Famagusta CYPRUS | Varosha, Inside The Abandoned Ghost City
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 лис 2024
- A day in Famagusta, Northern Cyprus, where we visit Varosha, the abandondoned ghost town left empty since the Turkish occupation in 1974. Left alone to rot for 50 years, this former military zone is now accessible to tourists and is fascinating to see.

And This Too Shall Pass!
We hope for better days in life and history. An accurate video of the beauty of Famagusta and the sadness of Varosha. Thank you very much.
Thank you 🙏 It was incredibly interesting to see Varosha and quite sad to see how the area has deteriorated but I'm sure one day it will rise again to be a developed, exciting destination. It has so much potential. 🙏👍
Hi Lee and many we have been today and it's a lovely place as such so many people affected as ever for war and for what unfortunately, keep safe travelling Alex and Sarah
@@alexperry3861 Isn't it an eerie but fascinating place. Thank you for sharing your experiences, Alex and Sarah. We appreciate your lovely comment 🙏🤗

@@Kai-NikolausSchmitt We're so pleased you found this video interesting, Kai. Thank you so much for your lovely comment, and we hope you have a great weekend 🤗🙌
I would love to go here now ! This is definitely on my list so thank you for showing it off as i had no idea it existed
You are most welcome. 🙏. We were unaware of its existence also until we started to research Cyprus. Quite an amazing place. 👍❤️
Hi Mandy and Lee - So interesting - Thanks For Uploading XX
@@Karenemm1 We're so pleased you enjoyed this video, Karen. Sending big hugs from us both xx🥰
@@FrugalTravellers Thanks to you Both ❤❤
👋Wow, what an incredible presentation of Varosha! You really captured its history and atmosphere in such a compelling way. I explored Varosha in one of my videos too, but I must say, the depth and perspective you brought here is truly inspiring. Your storytelling and visuals are on another level-amazing work! Keep it up!👍
Thanks a lot 😊 Much appreciated 🙏
Hey guys would love to go
@@Abandonedexplorer It was an amazing place to visit!
@@FrugalTravellers do you have all the information so I can get in contact with the tour company
@Abandonedexplorer We travelled to Cyprus independently, and in our Cyprus series we give practical information, advice and prices for you to do this yourself.
Wow, I never knew this place had so much scenery and history.
Can I ask when you went across the border into northern Cyprus, was it just an immigration point and did you have to pay anything to cross??
Another brilliant video!!
Very sorry to hear about your uncle Lee, and hoping that the pictures that you send him will jog his memories of when he served in Cyprus. Huge hugs being sent.
Hope all is well, take care of yourselves
Thanks so much Peter 🙏
It really is a fascinating place to visit. We made another video showing that exact border crossing. No, there's no fee to cross.
I'll see my uncle again soon and I'm hoping to be able to help him reminisce about the old days. 🙏❤️🙏
Thank you for sharing… Lee, especially about your Uncle. I lost my Mum to dementia (and my Dad’s sister). It’s such a terrible thing to go through… for them and for us. Maybe one day it will thrive again.
Thanks, Jen 🙏 So sorry to hear that. It's very hard to watch the deterioration. We do our best.
My Dad was in Cyprus during the war. He always wanted to return to have a look at it but unfortunately never made it. Wish I knew more about his time there.
It would have been very interesting to hear his stories. Such a shame he couldn't return. It's a lovely place. 👍
So sad, I think the people got on relativly well before power hungry politicians got involved.
Take care and stay safe x 🙏❤🇬🇧
@@steves7013 That's unfortunately so often the way, Steve. Look at Lebanon & Rwanda for example, so incredibly sad 😢
I wasn't know that it's a big island 😮
@@Khaled_Alsharaf It's not a huge island, but there's certainly loads of interesting cities, towns and other places. We hadn't realised how fascinating Cyprus was until we went there. I wish we'd given ourselves longer than 9 days as there's just so much more to see!
Why do you say Nicosia/Lefkosia is in North Cyprus? North Cyprus is deemed to now to be under Turkish control, Nicosia is not
These names seemed to be interchanged so much it left us quite confused. Even the Turkish style dolmus buses in North Cyprus would have a sign on the front saying Nicosia/Lefkosia.
@@FrugalTravellers Nicosia is the English name for the city, Lefkosia is the Greek, and it is Lefkosa in Turkish, but it is a city split by the UN buffer zone, the southern part is in Cyprus, the northern part is in what Turkey illegally annexed...
