Sersi was such a flat character it really suspended disbelief all around. In the final act everyone is fighting their ass off and showing tons of emotions, and Sersi is supposed to run to save the world and she's like: .-. the entire time.
TBH 90% of her in the movie is just *staring left/right dramatically, looking confused* THATS ALL SHE DOES. I dont even kmow what power she possess she never does anything!!!
Implying that Angelina Jolie and the female Flash character are doing something more. Both of them are constantly smiling and Jolie has basically been instructed to simply look wise and not really do anything at all. Really every single character looks bored as hell, including the human boyfriend of Sersi who appears like twice in the movie.
I said the same thing about their free will and about Thanos... wouldn’t the celestials tell the eternals to stop Thanos since him wiping out half the population would ruin all their plans? You brought up a lot of other great points too lol
They wouldn't have known. They would only have known after Thanos did the deed . Also, Thanos was aware of the celestials. why do you think he ran off and hid on that planet? You think he was running from the Avengers? Why do you think Thanos did what he did about the population?? Who do you think is brother? An Eternal!!! Thanks was fighting for everyone against the celestials. I have news for you. Galactus is a celestial in the MCU. He is coming once Jugement is found.
[sarcasm ] YEAH, BUT...but. "InQuickWE..." the TVA according to the MCU and most marvel critics and DISNEY, is the strongest organization, NOT THE CELESTIALS. rEemmber....REMEMBER what WHAT WE were TOLD inthe Loki Streaming show about the TVA!!! Everything was scheduled, controlled and allowed and directed.....! So the Celestials and the Eternals DO NOT HAVE FREE WILL. If you don't know what I am talking about go check out the series THAT FEIGE, DISNEY and the MCU SAID....said....was the way things are....in the Loki Series,...it is the boring "DMVesques" clerks that RUN THE UNIVERSE and it is ALL sheduled. I AM NOT KIDDING. I don't DON'T understand why most people here and even these kind of channels think Feige and MCU Disney is 'HOTCRAP". They are not. TVA, TVA, TVA....its IN the MCU..multiverse of Madness.
@@lukeyznaga7627 you are not thinking well. The events of loki ensured there is free will. The multiverse is possible because of loki. Before is was just one timeline. Don't you understand now everything is free will. Always was due to the nature of time.
The Avengers wouldn't be at the volcano though. There's no one there in danger for the avengers to avenge. Infinity War/Endgame both were about stopping Thanos specifically how would they know about a celestial coming forth. What would they do exactly? How would they know? I think they'd be focusing on the population in danger
This took place after Endgame. So, there are no Avengers right now and everybody has split up! Busy on their own fight....Wanda Vision , Falcon & Winter Soldier, Spiderman going finally at home, Thor Gone with Guardians, Nick Fury meets Mysterio I guess at this point of time .... So, they might just turn on the news and watch it there till the further movies
@@gabnel1000 Deviant gene syndrome Means the same thing. The whole issue however could have been avoided by some creative writing, For example this movie is based on an event that occurred on Earth X, Half the plot holes could have been avoided by putting up a big What If at the start of the movie and having the watcher say, On earth X Thanos never invaded the snap never occurred. Alternatively the Eternals were off earth, the snap is what caused them to return from outer space, instead of Bollywood. Even then the movie needed to use less characters and introduce a least some in earlier movies, Sersi was in the avengers at one point, and had a relationship with the black knight, either of these would have been good ways to introduce Sirsi prior to the movie as for Makkari "He battled Maelstrom alongside the Avengers. Makkari elected to remain while the majority of Eternals departed Earth". Another great way to introduce a character and maybe explain why they were not on earth when Thanos appeared. Ikaris "encountered Thor for the first time.[13] He next participated in a battle between the Eternals and the Olympian gods defeating Ares" Wow another great movie that could have been used to introduce a third eternal before this movie etc. Also with regard to introducing mutants and the x-men as a future movie "At some point during the early centuries, Ikaris and the Eternals came into conflict with the immortal mutant, Apocalypse. This conflict ended when Ikaris and the Eternals defeated him. Ikaris believed Apocalypse was dead" Occurs in the ancient past, fights a well known villian leads into more stories about mutants Ie. x-men etc does not disrupt current continuity in the MCU. So much potential. Instead they jump to the virtual end were the dreaming celestial is being born, and instead of an earth destroying battle Sirsi effortlessly defeats a celestial, A godlike elder being of the universe. Anybody who has any knowledge of the Eternals at all sees how lazy the writing of this movie is, not to mention the complete lack of continuity with the rest of the MCU. all so easily fixed with only a little effort and 5 minutes research on Wikipedia. I love the MCU, Shang-chi was a great adaption, 1 character, 1 villain, 1 story. Eternals failed on so many levels.
@@michaelmcgaughey5113 The Eternals failing is a matter of perspective, MCU movies always have many plots holes for timelines, i hope people are this critical of every other MCU movies cause it seems this movie in particular is not getting the pass most MCU movies get the pass for cause its not action packed and doesn't tightly follow the marvel formula lines - either way who you feel about this movie is valid. With the introduction of new characters and teams, the "where were you when Thanos attacked" would be an issue for all of them. Do i which this entire movie was done differently and more in line with the comics yeah but this is what we got and overall, imo its better than a lot of MCU films. The MCU changes a lot, characters are severely nerfed while others and empowered and a lot of changes than doesn't make sense are made.

