@vitodambra72 the nitro 3.3 is the one. I sold my erevo shortly after buying it because it kept breaking every time I used it. Hopefully one day the greedy corporate bastards that are ruining traxxas will get fired.
I've been day dreaming about owning the Revo 3.3 for 20 years. Life got in the way. I'm a year back in the hobby, starting with a Brushed Mini E-Revo. I now have two V1 E-REVO Brushless Editions, (one running, one for parts) and a 2.0 that I'm rebuilding. It was rusted out from the previous owner driving it on a beach and not cleaning it afterward. If the rumors are true, then I really gotta get a 3.3 brand new before I can't. Edit: I've also had an eye open for a used Summit at a good price.
Bought my first rc car in August and it was a mini erevo. Fell in love with it and the hobby. Now I have 2 one upgraded and one stock with several other cars and adding lol
I still have my gen 1 erevo 2.0, it’s easily my favorite RC of all time. In 5 years I’ve replaced 1 body, one rear wing mount, 1 wing, and a double plastic spurs before going to metal. Other than that, Its only been replace the fluids once every couple years. I was on my original drive shafts until very recently, just because they were so old and had a lot of slop. Never broke though. I’m never letting go of this awesome rc. I might have to do the summit shock mod though.
If you want to do it get them soon. The summit is out of production and last I looked there aren't very many of the sets of shocks left. At only 20 bucks it's pretty crazy deal
In 1995 I bought a mid range RC boat from a hobby shop in Austin. The battery case was pretty much identical to that receiver case as far as the clamp style. I wish I could remember the model or even the company of that boat. When I bought it it was a version 6 and had "improved even more" waterproof battery compartment. I am sure RC boats kicked that off way before Traxxis.
That's what I heard from other people as well though I still haven't gotten an actual model I can look up and reference. If that's the case though that means that Traxxas didn't originally invent any of the things that they sued for as it relates to the Nero at least.
I have the OG brushless Erevo with the MXL castle esc, I mostly run 4s but that thing still rocks. Haven't had any diff issues and only breakages I've had are tires, rear upper hingepin mount, and the plastic spur. I put on the HR 68t metal replacement and it's a torquey beast that never fails me. Fun to look back at a time where not every Traxxas release was a copy of something else or a rerelease of an older platform to get a quick buck, though that was a few years before I joined the hobby. Looking to get the rest of the revo's (nitro and 1/16VXL) before theyre gone forever, because it would be sick to have the full lineup of a bygone era.
@ Nothing too spicy as I know it’s not the toughest. Blx185, Leopard Hobby 4282 2000kv motor, Zoskay 35kg servo, all paired to my Rc6gs. So I’ll have gyro for more stability. I plan on only running 4s.
Always appreciate some nitro content in this day and age 👌🔥! I’ve got a Tmaxx 2.5R and that is one wicked truck, I’ve had an Erevo 2.0 and was awesome also! Personally I think Traxxas have taken a step back I don’t understand why they went through all the effort of suing other companies because of this very platform yet haven’t taken advantage and created an E Revo 3.0. Nitro seems to be a very marmite subject in this hobby now you ever love it (like me) or can’t stand it but either way I find it very unfair companies don’t really bother with Nitro besides Kyosho, Hobao & HPI I hope it still has a future in the hobby. Great Video!
@ perhaps! I do think it’s a shame really I started out with electric Rc’s and I tried an nitro awhile back and found it very rewarding, sure it was annoying at times but honestly you learn how they work and how to tune and now I have the best of both worlds! Currently have half & half with 13 nitros & 13 electric RCs! Would you do a rc collection tour or yours? Do you have many more nitros besides the revo?
Love the video and your style bro! Keep up the great content! I have an E Revo 2.0, cool design, too fragile and overly complicated to work on. It's a shelf queen/novelty IMO.
