You guys really got a fantastic show on your hands ! All the little complains I had for the first episode were addressed : it flows well, it's fun, it's informative. YET, last time, I completely forgot to congratulate you for the extra mile you're going to seek out the actual professionals and get these testimonies or mini interviews. It's really top notch
Yeah it's like Corridor crew SFX guys react but prop guys. Don't think there's anything else like it. Corner the market before someone else does! I genuinely think this is an amazing idea.
This is sooo freakin' cool man. It's so interesting to see how all these props are designed/being used and it's crazy how much of this I never would have noticed or thought about. Please keep this series up, it's awesome.
I’ve been able to meet two LotR hobbit actors at conventions, and I asked both what the prop lembas tasted like (and, jokingly, if they could get me the recipe). Dominic Monaghan said they were lovely and tasted like cheese, Sean Astin said they were awful and I was welcome to keep as many as I wanted to make! 😂
As someone who’s been watching corridor crew’s reaction and breakdown videos since day 1, I gotta say this is a fantastic addition to the React-o-verse.
I was in a play where two characters had to eat a plateful of boiled potatoes; each night we quartered and boiled one potato, and each actor had two quarters of that one potato -- the rest of the "potatoes" were Styrofoam.
In video games, a lot of times you end up creating objects but only texturing the sides that the player sees. Other than facades (which I don't know if that would ever fall on a prop guy), do you guys ever make props that are only meant to be seen from one angle?
probably not, it wasn't depicted as food, it was just coloured gloop stuff most likely the food you see initially was just real food - the cast and crew could have eaten it after the take
I'm so glad this came out so soon after the last one. I was worried we'd have to wait a long time. And once again, the descriptions you guys use gives this blind guy all the info I need to really picture it all. Keep 'em coming!
In the past couple of years I have started watching for continuity issues, especially in eating scenes. I caught one in an episode of Downton Abbey when Shirley MacLaine was featured. They were meant to be eating offal and so it was small nibbles on the plates. As the camera panned around the conversation going on in the foreground, they caught Shirley in the background putting a fork just insideher mouth, close her lips around it briefly, then put the fork, with the food still on it, back in the same position where she started. Like.....she did the reset for her own plate. I'm always interested in the prop stories. Burning candles is another one that gets tricky, along with any smoking materials. Thanks guys! Very educational, interesting, and fun! 😊
@@wastedtalent666 exactly 👍🏼 referring to the performers who play the background characters and are the blurry blobs that add to the atmosphere of the scene
These are so fun, thanks for the insight! Reminds me of when my buddy made his Ultra-Gross Vampire costume. He made pustules on his arms with used dryer sheets, liquid latex, , makeup, and vanilla pudding. If you layer the latex on your arm and bunch up the dryer sheet you can make a little pouch that you cut into after it dries. You can then fill it with stuff like pudding which REALLY grosses people out when you eat it XD
My favorite food prop story is from one of the last episodes of "The Good Place". You see in the first episode of the entire series, they needed someone to use in a framed photo so they got someone who was a writer, not an actor. In later episodes, he was played by an older actor but they decided to do one last scene with the original guy. But he wasn't an actor so no one told him about the spit bucket thing. He had to basically gorge himself on fried chicken take after take until he got sick. They tell it better on the podcast. 😂
I think my favorite part about this is that they're all clearly movie nerds and they riff off each other. I lost it at "Regulators!!" Just three chill dudes who love what they do. Please make a series out of this!
I wanna see more long form react vids!! Im starting out in production design work and all these prop tips and tricks are super useful for my art dept knowledge!!
The two main food scenes that spring to my mind are the imaginary food scene from Robin WIlliam's HOOK film, and the Thanksgiving meal from with Charles Grodin in Beethoven
Wow, crazy to think about all the things that I'm never gonna be able to look at again without scrutiny. Thanks for the super in depth look at these scenes!
If I was 15 when I first discovered this channel, I guarantee my life would have taken a very different direction. Great work, guys. Thank you for lifting the skirt of movie Magic’s dress. Fascinating stuff!!!
Scott, I'm really loving these. Really interesting and funny! Thanks for providing insight into the creativity and problems making this food. Props to you, fellas.
This is the kind of thing that makes UA-cam so special. Occasionally a DVD special features has something similar to this format but it only covers that movie. Corridor digital covers special effects, CGI and stunt work and now we have you guys giving us a peak behind the curtain.
I would love to see more videos like this and the last one. Love the shorts but the last two really give a behind the scenes look at a lot of what goes into these movies pertaining to the props. It seems to me that without you guys these movies wouldn’t go over to well. You guys are amazing. Thanks for sharing, this is great stuff.
I would like to see you guys do one on how the lines blur as to who does what and how cooperation goes to put it all together. You have touched on this in shorts IE one of your shorts addressed a towel on a rack; set dressing, they pull it off and dry their face; prop, step out of the shower and wrap their body; wardrobe. Easy example of big stuff, any Batmobile is going to have; props, practical special effects, stunts, post edit CGI and Foley... and... (Doctor Evil voice) "Throw me a bone Scott" Oh, I just realized Scott is Dr. Evil's son... Was that pun intended? You'll never know!
In all my years of being a stagehand / prop guy on tv shows and movies...i must say i really wished i worked with a prop master like you ...i have been enjoying your youtube videos...and im behind the scenes as well...and i never look at stuff like this bc I'm pretty much educated on how we do things...im doing this now for over 25 years....keep up the good work...i really love your jokes also... on the set you must be the guy that lifts every bodys spirits up ... just by your personality... I handle props everyday for NBC in their warehouse...and i like your props in your shop that you own
Such a great video i enjoyed it very much. this could become my favorite series on YT. I like the tips and stories, more of them please, more gosip and tricks.
Loving this series! It's a great learning tool for me, but also reassuring to hear you guys go through the same struggles as me haha. I can't stand food scenes! Drinks are also a bother, having to match drink levels and get "cold" drinks without ice upsetting the sound team.
These are so much fun! It makes me notice things I NEVER would've noticed before. It also shows me how much really goes into just a few moments of film!
Love these. I hope when productions start ramping back up you can find time to make more. Definitely add more pun supercuts at the end. Come for the cool stories - stay for the puns
I love food scenes when actors don't have any kind of allergies or diet! I worked with one that eat only veggie in real life, it was so painful ... Thank you for this video that makes me enjoy even more my job during these hard time of strikes when i'm not working ....
Watch how actor James Gandolfini handled food in The Sopranos. In order to not mess with continuity, he continually spears pasta on his plate, never actually taking a bite. It’s like he is trying to mix it up with whatever sauce is on it.
Great episode! I hope you do one for Christmas/Holiday themed... the Elf scene. I also always wondered what they did for Hook(Robin williams) the big lost boys banquet scene 😄
When i was a kid i cut up my sister's razor scooter to make a prop lightsaber. It was pretty well-done, with wiper blades as the grip, just like in the movies.
This is such an awesome idea! Cannot wait for more episodes. Funny to use bra enhancers for raw chicken because that's what I've always called them. When I was in college, a friend of mine got into drag shows, and being theater kids, we got creative with his costume 😂 we used to say, "Grab the chicken cutlets. We gotta stuff his bra!" Chicken nuggets was a term for them, as well.
Damn scott, i just clicked to watch a little bit of the video and i wahtched the whole thing. I'd say, tiktoks are great, but this format is awesome too.
I've been interested in props and behind-the-scenes for as long as I can remember - this is all so informative. I love how all the small things link to one another on-set, like providing more material for the story and for the background all at once. Regarding things people don't want to eat - one of my favourite film stories is about Michael Caine and Sean Connery around their filming The Man Who Would Be King. Connery was told he would be meeting a local sheikh and would have to eat all the food in front of him during their meal. Connery made it through *sheep's eyeballs* before Caine revealed himself to be the shiekh all along. That's the kind of prank that'll leave a bad taste in your mouth!

