Each video is an afternoon delight. I like the way you show each places with less crowd. It brings back the memories of my younger years where the world is calmer and undistructed with so many things. Wishing both of you good health. 🙂
Thank you guys for another great video. I’ll be honest, I knew nothing about Cyprus until ye went there, it’s quite interesting. I’ll def put it on my to do travel list🙌👍
That sounds great. I haven't explored Bogotá thoroughly yet so will look forward to checking out the museums there. I find all of the Latin American history really interesting. 😍
The church with the Lebanese flag is not Orthodox, it Maronite Catholic, the yellow flag is that of the Vatican. Nicosia is not a name given by the Venetians, it was given by the French Kingdom of Cyprus which preceded Venetian control.
@@FrugalTravellers Yes Maronites are one of the 5 communities of Cyprus along with Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots, Armenians and Latins. Maronites are descendants of Levant Catholic Christians who came to Cyprus 800 to 1000 years ago following the wars with Saladin etc. Traditionally they spoke a unique language based on Arabic with Greek and a Turkish influence. The vast majority of Christians in Lebanon are Maronites.
Those ruins at the town hall were amazing. Must be an adventure every time you stick a shovel in the ground! Thanks for bringing us another fascinating video.

Cyprus is steeped in history with many cultures leaving their footprint. Glad to see both sides of Nicosia and look forward to Famagusta. Civilised people don't judge but learn and respect others.

03:19 "lot of people lost their homes" Yes 1/3 of Cyprus population (200.000 people) lost their homes till today, because of the turkish invasion in 1974. and of course hearing from non Cypriots calling our occupied country ''turkish side" or "north side" or anything else it hurts. Imagine calling the occupied Ukraine, "russian" side" or "east part"
Don't act like Turkey just invaded Cyprus out of the blue. You know Enosis and EOKA very well. Cut the drama please. Ukraine has nothing to do with Cyprus. Stop trying to steal attention from Ukraine war. Greece was the Russia of that time except it was weak and could be stopped.
There is no “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”. What you have is a regime established by the occupation army similar to Manchuria in China by Japan and Donetsk now by Russia.
no, actually Greece wanted to have its own Donetsk with the same motive: There are Greeks living here so it should be a part of Greece. Your ''Enosis'' plans are crushed forever. Sorry, not sorry. Cyprus is Cypriot or it will stay divided. Don 't act like Turkey just invaded Cyprus out of the blue. You know Enosis and EOKA very well.
@@ugurrr Turkey and the Greek Junta were in the game together to partition Cyprus. Yes it is true that the Greek Cypriots, forming 80% of the population thought it was their right to ask for union with Greece in the 50s and yes it took them some time to come to terms that it wasn’t possible based in Turkish and British opposition opposition. Turkey and puppet T/C leadership (and the UK) constantly created provocations to force the two communities in Cyprus to fight each other. Foolishly G/C always fell for it. Turkey did not just invade one sunny day. Turkey, TC leadership, TMT and MIT have been working on it for 20 years. So yes there is no “TRNC” and it’s as illegal as the Vichy regime and every other occupation regime that ever existed. The Turkish army is a vicious occupying force that killed raped and pillaged the island, still keeping 200,000 people away from their homes changing the demographics of the island by bringing 100s of thousands of settlers. Tourists like the ones making the video visit the occupied areas and they enjoy the property that the rightful owners had stolen from them. As for the TC they foolishly allowed Turkey to establish roots on our island. They used to be no 2 in population now they are like no 4 behind the settlers and the Russians. They have no voice and no power as Turkey controls every aspect of their lives.