Yeah it's a lot of fun and when the platform first came out it wasn't nearly as much of an issue as it is now with the design and fragility. But yeah by today's standards it's not the best. It's still fun though
I think as long as you bash it the way people used to bash when the platform first came out it works well. 20 years ago people weren't doing 15 ft high quadruple backflips :-)
@@DoRC Very true. I don't do the big air stunting myself, mostly ripping around on a back yard track, but the Revo still fails even there for me. I break tie rod and push rod links/ends routinely, plus the diffs are weak, shock rod ends get sloppy way too quickly due to the extreme spring rates the cantilever design requires also. I really like it for it's uniqueness, but it just doesn't deliver for me. I got mine for free from my brother, so not like I dumped $600 or $700 on it. But if I had.. well, I'd be truly disappointed. LOL.
I have an E Revo 2.0 and several 1/16 ERevos. They're some of my favorite RC cars and I'll be hanging onto them for a long time. I wish Traxxas would do an E Revo 3.0. I'd certainly buy one.
Another great video. I was like 9 or 10 when the TMaxx was released. I remember thinking this was peak RC as I had my Radio Shack 4x4 Off Road Wild... I think thats what it was called 😅
I do believe that Traxxas probably will never release a new nitro model but they will not discontinue them. I’ve heard people say that they contacted traxxas and dealers say that they will not discontinued them. That means that they will sell there current lineup and continue to have parts support for years to come. It would be cool for traxxas to release a nitro buggy or I would love to see a nitro slash with a 2 speed transmission like the jato. The revo is such an engineering masterpiece. They chassis is so complex and suspension but it makes it become a work of art. I do own one and I hate working on it but that’s besides the point. Traxxas used all of there nitro technology and put it all into the revo and they did a good job. Your revo with the O.S 21 is very nice! The power is insane!
Entirely possible. I was just going off a rumor I'd heard. You know how that goes. Yeah the OS21 on the short wheelbase Revo is awesome. That was actually still tuned very rich as the engine only has a little over a quart through it
Ive owned most of the popular Rc trucks out there at this point and the 2.0 and Nitro 3.3/2.5 are still my go to's. They're just a different experience. I'm still hoping they release a 3.0 and keep the nitros going. An update to the nitro line would be awesome too... something that gets everyone's attention again.
Loved the OG Nitro 3.3 ... went thru 2 engines till it finally clapped out . Super excited about the mini when it came out and got one ...Couldn't sell that piece of junk fast enough . LOL .
@@DoRC I don't own any "mini's", but my bro has the Mini E, it's like a hummingbird on crack, LOL! They say the Mini E is better that the Mini Maxx? IDK, but I saw it on the internet.. LOL.
@knowair6767 Well that was probably my video :-) I'm not sure if it's necessarily a lot better but it certainly not worse in most cases and I feel like that alone is bad given that the mini E-Revo was developed 15 years ago.
The ERevo has a ton of body roll due to the high cg. Traxxas decided to raise the cg to make the car more unstable so it can do wheelies and other tricks easier versus adding more power and the durability and handling to cope with the power that is normally associated with the ability to do wheelies and other tricks that require lots of torque and wheel speed.
It is somewhat the center of gravity but it also has to do with the suspension. Most RC cars don't have as much suspension travel and the Revo suspension is typically pretty soft which both contribute
We have the mini e-revo and love it! Hopefully Traxxas keeps it around because it is such a fun and unique car. I still want a full size e-revo 2.0, but I have to keep telling myself that I can't have them all! Lol!
Great history lesson, thanks for sharing. I truly believe that all nitro will be gone within a few years. Electric RC is amazing in this era and will become even better as time goes by.
@ Yes. You are correct but the kids or person thats just getting into the hobby, they are not gonna buy a nitro because they just want to put battery and go, where in nitro, well, you know, all the lrocess you have to do just getting it to start to run, most people dont want to go through that process.
I have a 3.3. When version 2.0 came out, I converted it to electric and replaced all the driveshafts and differentials with those from the 2.0. By drilling some holes in the chassis, everything fit perfectly. It will stay with me until my last day. 😂
Had one, it was kinda slow and I had to gear it down otherwise it would overheat on grass, I sold it and eventually bought the 2.0 which I still have, good video, fun look back.
@DoRC Still haven't decided between v6 noto or Kraton I'm thinking the Kraton would be much like the 2.0 revo, you think? The wheelbase is identical to Kraton.