@@tinalovre but what about the comic before the mcu, cause the comics try to follow the movies to catch the same audience, i mean what was the concept for the character and i think he is supposed to be a god, i know Odin is part of a special group with ?4 other earth gods zeus being one of them i think
So you're comparing the third movie in a new phase to a massive 23 film culmination event known as endgame.... Yeah sure buddy. No one liked the MCU as much when "Thor" opened up.
@@seancoetzee5399 And the new phase is coming off the success of the old one. There is a legitimate basis in judging the new films based on the older ones.
Imo, the MCU should just focus on Avengers. They're getting lost. I wanna see Thor, Hulk, Spiderman, even Falcon. I'm not gonna care about Phastos or Sprite. I think they got cocky after GotG was a hit and thought they could introduce more unknown heroes.
I think that the concept of the Eternals good have been great. Grand scale plot with celestials spanning thousands or billions of years. What they should have done was make this a series instead of a movie. Then they could taken their time to explore all the nuances. Have the audience learn all the characters over time and get to know them better. But instead they crammed about 12 hours worth of plot into 2 hours of boring exposition.
First time I’ve watched your channel and your charm, humour and style immediately has me subscribed. Keep doing the lord’s work, it’s so great to come across a YT film reviewer who doesn’t think they’re Roland Barthes
The major problem with this movie is that the Celestials are the only genuinely interesting part of it. A movie about their misbehaving servants isn't very interesting.
A movie about their misbehaving servants is necessary to introduce them and explain why they’re now all of the sudden relevant and opens the path to more interactions with the celestials
Man, I did not enjoy this movie at all. Nice visuals and some likable characters aside, I was rolling my eyes and dealing with frustration and boredom the whole time
Literally nothing happens for the entire thing.. they talk back story and occasionally beat down a few generic cat things, and immediately defeat the foe without build up or struggle.
Don Lee deserves better. That dude should be a well-known lead action star but Hollywood probably won’t know how to utilize him. He was awesome in Train to Busan and other cool Korean movies. Regarding Shang-Chi only being entertaining fluff, aren’t all Marvel movies fluff? That seems to be a primary reason why they’re so popular.
Don Lee's Gilgamesh is the strongest Eternal, who can defeat Deviants simply by slapping them in the face and yet... he dies from fighting a single Deviant. His punches do nothing against it. He should be the LEAST likely to die in combat!! The director and writers of this movie forced his death when it realistically (by their fictional rules) wouldn't have happened.
@@pnut3844able Based on what I’ve seen, I don’t think any of the Marvel movies are close to being masterpieces. They’re generally forgettable, sometimes mildly entertaining blockbusters, but to clarify, it seemed like Adam was describing Shang-Chi as a fun but light movie. I thought that seemed like a description that could apply to the MCU in general. Actually, that’s an intended part of their appeal (which doesn’t automatically mean they’re bad). They’re popcorn entertainment meant to appeal to mass audiences, from adult film lovers to kids.
@@matthewk4912 It did seem forced. I guess their explanation would be that he was going up against the leader deviant, but there was wasted potential with Gilgamesh.
Makkari and Druig's chemistry was the best part of the movie. I enjoyed all their shared screen time (well, when it's when they interact at least). The fact Ikaris had no expressions or emotions toward Ajak's death gave it away immediately. He had serial killer eyes.
That's Rob Stark loving Cersei. Not Jon Snow. Edit: Oh shit, I was wrong, there's Kit Harrington in this movie too? Never even noticed him in trailers, lol. Looks like I know nothing.
There's a dialogue where Ikarus tells Sersi that he loves her. I wish she replied, "But I love your half-brother" which is totally something Deadpool would do
Clearly the writer didn't read the source material. The Thanos thing.... aggghhh! Nor were their powers so segregated. Sprite once turned a hut into an advanced spacecraft. The each had the various powers to some lesser or greater degree. Not all or nothing. As you note - that would make No sense. Worthless warriors.
He had a deviant gene which explains his physical mutation in not looking at all like his brother Eros or his parents who we see in the comics. He’s more eternal than defiant and looks nothing like the deviants. The celestial and probably arishem himself likely have no idea he’s a deviant or would consider him one. He’s nothing at all like the deviants that are on earth
Yeah, don't worry. There's not a whole lot of Eternals fans. The comics don't have a great track record. Convoluted and nonsensical is not unusual for things involving the Eternals. Maybe head over to Comics Explained?
Them being liked in the comics isn’t that important. Most of the avengers wouldn’t have been considered A list or even B list heroes and characters in the comics. Marvel isn’t choosing heroes solely for their popularity in the comics they’re choosing them for how it can drive the story. The future of the MCU is leading to the celestials so a perfect introduction to them would be introducing the eternals
I read a random comment about this film while doing research on it and went down a rabbit hole of nonsense. The comment mentioned some bad guy but sometimes good guy called Galactus... Googles Galactus Marvel and read through the top search which was ;Galen (Earth 616) on Marvel Database. After reading through Galactus and the eternals/deviants... how Thanos is the son of two eternals with a deviant gene bla bla bla (Greta Thunberg)... I realised this could never be adapted and is just too comic-book, universe-shattering, crazy, impossible to film etc ... then I laughed at them even attempting it.
Well I was reading that eternals was meant to have they’re own story and own franchise, takes place in the same mcu universe, but it’s gonna be a standalone franchise, and also captain marvel says that she’s busy in other parts of the universe
*SPOILER!* Ikaris flying himself into the sun was by far the funniest, most over dramatic scene in that whole movie. Which I'm sure everyone and their mother is going to make a Meme out of. Also, what the fuck was the point of giving sentience to the deviant wolf monster if you were just gonna kill him off in the most bland way possible? I felt like there could've been so much more potential if you'd just kept him around for another movie or something. Just a waste of an interesting idea. I also like how Sprite was forgiven for her *literal* backstabbing and given a mortal life so she can finally grow up. Then, she decides to go to school because. . . reasons? I mean, it's not like she's a 7000 year old being who should already know everything about the planet? I mean, what has she been doing for entertainment or cash up to this point? Wow, the more I think about this movie, the more annoyed I get. I'm just gonna put this movie in the 'meh' category too and move on.
I couldn’t believe he flew into the sun lol. I started laughing at that part, which was probably not the reaction they wanted lol. Sprite randomly turning human was weird - I thought they were maybe just gonna age her up or something somehow.
