On 20 Jun 2024, our tour arrived in Zermatt, and we spent the cloudy afternoon there. Next day, we took the Gornergratbahn (cog railway) up the mountain, but rotten weather meant that we had zero view of the Matterhorn, so we disappointedly came back down to a very rainy evening and certain roads suddenly being blocked off. We had a nice dinner, but that was the extent (we thought) of our Zermatt visit, because we were to leave early the next day. However, on the sunny morning of the 22nd, we were told that the landslides and flooding had all blocked road & train routes in and out of the area--and since the rain had passed, we had a lovely extra day in the village! 😊

On 20 Jun 2024, our tour arrived in Zermatt, and we spent the cloudy afternoon there.
Next day, we took the Gornergratbahn (cog railway) up the mountain, but rotten weather meant that we had zero view of the Matterhorn, so we disappointedly came back down to a very rainy evening and certain roads suddenly being blocked off. We had a nice dinner, but that was the extent (we thought) of our Zermatt visit, because we were to leave early the next day.
However, on the sunny morning of the 22nd, we were told that the landslides and flooding had all blocked road & train routes in and out of the area--and since the rain had passed, we had a lovely extra day in the village! 😊
