    It depends on the time of year. Palo Duro Canyon and Caprock Canyons are beautiful and interesting in the spring. Check my videos for reviews on the Parks I've visited....

    Hey Bob,great video there,sorry about Mr Tripod. Some good country you have there,hope you get around to finding those caves. I find when i use the Alice pack without the frame it just makes my back sweat and when in the cold can be very annoying as my back starts to freeze,i suppose it works for some though. Thanks and stay safe.

    :) the eggs and bacon are excellent. the best bet to get mountain house directly from there website. if you buy in bulk it's a lot cheaper. I went by your page looking for the video on your sleep system I didn't see it? I'm not sure if you had a chance to upload it or not. when you do let me know I'd like to watch it. and yes mres are a little bit on the heavy side.

    You look like a guy who shoots a lot of outdoor video. We here at deadcatdot would like to send you some wind noise filters like no other for free. Just find our webpage and send us your snail mail address and the make and model of all the cameras you use and we'll get some samples for beta testing of the new MK5 versions out to you.

    Question, how would you put your shoulder straps on if, your pack doesn't have the metal rings your supposed to use?

    • @Bob808Knight
      @Bob808Knight  5 років тому +1

      That is a good question...And I have an answer for you.. You will have to get some nylon straps.. What you can find at Walmart And a couple D rings.. Then you'll have sew them on yourself... If you like me you'd have to find somebody else you sew them on because I could not sew..lol.. I hope that answered your question and thank you so much for your comment..

    can I ask how you attached the molle belt to the pack without the frame? Thanks

    • @Bob808Knight
      @Bob808Knight  6 років тому +1

      Yes you can John.. It'll be a little hard to explain it in a text... But I shall try.. Under back lower portion of the pack on the right and left side there are 2 straps that normally hook into the frame.. You take those and loop them around the Horizontal straps on the Molly two waistbelt... Heads up the waist belt really doesn't support the pack any...The only thing it does is hold it to your body when you're bushwhacking.. I really hope this information helps you out... If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

      uscgalpha91 I'm glad you enjoyed the video brother. I live in Missouri.one of my favorite places to hike beside the railroad or as I call the hobo highway. Is along the Missouri River..I have to say I really do enjoy using used military gear. Why you ask is because you can trust it. I have a saying if it's good enough for the military that's good enough for me...

    • @uscgalpha91
      @uscgalpha91 10 років тому +1

      Bob808Knight,
      I now live in Seattle. I used to live in Washington MO and roamed around the woods along the MO river. Canoued all the rivers and have been using surplus US army gear my whole life. I'm 6' 4" so I had to put my large Alice on a Kelty exterior frame to get the hip belt to be on my hip. I worked for Tactical Tailor a while back and we modified/improved Alice packs. I am an expert on just about anything in Alice world.
      I travel all over the globe and take my MED Alice as my daypack. It is set up pretty much like yours. It's in at about 15 lbs so the hip thing really does'nt matter if you have a sterun strap.
      I went to Seattle Goodwill and tried on exterior frame packs and found an old kelty that had good shoulder and hip straps but a worn out pack. I stripped everything off the frame, washed the straps and belt in a 5 gal bucket and sprayed the shinny aluminum frame with OD green krylon. I cut a 12-13 inch aluminum 5/8od tube as a hanger (1/2 conduit will work great as well) and attatched to the top horizional bar by using 5 black cable ties.
      The bottom of the pack attaches to the lower horizional bar just like on the alice frame.
      This set up weighs the same but I have a much better area to attach a tarp, tent, or sleeping bag to. Also I can set my pack down on wet ground with out my pack getting wet. thanks again for making a bunch of great videos. I really appreciate your work
      Just my .02

    • @Bob808Knight
      @Bob808Knight  6 років тому +1

      Hello Bob... I'll let you in on a little secret... If you find out where the cargo is from you can usually find out we're the train is headed.. For instance you mentioned JB hunt... They have A hub in the internatonal foreign trade center and one in Kansas off of 470 Highway ( I think it's right..Don't quote me on this.. lol.. Sometimes I get my highways mixed up..) So you can kind see where I'm going that with this.. So if somebody wanted to catch a ride... All you have to do is figure out the cargoes Is heading and that would be your destination...( Not that I've ever done that😉😉)
      Video editing is not as complicated as you think.. I have a feeling you can do it Bob...
      Oh no Wally World was out of Stanley cook kits.. I sure hope they're not discontinuing the..
      Heck yes we need to get together sometime this spring... Maybe somewhere along the Missouri river... You up for a little Ninja camping? I bet you are..Talk to you later and have a great day...

    Hi Bob, hey i hope you saved the good legs of that tri pod, I just saw a video where they took them off and used them as stakes to hold up there tarp system! and they sense they fold down real small it makes for some good stakes! mine is the same tri pod and one of my legs came off, didn't brake like yours but I just put some JB weld on it and hoping it hold till I get a better tri pod!

    thank you. yes I was little saddened by the tripod incident. that one lasted me quite a long time. I tried to duct tape it back together but it didn't work out so good. doubt that you mentioned it the pack did make me a little sweaty on my back. that's not a very good thing in the winter time because if it freezes for gets too cold you can get hypothermia fast. I'm sure in the summertime it would be quite uncomfortable to.

      Thanks Michael..Yes I really do enjoy being outdoors..Good question ..Here in the US it is Illegal to hike along the railroad tracks or even be on railroad property..That law took effect in the depression mainly because of the hobos and train hoppers...Some of which would get hit by a train and others would vandalize the freight cars...So that's why I'm very careful on the railroad tracks..I really don't wanna get caught trespassing it comes with a very hefty fine and usually some jail time..Hope that answered your question.. if you have any more please feel free to ask ..Thank you so much for your comment and have a great evening ..

    • @tracygallaway886
      @tracygallaway886 5 років тому

      Hi again Bob. I was messing around w/ my Med Alice pack as I watched this video again. I agree on using the MOLLE II waist belt on it. I have a US Woodland MOLLE battle belt also. I mounted it to the pack in frame- off config. I have the improved Woodland ALICE shoulder straps. I had them mounted, but removed 'em to switch out for a set of DCU MOLLE shoulder straps instead. Those seem OK, except for the 4 side webbing straps and buckles under the upper yoke pad. What I'm still looking for, is a set of shoulder straps that have an integral yoke like the MOLLE ones, and that would have straps on the top end to mount to the oblong rings on top of the med. ALICE pack. Plus, have (ideally) the quick release lower straps with looped ends. I could just cut off the extra straps on the MOLLE ones- but I try to avoid that.
      MAybe a yoke/ shoulder strap set like this exists, I just haven't found 'em. Thanks for all your great videos over the years!

    • @Bob808Knight
      @Bob808Knight  5 років тому

      I know exactly what shoulder straps you were talking about...mmmm I think I seen some on Amazon but it's been a long time ago.. I have to search My Amazon list ti see if I can still find a link.. If I do I'll post for you.. Just to clarify you're talking about the shoulder straps with the quick release?..
      Thanks for the compliment on my videos.. I really do appreciate it.. Have a great evening my friend...