I went into this movie thinking "this movie will be fine, heard its not that great but that's fine, i hardly ever agree with critics." God was it boring. I just couldn't care for more than half of them, i really only liked 4 1/2 (yes, i couldn't tell if i actually liked them, or if i was working with what they got) out of 10 of their "main characters?" I can't tell you most of their names. Also the forced liking of laser eyeballs man astonished me. Every character in the movie loved him and he was the most basic ass man ever constructed. Don't worry, he was paired with the most lack luster lead ive ever seen. Really hard to believe you have 7,000 years of experience when in the heat of battle, you just stare off into the abyss for 7 minutes every. Damn. Time. Honestly with such an imaginative and creative power, you'd assume that the character would have any personality at all other than nostalgia for a relationship that lacked chemistry or drive, and was wholeheartedly unnecessary. That being said I appreciated the diversity on screen, unfortunately that doesn't count for anything if you don't give them any personality or growth, or simply enough screen time. The girl who stole stuff and was basically their version of the flash couldve easily been the main character, she had more personality, held herself better in a fight, and got shit done quickly. So it wasn't completely awful, just frustrating and boring. Unnecessary lackluster build up for an anticlimactic end.
The love story between ikaris and whats her face.. A flashback Where ikaris is told to tell her he loves her He does They kiss Have sex on the beach Ergo...theyre madly in love for 5,000 years 🙄 Really!? That 2 minute montage is the basis for the love so strong that saves the day?! I cant remember a single shot conveying WHY ikaris loves her or showing that he is falling for her and why the F does the fanal deviant side with ikaris!? Not long before we find out that the deviants are only trying to kill the eternals because the eternals keep blowing up their planets when theyre just trying to survive.
Exactly I think it’s the continuation of the marvel universe so each movie doesn’t rlly stand on its own or feel like it does just a small glance of the others movie over and over again. I mean that’s fine but make sure each movie has its own agenda and feel. Plus the mcu has too many films just to see an end goal.
Honestly not really. There isn't a character in the MCU that's on earth that could kill a celestial. Maybe with the infinity stones they could, but circi is the only one that could.
@Time Code The MCU writers keep writing around that and hoping the audience doesn't think much about it. Those literal gods are always absent even when there's world-ending stakes if it's another hero's movie. There's no way none of the Avengers would do anything while Mysterio did his thing in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
This was my reaction too and you explained it better ! I really think Marvel has to level up their movies like the previous ones to get my attention. After watching Eternals i am like "Okay ...... but I dont care because nothing's explained too well" All I understood is that in this way, Earth is saved once again so the future Marvel events will continue to happen smoothly. But this movie raises a LOT of questions. About Thanos, if he was a deviant, the eternals could have interfered but where were they then ? and where the heaven was Captain Marvel all this time when all this eternals' events were happening ? This is space stuff so Captain Marvel should definitely come here, afterall we're watching Marvel as a whole not only Eternals !
2021 had been such a bad year for the Marvel Universe. I used to really love it but after everything they’ve put out this year I pretty much couldn’t care less about it anymore.
Kumail nanjiani taking finger guns to the next level, also when I found out the eternals were synths and one dies I wished I had the old windows shutdown sound on my phone, the most interesting part for me was wider connection to the MCU, the black knight tease in the post credits, also the fact they may be redoing galactus is pretty cool
Film was great. I'm looking forward to more academy award winning directors coming to direct in the MCU EDIT: This isn't sarcasm. I genuinely enjoyed the hell out of this movie.
I absolutely love your content. It's not pretentious, it's not what everyone else says. And even though it probably is "bitching" I can't get enough of your channel. You're one of the good ones
Doc: you're lucky to be alive. What can you remember? Me: I remember getting out of the movie theater in the middle of a movie, got a sprite and then saw a bus turn to flowers right in front of me. Doc: oh I see. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I hated the Deviants. The CGI created wooden dinosaurs just didn’t do anything for the movie. The story was lame. There were several scenes that seemed forced that didn’t need to be in the movie. It should obvious what I’m saying there. No need to elaborate. This is one film I won’t be getting on Blu-ray.
GAHHHH.... this was undeniably THEE WORST MOVIE OF THE CENTURY!! It was soooo BAADD on sooo-ho-ho-ho many levels!!! The mythology was freakishly misplaced and inconceivably OFF-- it just made absolutely no sense. The overt racism and absence of any black folks anywhere in history at that time is downright shameful, and the sole black character was emasculated and his so-called genius was the underlying cause of humanity's woes. The writers need their a$$e$ whipped! All of the Greek and Roman mythological characters are nothing more than recasts/a continuum of the ancient Khemetic pantheon of the Ntchru, so none the Greek or Roman would scarcely have an identity that predates the golden ages or pre-dynastic eras. The immortals represent mythemes that appear in history much, much later than that of the Sumerians, the Khemetyu (misnomered Egyptian), etc. The storyline was weak and all over the place. The Thanos reference stuck out like a sore thumb. What were they thinking?? It completely nullified their entire premise. There are no words in the English vernacular, or in any other language, to describe how horrible this movie is. The acting and the dialogue were even more b-rated. 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
It’s not confusing, it just literally makes nonsense. Something that’s confusing can still make sense if explained properly but there’s no sense to be made here
i haven’t watched it yet… First MCU film i didnt see on preview night since The Avengers. I literally just forgot to get tickets. I think i can see it monday night- lets see if these low expectation help make it any better. MAKE Tomb Raider: Cougars Claws TODAY
The Eternals needed to have free will because they're intended to blend with the human population. That's why their memories were kept inside the hub after another Celestial giant rose up and destroyed a planet. They're always molded to blend with each kind of lives in one planet at a time, one universe at a time.
@@blindjr2356 having free will allows them to find unique solutions to problems which can lead them to find more efficient ways of furthering a population. The reasons they can’t interfere is because the population needs to solve things themselves. That’s how they grow. Something interesting about human population is our biggest periods of growth happens after war or disaster. So if the eternals interfered and prevented wars and disasters they wouldn’t have gotten as big. The eternals were even surprised that they didn’t interfere with thanos and our planet was so strong we were able to bring everyone back. We couldn’t have done that if not for the eternals not interfering in every event