I got a corridor crew vibe too, but with more puns! Fantastic

The food scene in Hook must have been a nightmare.
probably not, it wasn't depicted as food, it was just coloured gloop stuff
most likely the food you see initially was just real food - the cast and crew could have eaten it after the take
the continuity also sounds like a nightmare. @Scottpropan droll we'd love to see a thoughts segment on how many takes went into that production
I'm so glad this came out so soon after the last one. I was worried we'd have to wait a long time. And once again, the descriptions you guys use gives this blind guy all the info I need to really picture it all. Keep 'em coming!

Yes they do a great job so you can imagine it in your mind.
Love the behind-the-scenes intel and banter. Mark's Walken impression was quite good and a nice bookend. Keep 'em coming!
needs more cowbell :)

As a BG actor, I’d love to see an episode devoted to y’all talking smack about us. Stories from interacting with the BG and wrangling BG props.
What is BG? Background?

I guess you're FULL of TASTY compliments

This was great! Its crazy how much work goes into making a food scene look "natural".
I've heard those enhancing inserts called "chicken cutlets" before, but hearing them take the place of chicken in a scene is still impressive.
You can't do enough of these! I hope you NEVER run out of stories!
Thank you for continually putting out entertaining, informative content
Great video. I love learning behind the scenes things like this. I really appreciate your content, especially the dad jokes/puns. Thank you very much.

I’m loving these longer form videos!!
When it comes to matching food bites, how do y'all do that? Im picturing a prop guy hurriedly taking bites of a corncob 😂
I can't get enough of this stuff. I'm fascinated with this aspect of the film industry. How things actually get done behind the scenes.
This is a great series, and that Walken impression was one of the best I’ve ever heard
