I have seen a lot of videos for making homemade jelly, and I believe yours is the best I have seen yet! You are clear, concise, friendly, and give me all the information that I need. This will be my first year making grape jelly. Mostly, I make jams. Thank you so much.

We grow champagne grapes (from my late father-in-law’s garden). They are delicious. And I am hoping to make grape jelly out of them. I hope it works out.

Add about a tablespoon of butter to your jelly after you add your pectin and you’ll have very little or no foam

@@harmonyhomestead5 butter can go rancid if canned for a long period but any neutral oil will act as a defoaming agent- just a smidge will do it!

You shouldn’t tighten those bands like that; eventually you’re going to have lids that buckle. And adding a 1/2 teaspoon of butter per 4 cups of juice will keep the foam away.

We used your method this morning an made muskedine grape jelly. 19 cups of fluid 15 cups of sugar. We just took the first batch out of th water bath. I hope it sets up. It is super good. Thank you for your how to video. I’ve made lots of jelly in my life but a few batches of wild blackberry did not set so I cooked it down. But this was very helpful. Thanks again from East Texas! ❤

Just to let you know that water on your lids is not an issue. Also you tighten the lids so tight. You only need to close it finger tight. The air in the jars has to be able to escape to create a suction.
