  • Already at takeoff from Schilthorn it was clear that there are extraordinary circumstances that day. Within only a few minutes I climbed up to 3800m.
Instead of crossing directly towards Jungfrau, I decided to take the route via Gspaltenhorn in the west because from there the crossing towards Jungfrau is shorter. After that crossing towards the Rottalhütte I began climbing first with thermals, and the higher I got dynamically, along the south west flank of the Jungfrau, until I finally saw Jungfrau at the same altitude. The thermals alone would not have been enough, so I was glad I could count on the relatively strong northwest wind for climbing the last 400m.
After Jungfrau, flying over Mönch and Eiger was much easier as I reached them almost at their peak altitude.
For landing I flew via Faulhorn and Schynige Platte towards Interlaken.
Details about the flight are here:

Wow awesome! Are flights over Eiger fairly regular? What about hang gliders?

Thanks. Flying over Eiger is for sure not regular, many weather parameters must match to fly over these majestic mountains. In my case, there were thermals up to around 3800m, and above it was mostly dynamic soaring, thanks to the rather strong NW wind.
My flight started at Schilthorn and went via Jungfrau and Mönch towards Eiger, however, if there is enough NW wind, you can take off at Jungfraujoch (3500m) and soar up Mönch, and then fly over to Eiger... This way it is a bit easier, but still far from regular.
I don't see why a hang glider could not have done the same flight, taking off at Schilthorn would be easily possible, as well as thermalling up...