I'm skipping this because it just looks like a complete snoozefest. *_Ghostbusters: Afterlife_* FTW! You just saved me 2½ hours of my life, Adam. Thanks for taking one for the team. 😎🤙🏻
"You just saved me 2½ hours of my life, Adam." Well technically, you don't know if that's true. You might've actually enjoyed it for all you know. I'm not going to watch it either, but I wouldn't judge the movie as if I had actually seen it.
Where are the Avengers? Captain America- in another timeline, or really really old in this one. Iron Man- dead. Thor- off planet with the Guardians. How would they know what’s happening? They are busy trying to track down the new Gamora and messing with Adam Warlock. Valkyrie- ok, she might have taken a look. But can she get there fast enough or do anything when she got there? Capt Marvel- also in space, oblivious. Hulk- busy not being Smart Hulk anymore. Also probably dealing with his cousin. Hawkeye- training a protege. Not sure an explodey arrow would have helped here. Black Widow- super dead. Hawkeye just left her body there. That always bothered me. Dr Strange- lost in a multiverse of madness with Scarlet Witch. Shame because they are some of the few that might have mattered. Spider-Man- trying to graduate high school, bro. Shang-Chi- chilling with Wong. Training, I guess? Black Panther- post Boseman identity crisis. Seriously writing him out will suck and I think everyone on BP2 knows it. Ant-Man and Wasp- I mean, only slightly more relevant than Hawkeye showing up I guess? So anyway, they are doing stuff. And very few of them would make any difference at all anyway.
I dont care about any of the other supperheroes that didn't showed up. But why is there are no agent that got sent there to at least investigated what is going on? You got a big head showing up on the surface of the planet, why isn't any human organization on earth seems to not know about this? what about S.W.O.R.D? what r they doing? chillin in space?
I think that was the point of the eternals. Jack Kirby wanted to play with the justice league toys, couldn't, so he made his own knock-offs. It sounds like they didn't think this movie out too well. Thanks for the review.
Ive found the phase 4 movies to be lackng the basics of what made marvel SO good. Theyve all been super exposition and flashback heavy. Its like theyre trying to cram all the back story in to get on with the current film. But the key to the mcu is not needing to cram in backstory in exposition and flashbacks because its been built up through previous films
They need to do all this backstory and exposition to answer the 2 basic questions people are going to ask when new heroes are introduced. “How did they get these powers?” and “Where were they during infinity war and endgame?” If they don’t give ample backstory and exposition people will be calling their existence a plot hole or lazy writing
@@slauderek3195 yes, but....they can think out all of the answers and still deliver a movie that shows more than tells. that's where the thot comes in, not just in what the answers are, but how eloquently they're revealed. for instance, instead of telling us that they were ordered not to interfere in human history (which they do anyway), how about showing us how they detach from us over time, psychologically. their original mission of destroying the deviants could have been a ruse, and after so easily defeating the deviants they are purposely left to themselves to see if they can figure out their own purpose. as they go, their immortality gives them a longer view of us, more detached, indifferent to the point of antisocial. maybe when thanos snapped his fingers, while they were together, they witnessed quite a few of their own disappear as well. the snap broke them out of a funk, made them see themselves as a part of life, too; snatched their immortality from them and made them mortal with the rest of us, if even for a moment. and then, after many rewrites, proceed to SHOW us without two and a half hours of bloat. there were two scenes of them standing in a pose together, and tho they only lasted seconds, i hated the wasted time of those wasted scenes.
To be honest what the fuck is the point of the MCU since Endgame came out? Theres no fucking point. At least the Spiderman films have input from Sony so at least those are kind of their own thing
Hey man, revisiting this review after it just got a little bit of a shoutout in the newest film theory on eternals. (I think it was around the minute thirty mark). I really enjoyed it but I always like hearing your opinions even when they differ, keep up the good work!
The problem with today’s audience that despite their complaints & bitching that all Art now are the same (i.e. music, TV, movies, theatre, etc.) …the Truth is THEY DON’T WANT TO BE CHALLENGED. What they REALLY want is the SAME-O, SAME-O. THEY REFUSE TO GET OUT OF THEIR “COMFORT ZONE”. BUT that’s what Art does…good or bad. IT CHALLENGES YOU. It should challenge your Senses, your Perspectives, your Points Of View, your Belief System, your Idea or Notion of where you think your place is in the Universe. That’s the BEAUTY of Art , whether you agree with it or not.
A movie that set out to “ check all the boxes “ and kinda forgot to write a good story !!! (( we’ll make it up as we go )) “ .. DIVERSE and DIFFERENT .. what could go wrong ?!?!
This is why I like your reviews. You give it straight as you see it. You didn't pull a band wagon bitch move by simply saying you hated it. You thought it was meh and explained why. You also reinforced my decision to break up with marvel after end game. I tried to come back with spiderman but wound up wishing I'd passed on after the way they were screwing with one of my favorite characters. I'll do with this what I should have with spiderman and hard pass
Also, the Eternals seem pointless because in the end, they don’t seem much different from the Avengers in terms of powers and abilities. Shouldn’t these guys be super powerful, godlike/angelic beings, fighting demonlike cosmic level threats? Like… I thought this movie was supposed to be at a completely different level, something human beings (or the Avengers at least) just couldn’t handle But you have a slightly overpowered magic Quicksilver, Black Widow, Iron Man, Vision, Hulk, Wanda… only a few do seem their own league, but even then, Ajax dies unimpressively, fighting… with a shotgun? What is this? Lol The Deviants seem pretty much like the alien dogs from the battle of Wakanda in Infinity War. You can clearly see the Avengers taking them on with no problem So, I didn’t hate the movie. It’s actually not that bad, all things considered. I like how they tried something different. But in the end, the problem is that this doesn’t make any sense at all in the MCU. But Marvel doesn’t care anymore, so neither should I. It was awesome, but it all ended in Endgame. Now it’s clear the plan is not to tell a coherent story anymore, the plan is just to throw out films just to make money. It used to be fun to look at the details and wonder the meaning or purpose to some elements in the movie, because you knew there was a plan and a (mostly) coherent story. But they just don’t care anymore Oh well!
You know what's wort than Eternals... The large amount INEXCUSABLE SHEEP that would desperately sacrifice their first born to justify this movie, not even daring to mention THE GIANT FUCKING THANOS/INFINITI WAR/ENDGAME PLOTHOLE that completely voids this movie. They've got a bottomless shit pit full of excuses "they were under orders not to interfere" "it was only 50% of the population (yea but wha about Endgame?)" And when everything else fails... "You know people just have to learn how to turn off their brain and enjoy a movie (this went from a once in a blue moon fun exercise to the #1 excuse for every shitty movie made today)". At this point you can't just Yada-yada your way outta Thanos and the Avengers UNIVERSE ALTERING power and actions to imply "oh these guys are reserved for more serious stuff, like skinny wiry beasts 😆 "