@@DoRCaccording to Traxxas website the brace isn’t compatible with the nitros, that’s why I tried to see if they fit and they do, but you have to get clever with mounting the exhaust support but otherwise works great
It's like everything has to evolve but they shouldn't remove them completely,,, please know that your videos are very, very entertaining and I enjoy them A LOT thanks for sharing a that knowledge
I really like my brushed 1/16 summit ! 10w shock oil ,its like a UDR monster truck at my local skate park. Im holding out hope the 1/16 line stays around longer.
Was never a Revo fan but do remember my first time seeing an ad for one at the hobby shop while picking up parts for my TMaxx. I’ve owned a couple Revos, they definitely have their own sound with that rear exhaust. Nitro is coming back tho….
I bought a second hand Revo 2.5r with a locked up motor almost 20 years ago for $50 and converted it to brushless. Great truck but I should've kept it a 2 speed
I think the ERevo slots in between the Sledge and the Maxx. Since there is no mini Sledge, I don't think they will discontinue the mini Revo as I don't think the mini Maxx is a direct competitor.
Eh. The E-Revo is almost exactly the same size as the Sledge It was very similarly priced had the same basic power system etc. I think the entire 116th E-Revo platform will be discontinued because they can release similar vehicles on this new platform. I doubt they're just going to have the minimax and that's it.
There is also a Ken Block rally 1/16 vxl on the same chassis. I was lucky to get one used, cheap. I have three 1/6's, all used - vxl merv, brushed merv, KB Rally vxl. The mervs are one of my FAVE lil bashers!
@@DoRC yeah, also you cant make them feel and drive the same after a while, you cant beat the factory tune and feel, dont know why, tried too much, gave up on them
Im so upset they discontinued the e revo. I finally got my hands on the "v2" one and months later discontinued. Like wtf man felt like a slap in the face from Traxxas
Mini E-Revo was my first actual hobby grade model, after Mini-Inferno which was pretty crappy. Still sitting on the shelf as a roller and have been donating bits and parts (mostly electronics) for other projects..Good and very fun car after all, while I don't agree their way of making business.
They also had the monster energy 69 Camaro with the 1/16 chassis, as well as a Kyle Busch nascar and Ken block rally on the 1/16 chassis. There was also a 1/16 grave digger that came with a matching backpack, the hilarious part is it was like an S-Maxx, it was 2wd that could be easily converted to 4x4 simply by adding a front diff and driveshafts lol
kraton transmitter question for experienced rc users from a newbie. The kraton 6s v6 controller doesn't have battey level indicators like the kraton 8s controller does so it got me interested. Searched the 8s transmitter on spectrum site its a Dx3 and is actually sold with the same receiver thats already in the kraton 6s v6. The dx3 also seems to have "avc" that the other controller doesn't and dx3 can be hooked up to spectrum dashboard app It also has the battery level indicator if your using the spectrum smart batteries. So all that being said would spending the 140$cad be worth it for the dx3 or would it not even work for some reason? Secondary newbie question would spectrum dashboard app work already with stock kraton 6s V6 because receiver is already in the kraton or is it the transmitter that sends signal to phone app for spectrum dashboard?
Installing the DX3 with associated receiver would give you AVC in the V6 and will work just fine. The ESC does have the ability to output telemetry. Whether or not it's worth it is up to you. I personally would consider going with an aftermarket solution as you'll get more ability to customize though it is more complicated You will need the telemetry capable receiver to get information in the dashboard through the DX3 module. I don't believe the stock receiver will give you that information.
On the 2.0 you can just remove the skid plate and access the diffs front and rear..lots of time saved. I have it down pat and takes about 5 minutes to get the diff out and another 15 to swap fluid then it's back to the bash. The gen 1 is a pain because the bulk head sandwiches the diff but with those spiral cut gears and some other heavy duty parts it will last longer. Hint pro responce tires are awesome and.light so they spin faster than those ext or the 3.8 Gemini. I have 6 of em.
Does look like an experience and i can imagine its great fun but ts also over a grand.. For me i just wont spend that on an RC car,, plus you need appropriate space. Good video, honest review.
