- The Pinova Chemical Plant in Brunswick, Georgia. The Plant announced it was closing following a major fire. Pinova then started moving forward with the demolition of the chemical plant. This Plant has been here for more than 100 years.
Formally the Hercules Brunswick Plant, this facility used pine tree stump extracts for various chemical and rosin related products. We will cover more of the history of this plant in upcoming videos and livestreams.
The clean up has started so lets jump in and watch some of the process. Heavy equipment working to remove the debris. Excavators, dump trucks, hydraulic shears, cranes all being used. Komatsu 490 excavator being used with hydraulic shears

Thank you Capt. Andy for the video
My pleasure!
That's a whole lot of Rosin. They're doing a great job. Thanks for sharing your footage Captain. ~K~
Yes they are
Great video Andy! I remember coming through Hoboken back in the 60's and seeing the metal barrels of pine resin out in the fields waiting to be picked up. Back then they would tap the pine trees for the sap like they do maple trees, then they figured out grinding the stumps was more cost effective!
Thanks for another excellent report Andy. Enjoy your Independence day celebrations and stay safe from those storms.
What a shame! Sad to see an old historical place destroyed. I remember that place growing up and now it’s gone! 😔
Yeah that's the way it is. They always build a Chemical plant next to a Stream, River & Bay's.
With that much resin to move, it seems like they should have placed the dumpster closer.
Thinking the same thing
Thats not an operator on that loader! That is someone that has zero clue how to operate it!
They need a BIg Azz Magnet on a large crane to make quick work of the ferrous metals.
Looks to be no organization the way they go about ripping the place apart.
They need experienced Pay loader op's too..
Thanks Andy..
I'm sure the rains you've had probably caused that one pile to become more compacted
Have they released a time date to get all of this cleaned up. And that is one thing as well. Something like that could happen here were I live in Seaford, Delaware with the DuPont Plant witch was bought by the Coke Brother's and renamed Invista. And the Plant here was built in the 30s.
I haven't heard anything about a date. But you are so right
Just wondering how much has Leach into the Ground Water.
Happy 4th of July Capt. Andy
Happy 4th to you, as well, Captain.
I hope you don't eat too much Barbecue, just enough:)
Cheers,
Rik Spector
I would eat more but I have Dunlaps disease...
That's when your belly done Lap over your belt:
That rosins is known as pitch and it burns your skin and eyes ask any roofer
That scrap is pure cash.
hi andy
He has the bucket too high when he drives.
The loader becomes more unstable.
I have been seeing a lot of drone videos of the Dali, I thought you said you would be restricted to fly drones in that area, I saw a video of it being unloaded and it was from above.
Not sure where the flights were being conducted, but the map I work from shows quite a bit of restricted air space because of the proximity to the Navy facilities.
Nothing against your channel Captian Andy but UA-cam has forced me into going for commercial free premium. The commercials got to be too many and too obnoxious. Oprah pushing an erectile disfunction hack was the last straw.
At $15 a month for ad free, I can no longer afford a paid channel membership. I truly am sorry.

👍🥺
Thanks for doing what you did. Big help. I do the same thing. Pay for premium so the commercials are eliminated