I liked the movie. The speedster was my favorite character. But I can understand why people don’t like it. It’s not the usual mcu formula. I feel like this could have been better as a Disney plus series. And I didn’t like all the time jumping. But it was cool For me overall.
Here's Thena, a literal God of War we're told is the strongest, and we get a only a few scenes where we see she is actually a good fighter then immediatly is struck down with madness, we don't ecen get a few minutes to settle with the idea she's a great warrior. The she LITERALLY can't even beat her "big strong protector" when she goes nuts, and the entire movie Superman is overwhelmingly better than her o.O
seems like there's still an active minority defending the film, thus the 1/7 dislike ratio that's funny imaging defending a film with a less than 50% rating on rotten
@@cosmiccollector7586 you mean the bought and paid for fake positive reviews ? do you really think the shill bought and paid for critics would like a film better than the "average cabbage" lmao
absolutely agree, i did not like it at all. they really thought they were doing something special here but i really think this is one of the worst mcu movies. i find it even more tedious than thor 2 because it takes itself so seriously
Not that I agree, but it's interesting to point this out considering in phase 1, practically all the lead actors (minus Samuel L. Jackson or Edward Norton) kind of needed a boost in their careers and Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America did that for RDJr, Hemsworth, and Prines. So they could be dedicated to these long time phases.
ETERNALS REVIEW* ETERNALS is a "Thinking Man's" Marvel Movie. It’s NOT for everyone. I repeat… “NOT FOR EVERYONE”. IT’s NOT an all-out mindless car crash, explosions, action set pieces typical of a Marvel movie. This one has DEPTH & a MATURITY to it. You as an Audience will have to INVEST-your Brain, your Time, your Intelligence to absorb the dense material not by the Writers/Director but because of its SOURCE. IT has a LOT of exposition/backstory, jumping from present time to flashbacks in our world history (Which I bet was off-putting for a lot of viewers who are used to LINEAR story-telling). So be PATIENT and you’ll feel rewarded. If you go into it with an OPEN MIND, & just go with the flow where IT takes you. You’ll have a good time. I guarantee. BUT If you come in with a lot of expectations that this is gonna be LIKE past Marvel Avenger movies, you may leave disappointed & feel you wasted your time & money. And as far as the accusation/criticism of “too much wokeness (due to the multi-racial & hearing disabled cast) & LGBTQ character” are concerned, it’s NOT propaganda or spreading a gay agenda. They “ARE” MULTIRACIAL, there’s a “REAL” HEARING IMPAIRED (as in the comic book) actor, there’s a GAY character BECAUSE SUCH PEOPLE DO EXIST “IN THE FABRIC OF HUMAN LIFE”. So what’s wrong with a NON-GRATUITOUS REPRESENTATION of a diverse group of people that DO LIVE IN OUR SOCIETY, ON THIS PLANET?! (If you haven’t realized this, you need to get out more often and open your eyes, or have your eyes checked.) And whether you like it or not, accept it or not-there are BROWN/BLACK/ETHNIC, LGBTQ, DISABLED (or I prefer “DIFFERENTLY ABLED”) people that live, breathe, co-exist & share space with us on a DAILY BASIS! It is EPIC & GRAND in scope, has GREAT CINEMATOGRAPHY, it is INTELLIGENT, has WITTY HUMOR, it’s the most ADULT of the MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE MOVIES. If you like/love History, Cosmology, Greek/Roman Mythology, Asking & Pondering on the BIG QUESTIONS of Life like, "WHY are we here? WHO created us? WHAT is our purpose or the MEANING of Life?" Etc. If you want a movie that touches more deeply about CHARACTERS that as a Viewer, you want to care about & be invested in their Journey...THIS IS THE MOVIE FOR YOU. If NOT, …go see the James Bond movie next door. SO MY ADVICE IS: IGNORE THE CRITICS…GO SEE “ETERNALS”. P.S. Now I understand why a substantial number of critics disliked IT. It had a LOT of EXPOSITION & HISTORY (Americans are notorious for hating & being poor in History & Geography*-us foreigners KNOW THIS), trying to explain the ORIGINS of the Marvel Universe that TIES UP with the past Avengers movies (Tesseract, Infinity Stones, etc.) and getting into Phase 4 - MULTIVERSE. …Just too much for the average Mind, I guess.
I was disappointed when they started with Ajak dead. The first scene of the trailer is Ikaris and Ajak talking. Obviously him not talking about it to others shows something wrong. But it was weird that this feeling was coming from watching a trailer, but not organically developed within the movie. Why put a trailer out there that spoils the movie !!
He was so wooden and had the personality of a stale bread . Dude had the same expression throughout the whole movie , I literally lol'ed when he killed himself .
So Shang Chi has Wong and Banner investigating the nature of the 10 rings due to a signal the rings emitted. That makes sense, as part of Doctor Strange's mission is to monitor for potential threats to Earth to the point that he even has a "be good" chat with Thor and Loki. But a global earthquake, mysterious new island, and oh yeah CELESTIAL APPEARING IN THE SKY doesn't even warrant a brief WTF is going on appearance? Yeah, I get "It's not his story" argument, but there's a big difference between Hydra planning a coup or Mysterio blowing up plazas, and events that are causing the planet to quake. Even the very premise of the film is flawed. It makes sense when gathering a team like the Avengers to have disparate powers on the team to deal with unknown threats and divide the work. When all the members are artificially constructed, why distribute the powers when all of said powers are supposedly necessary to complete their known mission. If one gets incapacitated, the team now lacks that function. Shouldn't the powers at least have overlap so no one member causes a loss of that ability? I mean, from a story perspective it helps define characters by ability, but that doesn't make sense with the context of this team's origin and mission. Then there's the"ancient aliens" aspect of the plot which plain pisses me off. Thor got away with it by not addressing it directly and implying Asgardians battled and relaxed on Midgard but didn't directly interfere with human society or tech. Here, they're claiming the damn PLOW and feeling responsible for Hiroshima. BITE ME, MOVIE!
You're not an idiot, the Eternals is the biggest scam that Marvel put out there and most non marvel comic book fans can't pick up on that. The Eternals was never a popular comic, and for it to get a movie where they try to wow you with visuals and a garbage script is the biggest scam ever. A bunch of C-list actors who have no idea who their character in the movie is, trying to get some of that Marvel gravy.
Hey Adam, you pretty much confirmed the gut feeling I had about what this movie would be like. You think the director wasn't allowed to do his own cut?
The batman will be phenomenal mark my words and black Adam will be cool. Tbh I’m very excited to see dr fate rather than any of the other characters in the black Adam movie
Dude the best part about the eternals movie is your review and reaction 😜 I believe your take on it 100%. That's what I got just from the trailers, but you convinced me I don't even wanna watch on Disney Plus. Don't want to sour my brain with it or have it in the MCU just in case it improves 😕