Had a few people in the comments tell me that they have it on good authority Traxxas isn't going to be discontinuing them so maybe they'll be around for a while
I’m sitting here trying to figure out when exactly I got my Revo 2.5R 20+ yrs sounds about right a Futaba FM radio was a day one upgrade more recently I updated that to my current 2.4ghz Sanwa setup got everything working including a new Opti drive and RX Battery I’ve got plans for upgrading the servos but it’s on hold $$$ isn’t as tight. Nitro with reverse and the unique suspension setup will forever make this a classic RC and it’s what drew me to the Revo in the first place all those years ago. LMAO I have RPM arms all around ATM but I picked up the RPM rear fixed toe setup years ago at some point I’ve got to get around to installing them those have been on my parts wall almost 20yrs too 😂🤙
It’s very rare but traxxas did make a 1/16 scale grave digger for a short time. It came out with the monster jam stampedes in 2011-2013 and came with a limited edition backpack. I’ve only seen one for sale twice. Probably the rarest traxxas model out there. The promotional slash bodies are rare as well. Traxxas doesn’t even have records for them.
I had a mini revo 1st gen that i found at a yard sale. I think i ran it once and it was pretty fun. Ended up trading it in partail payment for a project car 😅
I love the Revo platform, Traxxas just did not choose innovate or improve any of the parts, the main issue I have found with my E Revo are the suspension links and toe links, as well as the ball ends on the arms. The ball ends on the arms, if they had a retainer/larger thread making it easier to know if they are seated properly, and also so they do not pull the threads. And the suspension and tow links brake extremely easy and the upgraded ones are very expensive and still break pretty easily. The Traxxas sledge links are the exact same length however they do not fit due to the ends being slightly wider and at a different angle. Great opportunity for aftermarket companies to make it however, there are very few parts despite how long the Revo platform has been out.
I would be very surprised if both of those things didn't happen. When will they happen? That's hard to tell but I don't think they're going to keep a 15-year-old model that's in direct competition with a brand new model.
raced nitro for years had 30 nitro trucks and cars at one point but i dont like them lol brushless came out and i never looked back the sound is cool an all but the headaches that go with it im over lol thanks for sharing Do
@@nighthawkj30A4 I don't think anybody wants the Traxxas nitros to go away I just think that at some point it won't be worth them continuing production on them. The nitro side of RC has been declining for a long time now and most hobby shops don't even carry nitro stuff.
@@GreatLakesRC I'd be surprised if we didn't see one. It would be strange for them to put all the money into a new platform and only release one vehicle on it.
@@RChobbyofficialtraxxas is really the best at part support for old vehicles. They even still sell parts that aren't used anymore on new vehicles since 2006 for example the old slipper clutch pegs for the 2wd transmission. Nobody uses this part anymore except some die hard traxxas retro fans. And yet traxxas still provides it.
Bought the E-Revo brushless in 2015 could never get a full run on 6s, always blew up the diffs. Went with aftermarket diff cases and gears and shimmed em but no good so i stripped down and used the parts for other projects like a monster slash. My summit was ok on 4s but killed diffs on 6s brushless. I also had the revo's oddball lil brother the Slayer pro which was a short course version i later turned into a monster conversion. They still sell it but also sell a nitro slash which is kinda strange. I wound just getting a Kraton. I beat the heck out of it and it hardly breaks.
Hey buddy I see you made a motor repair video a while back…. How hard is it to repair a broken motor shaft on something like the hobbywing fusion pro? Assuming it’s the correct size it shouldn’t be too much of an issue (if I can find the correct one online!)
It's not something I've ever tried. I suppose theoretically you could press the old shaft out and press a new one in though I'm not sure exactly how it's done originally and how much of an interference fit there is. If the original shaft is put in with the rotor housing hot it might be pretty hard to press out. I suspect by the time you buy the proper material machine it to the correct dimensions and deal with pressing the old shaft out and pressing the new shaft in without actually damaging anything there's a decent chance you would be better off just buying a new motor

Yeah they might keep it around but I also wouldn't be surprised if they just got rid of them
Almost bought a car bundle to make an E-slayer but then found a Typhon TLR to truggify instead. Awesome video as usual keep em coming 🤘🏻
Tlr is a really good buggy!
