Man this is so freakin impressive. Thanks for sharing all of the effort that you put into this. I work in software but whenever they make regular-ass workstations look like this, I'm so down.
Nice work!! Good to see other crazy people doing the same... I export the three MFDs, the IFEI with DCS export funtion and the five gauges exported by Helios on the big second screen and I use a third 7" screen on top for the UFC. My F18 cockpit is seperated in 4 segments. center dash, left and right panels and the ejection seat. All buttons, switches, magnetic held switches, additional gauges, warning lights are working. it took years to get all the necessary parts. The "bleed air" 4 position switch is a good example. I took it from an old oven... I need to rebuild my UFC because I did a dirty soldering job three years ago. Sometimes my button 3 is not working :-D The top cover is already 3d printed and cnc milled. Only the canopy release handle, the KY58 panel, the generator tie switch and the hidden nuclear switch is missing. And I think about to rebuild the whole cockpit frame.
@@foxbatbat2521 I can send some pics. My helios exported gauges have a much lower framerate than yours I can see :-D Sometimes 3fps only. Maybe a newer version will fix this
Thank you!!!. I saw your channel. I also made a sport wheel with and small LCD on it, using the same STM32 micro. Perhaps I´ll show it in a future video. 😁

Really cool. Heads up for anyone looking at this stuff on high end DCS hardware and desiring 60+ fps locked: DCS-BIOS introduces substantial stutters where your average FPS can be 120, but your .1% lows will be 55 and it will be consistentely every few seconds. Maybe with lightning fast (DDR5) RAM on the best possible CPU things change, but that was my experience with 5950x 3200 DDR4 RAM and an RTX 4090.
This thing is absolutely amazing! I hope that making a spare F-16 UFC with Dobber won't be too terrible as you can REALLY get away with a lot with what you currently have going (or maybe it's just easier to make something on your HOTAS be the dobber haha)
At beginning i thought its half winwing half self made but then i realized most is selfmade or from somewhere else if u did it by urself i have to say u did really good job, also if u coukd share if any of these parts except ufc and mfds are avaible it would help building my cockpit
Thank you for your nice comment. Sorry, I can't share the pieces because I designed them for specific measurements, and once printed, they were modified to fit (I'm not a professional designer, :) ). So if I share them, I need to redesign them better. I'll think about it anyway.
Gracias hombre.
Very impressive, especially with how thin you got all the panels so they aren't raised far from the monitor display. I've been wanting to build my own MFDs similar to these so I can swap out different styles for F/A-18, AH-64, and JF-17 but I keep procrastinating at the thought of doing all the wiring in a compact way. How did you connect all of the 90 buttons to the STM32 with it's limited GPIO pins? Did you use a set of I/O expanders, or a resistor ladder wiring, or a button matrix? I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you!! Yes, you got it. You have to make a button matrix. You can see how to do it in the Freejoy project web. github.com/FreeJoy-Team/FreeJoyWiki And yes, I know what are you saying. it´s hard to do all the wiring: cutting wires, soldering wires, making the path for the wires, don't get confused making the matrix..... It would be better making a PCB for each MFD, but in that moment I didn´t know how to do it. Come on. Start it now!!!😉
Hello, this is a very cool setup! I use a 20" touch monitor with helios but i think it could be the next step of immersion with real buttons and switches. Can you tell me the size and resolution of the monitor to get an idea of the dimensions instead of my 20" touch monitor? Is it an old monitor where you removed the case?
Thanks!!!. It´s a 19" TFT monitor. 1366x768 resolution VGA. I think 19", 20" it´s a good size for this project, with a smaller monitor you can´t add all the instruments panel, and with a biggest one you will have to rise the main monitor and it´s not comfortable for an aerial combat mission :) Yes, I removed the case.
