Yes. Tuomas wrote this in remembrance of his father who died in 2021. In his own words: It's not a sad song, although the begiining of the song has a saad feeling. In stead, it is a love song, celebrating ones long and meaningful life.
Lanternlight is breathtakingly gorgeous ❣️ Not able to listen to this with dry eyes, it goes straight to your soul. It’s so fragile and strong at the same time. What a gorgeous piece of music composed by Tuomas and so emotionally sung by Floor. Tuomas said that Lanternlight is a song of love to celebrate live of the people that passed. In this case mainly his dad. My favorite song from the new album followed by An Ocean of Strange Islands.
Seriously … if I should choose a song for my wake it would be this song - this video. I would second what you said about Floor. She is an accomplished artist, wife, mother … unlike others not afraid to show the lines of life - the aging that says “I was here - and am proud of this life”
Wonderful reaction good sir!! I absolutely love this song and it truly is a celebration of life for me personally! The video’s imagery is perfect… thank you for your reaction!! 🙏❤️
Skål! This hits straight to your soul. My cat turned 18 a month ago, and both of my parents passed about two decades ago. So 🥹🥺 (and the white dressed clergyman at the end is the pope Leo XIII, the first filmed pope, and the firstly born human ever filmed).
A beautiful song by Nightwish. Goosebumps feeling..... I sit back and enjoy the beauty of this music. Thank you Viking for this enchanting moment and for sharing......
In this video I like that part where she sings the last lanternlight. The shadows and an expression on her face give the image of almost crying, but when she turns, there’s this beautiful smile of hope, joy, love… ❤
Hi, 74 years old hippie from the Netherlands =Floor, Irene, Simone, Anneke, Dianne, Charlotte, Sharon, Marcella, Joost (LUL) & Arjen (Ayreon) Country= reporting in: There are a lot of Singers/Musicians who are important for the Music Industry (SALES) and there are Singers/Musicians, NOT A LOT, who are important for The Music History, as an ART ... That's where you find FLOOR & Nightwish !!! Shine on friend ... 🤘
Oh yes you are going the right way with the song for sure. This is a celebraition to all of them who was here befor us...Great reaction. Thank you. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.
floor told that this song ware the most difficult to get in the box on the hole album begores she started crying every time she started singing this one so they had to start over several times begores she cant sing when she is crying
About the cancer of your dog: I just watched an interview. YT cahannel The Diary of a CEO with Mr. Thomas Seyfried, a cancer spcialist. Along this interview Mr. Seyfried took an example how low carb food, a keto food, can cure cancer. There was a picture of a pitbull, with tumor on his upper lip. The owner of the dog watched over and over again one of Mr. Seyfried's interviews, then put her dog on a special diet - raw eggs, fish oil, small chicken pieces. Picture kollage showed that less than 18 months that tumor was completely gone and it was big. That dog lived years after that, cancer free. Thanks for the reaction. Wishing all the best to you and to your dog!
My daughter's cat had stomach ca and was given 3 months. She put him on a total carb free diet and he lived 3 years to the age of 13. Cancer feeds on carbs.
Regarding your assertion that Tuomas found his muse in Floor. I think there is a lot of truth in that. Perhaps it is just a coincidence, but both Tuomas and Floor originally wanted to be biologists, and the trilogy of albums with Floor have a biological thread running through them. Though the initial songwriting is still done by Tuomas, Floor's ability to sing pretty much anything he can throw at her (within reason of course) gives him a broad canvas on which to paint his masterpieces, even with Marko gone. He also still has Troy's lovely, gentle voice and it is so gratifying to hear it used even more on this latest album. I also get the impression that Tuomas and Troy share many values and perspectives. With chemistry like that in a band, no wonder the music they produce is so magical.
About (part of) the movie scenes in the background: I recognized pope Leo XIII and wiki is saying: "Leo XIII, who was born in 1810 and was thus 86 years old in 1896, is considered the earliest-born person ever to be captured on film. The images of him are well-known, and recently were enhanced and colorized on-line.” ua-cam.com/video/3IVQ-1t92hA/v-deo.htmlsi=hXFM4fDfXhhyaWan
So beautiful and moving. I've yet to find the right word to describe the feeling of this - it's almost the exact opposite of 'bittersweet'. Oddly, I am reminded of Babymetal's _Monochrome,_ which I read as a hopeful song about the bombing of Hiroshima. Both are about looking forward after loss. All my sympathy for having to say goodbye to your dog - we lost our 14-year-old lurcher to cancer a few weeks ago, and it is hard. Take care of yourself.
Con esta balada tuve la mayor de las experiencias, una vecina llamo a mi puerta preguntando por el titulo de la canción y el grupo que la cantaba, si o si todos mis vecinos sobretodo los fines de semana les agasajo con Nightwish.
Dropping a line here as I do not know how else to suggest to you. Emma Kok has several songs out there now that I think you would enjoy reactions to. Dancing on the Stars with Andre Rieu original video with introduction to the song. She just recently performed Imagine a few days ago and a wonderful Disney musical concert preview. I know you were moved by her Voila performance last year.❤️
Great song and reaction but to me more importantly is you and your puppy (dog) mans best friend. i pray for a miracle for the both of you as they are truly a gift from GOD
Thank you for the wonderful reaction, Viking.🥰 Floor is in my opinion one of the greatest female voices out there. Maybe you have already see this little video from Tuomas: ua-cam.com/users/shortskQFEAiBmG6c
Dus vandaar, dikke knuffel.
Nice one
a well known phrase: don't cry because I'm gone, be glad I was here
Yess...Nightwish is really grown up now and....still growing....they are far from done yet.
Thanks for the great teaction❤

@@pdutchie4924 I concur
Yes. That is exactly what it means .. hope .. and a celebration of a life fully lived .. praise not sadness

Healing is what it brings to me, simply magical.

Lovely vocals, as usual. More thought-provoking lyrics. Another great song by Nightwish. 😊
Really loved this song. A great song to get me to relax before sleep. Thank you Viking ❤ Mary b.
Nightwish has evolved but their sound is still distinctly Nightwish.🎸🤘
My song of the year 2024 - period.
In this video I like that part where she sings the last lanternlight. The shadows and an expression on her face give the image of almost crying, but when she turns, there’s this beautiful smile of hope, joy, love… ❤

Great reaction, as always. And yes, this song has sadness and hope. This is a masterpiece!
Absolutely beautiful. I agree with your take on it. Thank you.
This was unbelievably beautiful! It could make you cry even if you don't have something going on.
that was beautiful
floor told that this song ware the most difficult to get in the box on the hole album begores she started crying every time she started singing this one so they had to start over several times begores she cant sing when she is crying
Do the entire album, it is great.
Beautiful, great reaction
I believe Tuomas would be very happy to know that the song makes you feel hopeful!
Nightwish doing Nightwish things....

Indeed, 21 February 1981. I’m August 20th, 1982. 1,5 year (almost) to the day ;)