That spin flip with the wheelie landing was sick
Yeah definitely put a smile on my face.
Bought my first rc car in August and it was a mini erevo. Fell in love with it and the hobby. Now I have 2 one upgraded and one stock with several other cars and adding lol
Awesome welcome to the hobby!
Outstanding recap of the Revo! Over the years I had a 3.3, multiple Summits and a mini Summit and made some good memories with them.
Thanks!
Fun fact, in 2007 3.3 Revo was going for $600+ usd. Monthly rent for 1-bedroom apartment. Thats like $1200+ usd in today's money.
Yeah RC cars were super expensive then they got quite a bit less expensive and now they're starting to get super expensive again
Interestingly, it's only $500 in 2025. Quite a bargain for the engineering involved.
@Bennyboy1212-f4e Yeah you definitely get a lot for your money with the Revo
@@DoRC Did you make/print the skeletal shell for your Revo?
@Bennyboy1212-f4e no it's a steel shell that came with it when I bought it. I don't know where it's from.
That AA battery charger is crazy. If I hadn’t switched to a 2s pack in my dx5 pro I’d be considering it.
Yeah it's pretty neat!
You'll be amazed at what comes with the nitro. They include a lot of stuff
Great video ! I love Traxxas . I’m that guy that can’t fabricate and don’t have a big shop but I’m 8 rigs deep in Traxxas’s taint !
They definitely make a pretty decent product
I just picked up an E-Revo 2.0 roller, I'm excited to get it running!
Nice! What electronics are you going to put in it?
While companies are going to make what people will buy and I just don't think that many people are interested in nitro anymore
Awesome video bud. 😊😊😊. Can you do a video about traxxas suing everyone about all the patents they stole please 😂😂😂.
Done :-)
ua-cam.com/video/vLch69HTL_M/v-deo.html
@ awesome. Thanks a million
@ Good point, compared to today’s offerings the Revo just can’t compete. I like it, just wish it were more durable.
LOL.
@knowair6767 getting stuff for free definitely helps :-)
I have an E Revo 2.0 and several 1/16 ERevos. They're some of my favorite RC cars and I'll be hanging onto them for a long time. I wish Traxxas would do an E Revo 3.0. I'd certainly buy one.
Unfortunately I doubt that will happen. They likely discontinued it because it is direct competition for the sledge.
Another great video. I was like 9 or 10 when the TMaxx was released. I remember thinking this was peak RC as I had my Radio Shack 4x4 Off Road Wild... I think thats what it was called 😅
Same here!
I always thought that suspension was wicked and cool looking. May find one to refurbish. 😊
It definitely is cool looking
I've had multiple people tell me that they are keeping the nitros which is good though I would be very surprised if we ever see any eRevo 3.0.
15:24: the best advert for nitro RC I've seen 😂
:)
There are also steel rear chassis braces for the erevo which I highly recommend. I’ve bent my aluminum one several times
Good to know!
I bent many also. Steel is the ticket
Loved the OG Nitro 3.3 ... went thru 2 engines till it finally clapped out .
Super excited about the mini when it came out and got one ...Couldn't sell that piece of junk fast enough . LOL .
These days the mini is a lot better with a few choice upgrades
Lol!
If you want a 2.0 I'd get one soon. The used market is still pretty good for them but that will likely change over the next few years.
@DoRC I agree, and I will show your post to "Mommo RC" when she asks why I needed yet another car! Lol!
I love my Revo. I have an e revo brushless and 1/16 brushless I love both of them. They drive so different
They're definitely a lot of fun
Great history lesson, thanks for sharing. I truly believe that all nitro will be gone within a few years. Electric RC is amazing in this era and will become even better as time goes by.
I don't think they'll all disappear but I don't think we'll be saying too many new models that aren't for racing
Absolutely not! Nitro is still going strong in racing.
@ Yes. You are correct but the kids or person thats just getting into the hobby, they are not gonna buy a nitro because they just want to put battery and go, where in nitro, well, you know, all the lrocess you have to do just getting it to start to run, most people dont want to go through that process.
