    So grateful to have found this video. I haven't made apple jelly in years and don't remember it tasting so sweet like my first batch this year. Your tips regarding the use of low sugar SureJell have helped me tremendously!
    I also had been struggling with getting the peelings to cook down, the canner to the boiling point & juice to hard boil, it was taking well over an hour! Watching and hearing you describe how things work, I was fired up. After a sort of "arrow prayer" asking the Lord to get the juice to boil, I realized our grill has a burner. Using that burner, I made two batches of eight cups each, in less than 45 minutes! Not sure why my gas range didn't do the same.
    But, Oh Happy Day! Bring on the apples, this time I'll remember to pray first!

    Just a thought, but what about putting that cooked apple peels in a blender and grind it up?

    I started preparing my first round of apple harvest this year and although 7 five gallon buckets are full I continue to use cores and peeling for my jellies. I could tell right off the bat that you folks have been trained by old school professionals likely over a life time.

      Oh that sounds wonderful. We have some apple trees but they are young still. Yes, we've both been around this throughout our life. Thanks for watching...God bless

      It might be a good idea to stock up on canning supplies if possible. Shortages of many things again this year. Today 2 major food markets had no lemon juice period. I can understand lids and maybe jars but lemon juice, what's come of us.

    I will be doing this with my peels!! :) I need a couple things and then I can start. I just watched the apple butter video again lol. I wasn't sure how I was going to manage without a peeler thingy. I was prepared to peel and core by hand. Went to the goodwill and the Lord Blessed! Found an "Apple Machine" and a corer/wedger for 6 bucks! I need the cardamom and then I'm ready! I will probably do a video and I will def give you ALL the credit! Thanks!! So, just to be sure....this recipe only calls for the sugar, lemon juice, 1/2 tsp butter and sure gel right? no spices....just making sure.

      Isn't God awesome the way He even cares about the little things. Yes it is just that simple. Just apple peels, water, lemon juice, sugar, butter and low sugar sure jel.

    Can you do the same thing with Apple cider? I know I'm not going to do the same thing you just did (too lazy, I guess) but I love that color and the fact that it's not translucent.

      I have never tried it with apple cider, but I know you can make it with store bought natural apple juice.

    I'm brand new to canning and making apple jelly.Can I put apples in my juicer and use the juice to make my jelly?
    Can I use this same recipe when using whole apple in the cooking instead of peeling only?

    • @artofcreationhomestead
      @artofcreationhomestead  2 роки тому

      Yes to both as long as you use the same amount of juice that I did in the video.

    Is there a way to make it with less sugar?

    • @artofcreationhomestead
      @artofcreationhomestead  2 роки тому

      Not really.....we used lower sugar pectin. Its really difficult to make jelly with less sugar than we use.

    what if i dont have that canning pot

    • @artofcreationhomestead
      @artofcreationhomestead  2 роки тому

      You can just use a large pot that the water can cover the jars by an inch. Just be sure and put a kitchen towel in the bottom of the pot so the jars don't jiggle around and break.
