She's not wrong getting "feeling sad" vibes cause no one but Gary Moore could make the guitar sound so sad. I was lucky to see/hear Gary live way back in 1990 and the last encore was this song and he played it with such emotion, passion and also lots of improvisation. A memory for life.

SRV is a fantastically skilled guitarist, but Gary Moore has my heart. He plays with such deep emotion, it almost sounds tragic. I'm hoping you introduce Dee to my favorite Pie - Clem's weeping guitar and Steve's soulful singing and harp solo in "I Wonder" - beautiful.

He was a big blues man, in the sense of feeling the blues a lot, as well as playing blues part of the time. His other famous epic songs are emotionally similar, Parisienne Walkways, which he recorded with Phil Lynott supplying vocals, and The Loner. He was unfortunate in love, one way and another. So loneliness and unrequited love were big themes, and that's why he's a treasure for all guys who've been through rejection and loss. Still Got The Blues has a section too, although that's more typical blues. His best metal songs as an independent artist as opposed to as part of Thin Lizzy are Murder In The Skies, and Cold Hearted, imo.

Yes, I love Gary's passion, virtuosity, ferocity.
Please check out the originator, Roy Buchanan - RIP - this one and perhaps his take on Patsy Cline's 'Sweet Dreams'. Plenty more to explore if you're so inclined. Saw him numerous times in the 70s. Jeff Beck dedicated his version of Stevie Wonder's 'Cause We've Ended As Lovers' from 'Blow by Blow' to Roy. Saw that live too, 2nd time seeing him after BBA, before Jan Hammer tour, 'Wired' era.
Yeah, He might pop in at some point, but I don't think He'll be very happy. With us.

The song was written by the late, great Roy Buchanan. The lyrics are Gospel influenced and speak of the loss of grace in the world. Buchanans guitar playing was incredible, especially given that he recorded the song 50 odd years ago. He was a master of string bending which few players today could equal. He was an innovator who influenced guys like Gary Moore and Albert Lee . He played mostly blues and Country but could mix styles, genres and techniques with the very best. His was a tragic story and he died in relative obscurity. A case could easily be made for him being the greatest of all.

The guitar Gary is playing is very special. Greeny is a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard, named after its original owner, Peter Green. He used it during his time in John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and Fleetwood Mac, before selling it to Gary Moore in the early 1970s. Moore used the guitar throughout his career, including in this performance. Where is Greeny now? It is in great hands again. It doesn't matter where you are, songs like these put you in either a relaxed mode when you lay down in your chair, or it gets you so hype you can't help but bang out those weights like a monster at the gym. After he portrays the sadness of the crucifixion, he goes to hell. Then waiting in the tomb makes it hopeful. Then the end is the risen LORD triumph over death. He now sits at the throne of the Father! Happy Easter.