@AsurasWrath164 That may be but think about what percentage of people in the hobby are racers. If it's more than 1% I would be very surprised.
@DoRC I am aware of that. He said "all of nitro will be gone" , but that small percentage of racers will keep it alive.
Even though the erevo is not the most durable they are one of the most fun and cool looking cars in my opinion
I agree. They are definitely unique and have a different feel than anything else
Another great video and I had my fair share of revo fun for sure!! Salute the revo
Thanks
Great video with a lot of information I didn't know.
That was the goal :-) Glad you enjoyed!
I have a 3.3. When version 2.0 came out, I converted it to electric and replaced all the driveshafts and differentials with those from the 2.0. By drilling some holes in the chassis, everything fit perfectly. It will stay with me until my last day. 😂
Nice!
Had one, it was kinda slow and I had to gear it down otherwise it would overheat on grass, I sold it and eventually bought the 2.0 which I still have, good video, fun look back.
Which one overheated?
@DoRC the nitro one
@chriszak3282 ah. Yeah running nitros through any kind of real grass can definitely cause overheating
@DoRC Still haven't decided between v6 noto or Kraton I'm thinking the Kraton would be much like the 2.0 revo, you think? The wheelbase is identical to Kraton.
@chriszak3282 Yes. It would be a lot more similar to the 2.0 than the notorious would
That aluminum chassis brace also works for a Revo and Slayer, I have that brace on my nitros.
Yeah it's actually originally designed for those. Isn't even supposed to be used on the 2.0
@@DoRCaccording to Traxxas website the brace isn’t compatible with the nitros, that’s why I tried to see if they fit and they do, but you have to get clever with mounting the exhaust support but otherwise works great
It's like everything has to evolve but they shouldn't remove them completely,,, please know that your videos are very, very entertaining and I enjoy them A LOT thanks for sharing a that knowledge
I do understand it's sad when a platform disappears but sometimes it's just better to start over. The Sledge is better in pretty much every way
I really like my brushed 1/16 summit ! 10w shock oil ,its like a UDR monster truck at my local skate park. Im holding out hope the 1/16 line stays around longer.
It's possible but I'd be surprised if it did. Traxxas is unlikely to want to keep competition for their own new product
There was also a boss mustang on that chassis. Looked swollen and kind of weird.. but it was licensed lol
Oh yeah! I know there were a few random short-term models that I had forgotten about that one
@DoRC there was the 1:16 kyle busch nascar truck and the ken block rally car. Both were awesome!
Was never a Revo fan but do remember my first time seeing an ad for one at the hobby shop while picking up parts for my TMaxx. I’ve owned a couple Revos, they definitely have their own sound with that rear exhaust. Nitro is coming back tho….
I haven't seen any indication that nitro is coming back. What have you seen?
I love my erevo 2.0 added some kraton v6 tires and 18:50 gearing shes a beast
Nice!
the pin a clip was used because the screw in type had a tendency to back out
Makes sense.
Amazing that they didn’t sue ARRMA for the disc brake in the Fireteam and Infraction. 😂
That would have been pretty bold.
I bought a second hand Revo 2.5r with a locked up motor almost 20 years ago for $50 and converted it to brushless. Great truck but I should've kept it a 2 speed
Not sure the 2 speed would handle brushless very well.
Traxxas also had the mustang Boss 302 also in the mini erevo platform
Ah yes!
always wanted an E-Revo 1.0 when i watched the URC review years ago.
I miss urc
There is also a Ken Block rally 1/16 vxl on the same chassis. I was lucky to get one used, cheap. I have three 1/6's, all used - vxl merv, brushed merv, KB Rally vxl. The mervs are one of my FAVE lil bashers!
Yeah people of mentioned a half a dozen different short-lived vehicles
Man my original revo was bulletproof until I bent the chassis. Was a awesome handling machine that hauled ass blue smoke
They definitely are fun! Thanks for watching :-)
Nitro rocks.
Nice to see you featuring one as I fear it's a dying art.