@@misunderstood5361 Oh my god people can have their own opinions. Whether you like it or not-who cares? I personally found it to be not that good of a movie, for me the pacing was the biggest issue and how long the movie felt. I kept thinking ok now it's over, oh nope here we go again. I say watch it, give it a chance, and make up you own mind about it.
You should watch the movie. Don't listen to reviewers and have a opinion of your own, whether that's really good or bad. Personally, I loved this movie. Top 10 mcu imo
The mcu died with endgame. There seems no plan whatsoever for phase 4. My best guess is the multi verse. I’m over tights and capes. If dc was smart, now is their time. I’d rather read a book
I may check this movie out once I can get out to a movie theater/My PSW was in the hospital with Covid-Pneumonia so, couldn't get out to see a movie, including Venom LTBC. I'm a bit of a nuanced fan - I don't read the comics, I grew up on the cartoons more often/I don't even think the animated shows got into the whole thing regarding the Celestials & Eternals at all which is weird, but OK. I guess what I'm trying to say is - This review is good & funny, and thanks to a friend I was able to gleam the plot of the film, and if I were to give the film a rating, I'd give about a straight C. It's certainly not the worst MCU movie/That honor still belongs to The Dark World & them wasting Christoper Eccelston, and it certainly didn't deserve getting review-bombed just because of a gay couple in it/I think the major reason was the whole thing about Phastos being partially responsible for humans creating the bomb that dropped on Hiroshima so, that was a big whoops. But yeah, that's all I got for Eternals - It's EH, definitely not the best MCU film, but not the worst either. Can't wait for No Way Home though.
I can think of 2 valid reasons. The first is that by having different powers it allows Arishem to test out different abilities to see which ones are useful and in what ways. The other reason is with them being able to form a unimind that gave them the power to kill a celestial, if they all had the same op power their unimind would be insane. So by giving them different powers it makes them rely on each other more and limits their power
Love your review!! Lol. I agree, I don't care about the MCU anymore and I think No Way Home is gonna suck. it's just a bunch of nonsense. Great visuals but story and characters are terrible. I gave up after the Loki series was so disappointing. I'm tired of feeling like a fool, being tricked over and over to waste time & money on their crappy shows or movies.
This wasn't the Eternals, it was more Justice League 2 than the Eternals. they totally changed their origin and powers and the deviants origin, the celestials. It was a mess.
I am 50/50 on you with this movie. I agree that it makes no sense, especially in the MCU. I am also not versed on Eternals background, so not sure if the original comics had the same plot line, or did Disney try to shoehorn in the D list comic book (because they ran out of their A lists) in the MCU. The whole plot doesn't make sense. There is this all powerful celestial being that creates whole star systems, yet it can't accelerate human evolution and growth? It's main mission is so critical yet it lets, for unknown and unexplained reasons, the formed population evolve naturally, which could easily end up by the said population eradicating itself (I mean we came pretty close)??? It's a plot hole after plot hole, after plot hole. Then when you put it in the MCU it even crashes and fails even more. Why would such a all-powerful, celestial being allow Thanos, who is supposedly his creation, get in his way. I can go on for hours on how the plot sucks ass. I get that we have to have suspension of belief for these types of movies, however it still should have logic that it follows. Why is that all-powerful being creating synthetic humans with human flaws? Also why is it creating synthetic humans that have varying degrees of powers? If they are purpose built and programmed to do one task, why not create a product that would be perfect for the job????!!!! Here is a synthetic human that can shape shift, transform, shoot lasers, have super strength, super speed, can fly, go invisible, control minds, turn shit into piss, etc etc etc etc. I just can't get over how the whole idea is idiotic and breaks it's own lore and logic. They are so fucking lazy too. At least come up with a in lore logic and mechanism, that quickly explains why they are the way they are. Regarding CG. Some of the shots, especially the golden rings, looked like ScyFy TV special level of work; aka low budget. I would say the movie's lighting was better than the other DC or MCU movies. Some are so dark (to hide CG effects easier) that one can't tell wtf is going on screen. Some of the actors are just awful. The dude that controls minds. Holy hell what a terrible casting choice. That guy should only play depressed and abused teenager roles. In fact at times it felt like acting in some high end porno from Marc Dorcell studios or something. I think saying this movie was mediocre is extremely generous. This was a awful film.
D-list comic book characters. Yes. Little traction as a comic, worse failure as live action. Horrible casting. For the love of God, hire a couple of actors. Kit Harington---the reason I stopped watching GoT. I tried again every so often, but Jon Snow was still there. Angelina Jolie--well past her prime, which was not ever that good. Salma Hayek--gorgeous once upon a time, but was she ever an actress? ------- Boring, slow, nonsensical. Violates the 'show, do not tell' rule of writing. Too much exposition in a movie is fatal. 2 out of 10.
dude the movie sucked because richard madden and gemma chan had the acting abilitly of a stale bread and terrible chemistry . Madden cannot act to save his life . Plus kit harington was there in the movie for like 5 min .
This movie's plot was so bad, it made Thanos the hero of the MCU. Also, their excuse for not interfering during the previous crises was fucking stupid and horrible. And Marvel thought they could make a Phase with those guys?
I liked how revolutionary it was, it bravely featured - gay interracial couple (black and middle eastern) who raised a black son - 2 interracial relationships - asian female leader - mute girl with superpowers - the evil villain is a white male - finally a powerful Indian character who isn’t just the IT nerd Things it can do better - why he and she, genders assumed, use they please, dislike - 2 people who died were people of colour, yet the white people survived - no transsexuals - fetishisation of asian female by white men - didn’t condemn Donald trump - the God figure was a male - strongest hero was a white - black son of gay couple was made to participate in stereotypical toxic masculine activists such as playing football Overall a very good start, I believe the strong campaigning for social justice overcame minor points such as - the lack of chemistry between any of the romantic portrayals - the lack of chemistry between any of the heroes - the lack of interesting powers possessed by the heroes - no character development - confusing names - can anyone name all the heroes without googling - the illogical plot -> big red boy created universe but lost control of a bunch of blue animals, orite den
I just noticed that Eternal is just basically a copy of DC Justice league... 1)Fly, super strength, eye laser (Superman) 2)A female worrior from lost civilization (Wonder Woman) 3)A speedster (Flash) 4)An edgy character knows everything (Batman) 5)A dude with bs tech (Cyborg)
It is getting lukewarm reviews. I am surely going to skip it and maybe catch it on streaming whenever. Alot of people are giving similar feedback to Adam. Ill see it on streaming in months from now or just watch a DCEU films again.
MCU Eternals are soulless robots which would be automatically evaporated if they ever entered the TVA. Them having love for humanity makes no sense when they are nothing more than complicated Roombas. A space roomba being turned into a human by another space roomba is really really stupid too.
The only thing that confuses me about all this are the critics like did they not get there Disney Bucks for some reason I mean some of them did like the one who said it was a perfect movie and all but jeez getting a rotten from the critics as a whole is kind of mind blowing. Anyways great review I figured you'd wouldn't like this movie much. Love humor!
This movie was so freaking boring, slow and the acting was embarrassing. I was cringing in my seat watching this ridiculous crap. I certainly hated it. For a movie that is trying to get into deeper things mythology, these characters and story felt like a CW series. It looked like they wanted to expand the lore but had no budget. Guardians of the Galaxy felt bigger in scope than this boring dreck.
Lol facts
I have liked that actress in other things but ugh
@spidey do explain
Implying that Angelina Jolie and the female Flash character are doing something more. Both of them are constantly smiling and Jolie has basically been instructed to
simply look wise and not really do anything at all.
Infinity war happened in under 24 hours, and the final battle of endgame wasn't even a thing that people knew was happening.
[sarcasm ] YEAH, BUT...but. The Avengers wouldn't be at the volcano though. There's no one there in danger for the avengers to avenge. Infinity War/Endgame both were about stopping Thanos specifically how would they know about a celestial coming forth. What would they do exactly? How would they know? The Eternals when Thanos planned to ‘shred the universe down to its last atom’ 😴💤
Eternals:i mean is not a deviant treat so im just gonna stay at my home and wait this out
worst part is thanos is actually part deviant according to the comics
@@michaelmcgaughey5113 he's not part deviant, he suffers from a deviant gene syndrome - like a mutation or disease.

