Yesterwynde: This album is like an old concept album by Pink Floyd, you might take the time to listen to it from the first song all thru to the last one. After about 50 times now it grew on me up to the 5 best albums I own - and I am 64 now and have about 8000 records. The last song -Lanternlight- is my personal song of the year 2024 by far. It is very, VERY different but exactly that is the reason. For me Nightwish has evolved to those rare bands, that create art without any consideration to what anybody expected or to say it the short way: Nightwish does Nightwish things. Like some, I thought, at first, 'great, but not enough Floor'. Then I got to 'Lanternlight' and, TBH, that is as much Floor as I can stand without breaking down completely:). Overall, another stunning Tuomas masterpiece, even with the Valkyrie trying to tear my heart out at the end.
Great reaction again dude, and some of your finest air drum work. Absolutely agree with you regarding people's expectations for new albums - if people want a band that never changes then go listen to Slayer or AC/DC, both great bands, but thats not Nightwish, they will never be formulaic, they go where they will, and for me this is another piece of genius from them, and Floor brings the emotional connection like only she can, particularly on the extraordinary Lanternlight 🤘
Too much Troy in this album. He’s a 3d string backup singer. I’d rather hear more Floor & choir if they don’t get another male voice m, even a guest singer.
I totally disagree. Troy has a beautiful voice. It might not have the power of Marco but it has its place in the band. His contribution in Lanternlight was perfect.
@ exactly. His place singing in the band is singing an octave lower than Floor being the third voice in the background. Sometimes you can’t even understand words it’s just low tones. That’s his place. Also, his voice isn’t very versatile. So that’s pretty much all he can do.