You're probably right though they are fun :-)
I had both mini erevo vxl and erevo 2.0, its a love hate relationship, love to drive them, but always carried them in my arms heading home 😢
They certainly are not as durable as modern platforms. They were pretty good when they were new but that was a long time ago
@@DoRC yeah, also you cant make them feel and drive the same after a while, you cant beat the factory tune and feel, dont know why, tried too much, gave up on them
Nice story about this vehicle , I really enjoyed it .
Thanks I had fun making it :-)
Good to know dude. Was kinda worried when I read abt this end of last year. 👍
Yeah Traxxas is pretty good at keeping parts availability for their older models
Fantastic to the tear down and talk through of the Arrma crap show. Thanks for taking the time and sharing your knowledge 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Im so upset they discontinued the e revo. I finally got my hands on the "v2" one and months later discontinued. Like wtf man felt like a slap in the face from Traxxas
Hey at least you got one. Fortunately Traxxas is really good at parts support on legacy vehicles
@DoRC That's my main concern is the spare parts. Wonder how long they'll keep it going tho
Mini E-Revo was my first actual hobby grade model, after Mini-Inferno which was pretty crappy. Still sitting on the shelf as a roller and have been donating bits and parts (mostly electronics) for other projects..Good and very fun car after all, while I don't agree their way of making business.
Yeah I can understand why you would feel that way
They also had the monster energy 69 Camaro with the 1/16 chassis, as well as a Kyle Busch nascar and Ken block rally on the 1/16 chassis. There was also a 1/16 grave digger that came with a matching backpack, the hilarious part is it was like an S-Maxx, it was 2wd that could be easily converted to 4x4 simply by adding a front diff and driveshafts lol
Yeah I knew they had a bunch of short-lived things on the platform I just couldn't remember what they were
@@DoRChuge collector value too for factory sealed rare 1/16 variants. I’ve seen factory sealed Kyle Busch trucks sell for $1000+
@PigglyWigglyDeluxe I'm sure!
Question, is it okay if I use an SMC Softcase battery in the snow?
Yes the cell pouches themselves are sealed so the battery is essentially waterproof
Cold weather really hurts lipos. Warm them up before use and don't demand top performance from them in really cold weather.
Great video! Very well done.
Thanks!
i love how the older one has hex hardwear. and most my cars dont even have that lol
Yeah Traxxas has been doing hex hardware for a long time
@@DoRC did you hear about the clutch thing on traxxases? you should do a video on it
The revo was a fantasy of mine back in the day I got a Jato 3.3 but man I wanted that revo 3.3 but it was a bit more expensive.
Yeah I think it was a lot of dream cars back in the day.
I do like the Traxxas waterproof receiver box, i buy them for all my non Traxxas cars that dont have receiver boxes
It's a good design
Excellent video

kraton transmitter question for experienced rc users from a newbie.
The kraton 6s v6 controller doesn't have battey level indicators like the kraton 8s controller does so it got me interested.
Searched the 8s transmitter on spectrum site its a Dx3 and is actually sold with the same receiver thats already in the kraton 6s v6.
The dx3 also seems to have "avc" that the other controller doesn't and dx3 can be hooked up to spectrum dashboard app
It also has the battery level indicator if your using the spectrum smart batteries.
I personally would consider going with an aftermarket solution as you'll get more ability to customize though it is more complicated
You will need the telemetry capable receiver to get information in the dashboard through the DX3 module.
Technically true but you still need to take most of the screws out for removing the bulkhead. It's not too bad though.
I gave a double
hoo hoo after that crazy gyro jump to wheelie maneuver.
😂 @ 10:49
It was totally on purpose too :-)
@DoRC I know..I know 😉
Does look like an experience and i can imagine its great fun but ts also over a grand.. For me i just wont spend that on an RC car,, plus you need appropriate space. Good video, honest review.
Which video was this supposed to be on?
@@DoRC ooops, just watched Tomley video for Xmaxx.. :)

Seeing any nitro discontinued makes me sad 👍
LMAO I have RPM arms all around ATM but I picked up the RPM rear fixed toe setup years ago at some point I’ve got to get around to installing them those have been on my parts wall almost 20yrs too 😂🤙
Yeah that setup can be modded to fit the 2.0 as well!