Thanks!

I swear they made this film and went "Oh shit I forgot Thanos" he was literally going to destroy the entire universe
Uh no. Some marvel movies are masterpieces. Tf you on about?
Don Lee's Gilgamesh is the strongest Eternal, who can defeat Deviants simply by slapping them in the face and yet... he dies from fighting a single Deviant. His punches do nothing against it. He should be the LEAST likely to die in combat!! The director and writers of this movie forced his death when it realistically (by their fictional rules) wouldn't have happened.
@@pnut3844able Agreed. From Iron Man 1 (skip Iron man 2 and 3 Dark World. Captain Marvel and GOTG 2) to Infinity war has been great.
Without makkari, druig was definitely gonna be the villain in the movie

Wait till people find out that Thanos is an Eternal with the Deviant gene. So much for why the Eternals couldn’t interfere.
*SPOILER!*
Ikaris flying himself into the sun was by far the funniest, most over dramatic scene in that whole movie.

Unnecessary lackluster build up for an anticlimactic end.

and why the F does the fanal deviant side with ikaris!? Not long before we find out that the deviants are only trying to kill the eternals because the eternals keep blowing up their planets when theyre just trying to survive.

Eternals is just Fantastic 4 and the Silver Surfer in disguise.
@@jgreen2015 yess, not a single thing is set up. It just gets thrown in your face suddenly and told just that's how it is.
Comic cross-over universe is problematic in story telling since forever.. It's quite amazing that it only starting to pose a huge problem right now.
Don’t those time lord guys in Loki make it all meaningless anyway?
I'll skip this film, i also skipped the dark world

Good choice
Shang chi

@@cringekiller348 Well Marvel films were always hit and miss, you either love them or you don't. Their all pretty subjective story wise.
Shang-Chi was awesome. The Disney+ shows were okay to decent. Spider-Man: No Way Home and the 2022 MCU films are hopefully good or even great
Kumail nanjiani taking finger guns to the next level, also when I found out the eternals were synths and one dies I wished I had the old windows shutdown sound on my phone, the most interesting part for me was wider connection to the MCU, the black knight tease in the post credits, also the fact they may be redoing galactus is pretty cool
Thank you for the honest review. Some UA-camrs critics have lost objectivity
Film was great. I'm looking forward to more academy award winning directors coming to direct in the MCU

Agreed lol
GAHHHH.... this was undeniably THEE WORST MOVIE OF THE CENTURY!!
I had feeling this movie was going be confusing

Nothing was as bad as Suicide Squad.
The Eternals needed to have free will because they're intended to blend with the human population. That's why their memories were kept inside the hub after another Celestial giant rose up and destroyed a planet. They're always molded to blend with each kind of lives in one planet at a time, one universe at a time.
and was forbidden to interfere in everything?
like for what? so useless..

