The final heartbeat at the end of the movie is a nod to the ending of Frank Millers Dark Knight Returns when at the end of Batman's funeral Superman can hear Bruce's heartbeat start again
I've always looked at Lex's hyperactivity as a public facade, subterfuge to hide from the outside world who he really is. After he is captured, the mid-credit scene of him on his yacht with Deathstroke is who he truly is. No need for a facade any longer, we have a colder, calculating, subdued Luthor.
I really love Afflecks portrayal of a Batman who has broken after all his years of crime fighting and the losses that came with it, turning down a darker path
I really liked Batfleck! But I also really dug Jesse's Lex Luthor. I know he's not like the comics or other versions of Lex but that's exactly what made me like him. He was really refreshing :) Really trying to do something new and original.
I actually really like this movie. The Ultimate Edition is obviously the superior cut of the film, but I like the theatrical cut too. And each time I watch it, I like it a bit more and something always draws me back to the film.
Unpopular opinion: I would say that the Ultimate Edition isn’t better, maybe even worse than the original. Let me explain: All it adds is the further development of plot lines that go absolutely nowhere by the end of the movie, the Africa-CIA thing, the Lois investigation, and the fact that Clark was trying to investigate the Batman by going to Gotham. The last two piss me off since it shows that Lois and Clark did more detective work, than “the world’s greatest detective”. You could say the Lois storyline helped incriminate Luthor, but that becomes irrelevant when the police find him bathing in tomato sauce, at the site where the monster emerged.

It ruined Lex. It ruined doomsday. It ruined the name “Batman vs Superman” it was still nonsensical. But when compared to the original it looks a lot better Snyder cut on the other hand is up there with the best comic movies of all time easily
The pearl falling into the hole with the young boy Bruce is the first clue that what we are seeing is a dream sequence and not what actually happened - the beautiful lie; it is stuff like this that makes me really enjoy Snyder's work and makes it always worth viewing at least a second time.

8:10 "Who watches the watchmen" is also a line said by Lex Luthor in Young Justice: Outsiders, released in 2019, about how the U.N. has satellites to monitor The Justice League's "Watchtower".
Also I always thought that the pearl dropping was the first implication that the moment in the cave was a dream. I don’t think he kept the pearls. Hence he starts to fly and then says “in the dream...”
You missed one, when Batman is making his smoke grenades he labels them Pb which is Lead on the periodic table and that is the element Superman cannot see through in the comics
What I took away from the "Martha" scene is that the entire movie it shows bruce struggling with who he is (at 65+) and that was always fueled by his parents death, then Thomas Wayne's last words were "Martha" which bruce heard. THEN! Superman first said "you're letting him kill Martha" BOOM, Bruce thinks its him killing the memory of everything he devoted himself to. I thought this was a great story cause moms are pretty great.
When I first saw this movie I thought Eisenberg was being set up to be the Joker, something about the way he moved and talked idk it just gave me big Joker set up vibes reminding me of Ledgers Joker. I think he would’ve made nice Joker. I also wasn’t listening well when someone called him “Lex” and didn’t realize he was playing Lex Luthor once he was bald😅
@@kalesukangwa3746 the fact that you say you've never seen anything like it just tells how unique this movie is. So many people are still talking and making video's about it
Real pearl necklaces have little knots in between each pearl so they don't rub up and scratch one another therefor the pearls would not fly all over unless fake pearls were used and if that's the case the Wayne's are a lot cheaper than they appear
I never ever noticed until watching this video, the ruins of Wayne Manor behind Batman in the Knightmare sequence. That’s a cool detail they put in there, I always thought Bruce and his team would’ve stayed within the confines of the Batcave.
The heart beat at the very end was another call back to the dark Knight Returns. When Superman is at Bruce's funeral he hears it. Oh and kgbeasts clock was also a nod to Batman's timer in the dark Knight Returns . It even looked the same. You guy got some I missed but you missed those 2
The thing about martha scene is quite lovely and emotional. You see bruce is an orphan who lost his mother and father. He for 18 months thought that Superman is a threat to this world. But when the time came to kill him. He heard the name Martha and that made him realise that this Alien also has a mother who is going to die. That's what snaps bruce out of his rage. He realises that he cannot let another boys mother die. So he went and helped Superman. I don’t understand why people make fun of this scene. It’s about mother. Who Won't try to save his mother the person who hugged us when we were sad, scared, lost all hope, cry. It is mother. Zack is a genius who filled this scene with soo much love. Bruce just realised how much of a human Superman is❤️❤️❤️
Awesome work. surprised there was no mention of the card when the fight club scene fight ends and Bruce hands the bartender a Joker card (hence why the bartender gives him a concerned look before walking away), my theory is that is how Bruce got into this underground fight club but there are quite a few nods to the joker via card in the movie. It's a fast glimpse so be quick. :)
The Martha moment was confusing, but if you watch the CinemaWins video on BvS, it really dives deep into what it means and how it’s perfectly set up throughout the movie
It's not really that confusing. The real issue is general audience's short attention span and the need to have everything explained to them. There's no room for subtext anymore.
I like how in the ultimate version, Batman’s brutalism is reduced when it comes to possible deaths of criminals except for the scene when he flings a box at a criminal

Maybe my favorite movie of all time next to Schindler’s list and A few good men. This video kinda misses in understanding a few key points but overall an entertaining way of remembering BvS.
I could understand any criticism for this film, besides the Martha scene. I thought that it was brilliant. It's more than just sharing their mothers name, Bruce at that moment when he was about to kill Superman saw himself as Joe Chill wielding a weapon aimed to kill, he saw the killer that he became which was key to his redemption arc. A redemption arc that we never got because of Joss Whedon.

When doomsday killed Superman, in theaters, I thought it was because Clark was weakened due to being close to the kryptonite spear. Only now did I learn it was because doomsday was made from krypton particles and that’s why it was able to pierced Clark’s chest
Maybe my favorite movie of all time next to Schindler’s list and A few good men. This video kinda misses in understanding a few key points but overall an entertaining way of remembering BvS.
Jesse Eisenberg's performance in BVS is proof that he wouldve made a great Riddler
This. Thank you.