Nice yeah I know they made a bunch of different short-lived models
So rare that I think they even reused part numbers so if you go search that part number you either get something else entirely or nothing shows up
I had a mini revo 1st gen that i found at a yard sale. I think i ran it once and it was pretty fun. Ended up trading it in partail payment for a project car 😅
Nothing wrong with that!
The upgrades grey pushrods work as toe links too I think. I also remember the RPM rear end conversion working on the 2.0 with mods.
If a company changes something with no discernible improvements in quality or performance you can safely assume they did it to reduce costs.
Agreed
Do you think they would discontinue the mini Erevo and then start making a mini sledge??
I would be very surprised if both of those things didn't happen. When will they happen? That's hard to tell but I don't think they're going to keep a 15-year-old model that's in direct competition with a brand new model.
raced nitro for years had 30 nitro trucks and cars at one point but i dont like them lol brushless came out and i never looked back the sound is cool an all but the headaches that go with it im over lol thanks for sharing Do
Yeah I think they're great for a novelty but 99% of the time I will run electric
There were special licensed models released on the 1/16 platform.
Yeah there were definitely a few!
I've got a version one Revo it sucks getting the differentials out😂
Yeah it's a bit of a hassle
Traxxas Revo 3.3 will still be around its sell really well. Along with the Jato & Tmaxx’s.
Do you have statistics on sales?
@ i talked to Traxxas customer service. And they said it do only people who don’t like them would want Traxxas Nitro models to go away.
@@nighthawkj30A4 I don't think anybody wants the Traxxas nitros to go away I just think that at some point it won't be worth them continuing production on them. The nitro side of RC has been declining for a long time now and most hobby shops don't even carry nitro stuff.
@ nitro rc is more how the hobby is supposed to. More interesting to most. Electric gets boring.
@nighthawkj30A4 I can understand that perspective though I've never been able to do a quadruple backflip 20 ft in the air with a nitro :-)
I agree about the mini e-revo. I’m sure it will be replaced by a new version since mini RC’s are hot right now 👍
My guess is that we will see a mini XRT on the mini Max platform
@DoRC that would be pretty cool!
@@GreatLakesRC I'd be surprised if we didn't see one. It would be strange for them to put all the money into a new platform and only release one vehicle on it.
just got my 3.3. I had a feeling they were going to stop making nitros eventually so now is the time to buy.
I've heard from several people now that they aren't going to be stopping but we shall see
The e-revo 2.0 was much larger than the original and drive more easily but after two run the 2 plastic servo stop working and I resale it :)
Yeah the stock servos weren't very good.
How long do you think they will sell parts for the e revo
They still sell parts for the E-Maxx... that car is 20 years old!
Probably as long as you want. Traxxas is really good at keeping up parts support
@ ok thanks
@@RChobbyofficialtraxxas is really the best at part support for old vehicles. They even still sell parts that aren't used anymore on new vehicles since 2006 for example the old slipper clutch pegs for the 2wd transmission. Nobody uses this part anymore except some die hard traxxas retro fans. And yet traxxas still provides it.
Great video!
Thanks :-)
Bought the E-Revo brushless in 2015 could never get a full run on 6s, always blew up the diffs. Went with aftermarket diff cases and gears and shimmed em but no good so i stripped down and used the parts for other projects like a monster slash. My summit was ok on 4s but killed diffs on 6s brushless. I also had the revo's oddball lil brother the Slayer pro which was a short course version i later turned into a monster conversion. They still sell it but also sell a nitro slash which is kinda strange. I wound just getting a Kraton. I beat the heck out of it and it hardly breaks.
Yeah unfortunately the differentials that were in that truck were never meant for that kind of power or weight.
Isnt the nitro revo 3.3 still being made?
Yes I explained everything at the end of the video :-)
@DoRC yes. My bad, I sent the comment a touch too early ,lol
When will the Traxxas patents expire?
Typically 20 years so I guess around 2028 unless they get some sort of extension
@ it would be cool to have Arrma come out with the Nero again when the patent expires