I was already bored when they showed Celestials(in trailer). No need to Introduce God Characters, No need to make this, no need to for an Universe.

It’s such a relief to see someone else mention the ridiculous way that The Flash runs in the DC movies. I can’t stand it!

Not a white people equals woke? If you think so then I guess it is.
The Eternals is by Jack Kirby and should've had Ragnaroks color and weird tech instead of looking like a natural light Batman v Superman.
Thanos is an Eternal with the Deviant gene. For that reason alone, the eternals should have been very involved in the infinity war.
You're right . The Movie Sucked . Only having the potential to ruin the MCU flow .
Also, the Eternals seem pointless because in the end, they don’t seem much different from the Avengers in terms of powers and abilities. Shouldn’t these guys be super powerful, godlike/angelic beings, fighting demonlike cosmic level threats? Like… I thought this movie was supposed to be at a completely different level, something human beings (or the Avengers at least) just couldn’t handle
But you have a slightly overpowered magic Quicksilver, Black Widow, Iron Man, Vision, Hulk, Wanda… only a few do seem their own league, but even then, Ajax dies unimpressively, fighting… with a shotgun? What is this? Lol
The Deviants seem pretty much like the alien dogs from the battle of Wakanda in Infinity War. You can clearly see the Avengers taking them on with no problem
So, I didn’t hate the movie. But they just don’t care anymore
Oh well!
They've got a bottomless shit pit full of excuses "they were under orders not to interfere" "it was only 50% of the population (yea but wha about Endgame?)"
And when everything else fails...
But it was cool
For me overall.
Eternals, Morbius and Cap Marvel 2 are the movies I have very little expectations on. I feel like phase 4 will be 50/50 hit or miss
seems like there's still an active minority defending the film, thus the 1/7 dislike ratio
that's funny imaging defending a film with a less than 50% rating on rotten

Marvel takes YEARS yo get from one phase to the next. Some of these "actors" do not have the time.
Yep. Like Hugo Weaving turning down the chance to reprise his role as Red Skull in Infinity War
@PiffMasterG Damn. It's like the Terrence Howard situation

ETERNALS REVIEW*
ETERNALS is a "Thinking Man's" Marvel
Movie.
(If you haven’t realized this, you need to get out more often and open your eyes, or have your eyes checked.)
And whether you like it or not, accept it or not-there are BROWN/BLACK/ETHNIC, LGBTQ, DISABLED (or I prefer “DIFFERENTLY ABLED”) people that live, breathe, co-exist & share space with us on a DAILY BASIS!
…Just too much for the average Mind, I guess.
one of the best reviews Chanel on UA-cam , no bullshit no sucking up to marvel straight forward reviews ...... I agree with you 100% . keeps it up
Thanks for the review Adam. You just saved me 2 hours of my life!
“Time” by Pink Floyd and Richard Madden’s acting were bright spots.

I say watch it, give it a chance, and make up you own mind about it.
You should watch the movie. Don't listen to reviewers and have a opinion of your own, whether that's really good or bad. Personally, I loved this movie. Top 10 mcu imo
I am SO tired of the evil Superman trope at this point.
"Maybe I'm insulting the eternal FAN out there"
I loved the movie!! But damn your review is soooo funny! And Accurate! Love it dude! 😂❤️
This is brilliant. Youve put into words EXACTLY how I feel about this movie
Thanks Gary. Hope to see you stick around!
8:35
14:20 - These are really great points actually, why not give all of them the same power as the superman character?
I’ve got a good one for you, how does the magic used by Dr. Strange and crew tire into the divine space energy used by celestials and eternals
after 40 minutes of viewing this film, i just slept then afterwards i just turn off, coz i was bored with this film.
It was so many isolated scenes that were pasted together and the story made no sense. I literally had no idea what was going on
This review expresses the rage I felt after watching the film. So many plot holes, so many unanswered questions.
This movie was horrible! The critics were right for a change.
-------
Boring, slow, nonsensical.
I liked how revolutionary it was, it bravely featured
- gay interracial couple (black and middle eastern) who raised a black son
- 2 interracial relationships
- asian female leader
- mute girl with superpowers
- the evil villain is a white male
- finally a powerful Indian character who isn’t just the IT nerd
Things it can do better
- why he and she, genders assumed, use they please, dislike
- 2 people who died were people of colour, yet the white people survived
- no transsexuals
- fetishisation of asian female by white men
- didn’t condemn Donald trump
- the God figure was a male
- strongest hero was a white
- black son of gay couple was made to participate in stereotypical toxic masculine activists such as playing football
Overall a very good start, I believe the strong campaigning for social justice overcame minor points such as
- the lack of chemistry between any of the romantic portrayals
- the lack of chemistry between any of the heroes
- the lack of interesting powers possessed by the heroes
- no character development
- confusing names - can anyone name all the heroes without googling
- the illogical plot -> big red boy created universe but lost control of a bunch of blue animals, orite den
I just noticed that Eternal is just basically a copy of DC Justice league...
1)Fly, super strength, eye laser (Superman)
2)A female worrior from lost civilization (Wonder Woman)
3)A speedster (Flash)
4)An edgy character knows everything (Batman)
5)A dude with bs tech (Cyborg)
It's a bad copy. DC Justice League is surprisingly a good movie but this one is a waste of time
The movie was bold and different... it just also happened to be crap
Love humor!
For me superman (ikaris) was a worse version of The Boy's homelander lmao
This movie was so freaking boring, slow and the acting was embarrassing. I was cringing in my seat watching this ridiculous crap. I certainly hated it. For a movie that is trying to get into deeper things mythology, these characters and story felt like a CW series. It looked like they wanted to expand the lore but had no budget. Guardians of the Galaxy felt bigger in scope than this boring dreck.
