Great videos guys. I visited northern Cyprus from Turkey back in 2005, unfortunately with that stamp in my passport I was not permitted to enter Greece or any of the Greek islands. Was unaware at the time. Visited Greek side of Cyprus a few years ago and was not allowed to cross into the Turkish side back then. Hopefully things are much more open now. It was lovely there. Ooo yeah that platter looked amazing!

I think you still can't enter the Republic of Cyprus if you fly into the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, but it's great that the crossing is open both ways if you fly into the Republic. It's certainly a fascinating country.

@@carolinacadabra8278 Yes, you right!!. Canada was often involved in Peacekeeping (something I always felt proud of). My good friend's husband Brian, died in Afghanistan in 2005, and I had a few other friends who were in peacekeeping missions there and other war torn countries.

What a lovely surprise! It's great that you spent the money in Larnaca too. Exploring history, which you love. I really enjoyed my time there too. My hostel was brilliant but so expensive, about £18 a night. You really lucked out with that apartment and the meal you found. I went to the local market and prepared my own food to keep the costs down. I intend to return and I will spend more time exploring the island. Especially now I have found Couch Surfing. Meeting local Cypriots or ex pats would be incredible. Congratulations on the plan to go to Pakistan. I absolutely loved it. The wonderful people, culture in the cities and then the glory of the Karakorum highway and mountains. One of my favourite trips ever and I know you will love it there. After a strange few months I wondered if perhaps my travelling days were slowing down. Then I started catching up with your vlogs. I now am going to Scandinavia, Italy, Jeddah, Alexandria and (God willing) Israel in the remaining months of the year. A lot of couch surfing. Thanks guys for inspiring me and waking me up! As I always say....If not now, when? 💙🌷💙🌷
Thank you so much, Julie 🙏🙏🙏 We really do appreciate it and it's great that now we've decided to use everything given to us for special experiences whilst travelling which we may not have done otherwise (as we are so innately frugal). This way it encourages us to do something extra and we can share the experience with others. 🙏🙏🙏 I'm so glad we went in there as it was really worth it and a real highlight of Larnaca. It can be expensive alright for accommodation there. We had to search hard for that one. You may find our further Nicosia vlogs interesting as we introduce our lovely couch surfing hosts there too. It may even inspire you to stay with them in North Nicosia. 😁 We've just finished our 6 week Pakistan trip and absolutely loved it. Especially the North. Hi great video just to correct you there is a north and south of Cyprus .the north is a fake state occupation rule from 1974 by Turkey.Before that 80% was greek Cypriots. 20% Turkish Cypriots.And in your intro you didn't mention the Greeks who had the island more then 1000 years 2 waves of greek settlers .

Wow. I lived there as I have moved my business to Cyprus. Immediately relocated as far away from Larnaca as possible and just yesterday I said to my daughter: if I was asked to design a place that has the ugliest beaches, worst restaurants, most terrible tourists and just in general design a shithole nobody who has traveled just a little bit wanted to be: it would look just like Larnaca. It even stinks. Oh, but there are Flamingos. Yeah, right. But if you are looking for a place which is 100% commercialized, you like idiots on jet skis, bad food and a coast full of ugly hotel and apartment complexes and chimneys: go to Larnaca. The promenade is the absolute worst you can imagine. Literally everything is ugly. You can even see it in the video: even the signs and posters have this terrible plastic look. The only purpose of this place is to suck as much money out of tourists as possible. It is hell on earth. to be fair: if you want to eat at KFC, McDonald's, Burger King or any other american franchise and are happy with those tourist platters they are serving in the restaurants or if you want to be squeezed onto one of those ugly cruise ships: you will love it.

Albufeira is another place that makes me run as fast as I can. Even the locals hate it as it is Disneyland for Tourists. I prefer to live with the locals and I hate what tourism did to Cyprus and Larnaca. Look at the Coast of Cyprus: it is COVERED with buildings. This is the worst way to travel ever.
