I recently busted my rear stock shocks because 1. No Limited straps 2. The truck was 6ft plus in the air w/ 3s battery at a bmx track. 3. I always like to upgrade my setup for more durability 4. Why not! Cool truck by the way and keep up the good content, plus thank you for the upload cheers!

Really cool - thanks for the information ? What I want to ask - what oil thickness you are use, where can I find the springs and what lenght does the travel limit straps have ... ? 😵💫
I think I went pretty thin. 20 weight I believe. Check the VG racing site to see if they still have the springs. I know they've been out of stock On a lot of things
No broken axles. Scale feel never really interested me. Yes I had oil in the shocks. I tried several different setups with the stock shocks and never found one I was happy with. This setup isn't for everyone but some people have found it to be good. Thanks for watching!
Very nice setup. You LMT looks very stout with the custom panels. I just picked up an LMT a couple of days ago and on my first run I bent a rear shock shaft. I really don't know enough yet about the LMT suspension. Perhaps the stock shocks are best for stunts and stuff but I opted to go with some Traxxas Maxx shocks like others have done. I noticed that your cage is black rather than the stock blue color. I ordered a black cage for the Mega and it's totally different than the Son of a Grave Digger. Did you dye your cage to make it black?
It didn't. I bought my LMT used and that's the way it came. I'm not entirely sure how it came to be that way. If you struggle with shock tuning as in the springs are too stiff you can get the spring pack for the proline Max shocks. They came out after I made this video and have some good tuning options.
@@DoRC Losi has shock shafts for $8.99 for 2. So I can repair the one shock and have a spare left over. They also have rebuild kits and in the optional parts section they have a few different springs. I will run it with the Maxx shocks for now and look into some softer springs if I need to. Thanks again for helping me out.
I got mine as an assembly on Jenny's. If you can't find them on there you can look up the exploded view diagram for the Traxxas Max and get what you need
@@rebelrcmaniac-hn4oz Yeah it's not for everyone and limiting straps can also help with the blown shock thing. Even with the VG Springs it's going to be a pretty stiff but especially if you're running a big battery and you're doing jumps and stuff like that I think that it could definitely be a viable option. Some people that have tried it hated it and others that have tried it loved it. The good thing is even with buying the VG Springs it really doesn't cost that much to find out. I think the whole set of shocks was like 45 bucks on Jenny's.
Go to VG racing's website or eBay. If one doesn't have any other one will. You'll almost certainly want to thin out the shock fluid too. 20 weight is a good start
I designed and made them myself. I used to sell them but don't anymore. I passed the torch on to 4th dimension RC. I'm not sure if they're still doing them or not though.
Sorry but I'm not sure. The limiting straps were on the car when I bought it used and so I never had to measure them. If you get on the LMT groups on Facebook you can definitely find out there though. Thanks for watching and if you enjoy my videos a sub to my channel is appreciate it :-)
That was stock but I went to 20 weight which worked better for me. Still stiff but better. Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated!
I’m surprised how well that worked, my lmt does not jump well and I’ve been trying to figure out the shocks recently. Think I figured out what I’m going to do now as well as putting a treat servo saver and a 60kg servo cause the stock steering gear is weak.
I 3D printed them. They are pretty sweet and work well. If you're interested you can email me through the contact information or PM me if you saw this on Facebook. Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated :-)
Unfortunately the link to the springs aren't working anymore. Wich exactly are you using and what thickness of oil? Also, im really interested in your files, but I can't find your email.
The VG racing Maxx Springs are the ones I was using. I think 20 weight oil is a good option. My email address is available in the about section on my channel but it has to be viewed from a desktop as for some reason UA-cam won't let people see email addresses on mobile.
I purchased all these parts based on this review and my truck is way to stiff, it is like a pogo stick. Are you running the stock weight oil from the maxx or did you change that too? I am used to my xmaxx which take landings like a sponge and this is bouncing all over the place. I’m sure the tires aren’t helping but it certainly isn’t as smooth as your before and after video. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Im running 20w at the moment but the video was with stock fluid. Are you running the vg spring? Where are your preload collars? What position on the axle do you have the shocks mounted? This setup will be more stiff then the original for sure and i mostly do a lot of jumping so the setup in the video might not.be for everyone. I also have quite a few upgrades on my truck which make it somewhat heavier. The weight will affect how stiff the springs feel as well.
@@DoRC yes I bought the shocks and big springs collars are all the way up as far as they will go and the shocks are in the the stock location. I will try the lower weight oil too. Thanks
@@stevewinn4913 gotcha. Well hopefully thinning out the fluid works for you. It's possible that it just doesn't work with your particular combination and your type of bashing too
My LMT Son-Uva Digger just arrived yesterday as of this comment. Those shocks are very cool and perform great, thanks for the video! I am curious about all the 3d printed parts you have on the roller and what purpose they serve. Your LMT looks much beefier and durable. I saw in your response to another comment that you printed them. Could you walk me though how it reinforces your rig? And, I wouldn't mind buying a set of your 3d printed mods. 💯💯💯💯💯

I run mine pretty hard too and my stock shocks are getting tired I think. I had actually thought of looking into these shocks because the Traxxas Maxx shocks are all the same length like the LMT where as with an arrma kraton or something like that the fronts and rears are different lengths.
Yeah they are cheap and super tough. I would definitely suggest getting the VG racing springs with them as they are pretty soft right at the beginning which is nice. I've got links to both in the description.
Yeah not sure how many of the upgrades I've done are strictly necessary. I just really like upgrading :-) I do think that these shocks are a good upgrade though
Glad I came across this. Almost bought limiting straps. This is waaaay better. Thanks bro
