I was enjoying that and then it ended, nice work Rob, I have a bracing between my purlins on hip roof that I need to remove. I am going to put a 6 x 2 in at the end nearest the hip instead, and add some collar ties above head hight for additional bracing. Having not done roof work for a long time I have been racking my brains how best to do it. But I think this will work. I just need to area for storage and the existing bracing is right across the middle of the floor area.
What happened to your steel system that you would bolt to the exiting rafters and joists? This looks more like a conventional loft conversion. Good job though.
Happy new year mate. This has proper wet my appetite to do my own home in the same way as we need hip to gable and dormer. Have no money though but I reckon I could afford the materials and do it if I grew some bigger balls ha. Could you show how to install the pad stones please as I do really want to have a go at this. But unsure where to start
No1 don't underestimate this kind of work. It needs bodies. Lots of bodies that know what they are doing. To be caught out with a downpour and a stripped roof could take down all your upstairs ceilings for example.
Great location for a new shoot Rob! Have you thought about getting yourself a little DJI Mini 4 Drone mate? Be awesome to get some aerial 360 shots of before, during & after mate! Dead easy to operate too, all fully auto. 👍🏻😉
Unbelievable graft, was wondering how you were getting them steals through the corner gap lol just curious how much does something like that cost? Are councils a pain about changing the from hip? Why would you not brick up instead of timber? Thanks in advance
Great stuff guys, looks good job so far. Please though guys, wear a dust mask whilst removing the debris/insulation/sweeping out the dusty old loft joists as much of those fibres and that dust is toxic! That's all of you, not just the guy with the broom, but anyone in the loft space! I'd also recommend treat wood (Tanalised) for longevity. A little more costly, but worth it! And of course M12 connection bolts, double sided toothed washers and nut plates as well as the nailing! I expect you'll do some regulatory strengthening bolting in a subsequent video, yes?
When doing something like this does the neighbour require a party wall agreement? Our neighbour is a nob and when we have our roof done im 100% sure he will demand one.
I have to say that seeing that expensive crane clumsily maneuver those steels into place... makes me believe that the cold rolled lightweight steel solution has it's advantages 🤷♂
Never trust anyone who wears dodgy sun glasses !!! Great advert for ppe, your lads will be chasing compo for lung damage!!! Assume building regs told you to double and triple those joists, shuold have been done before you battoned and tiled! What a dodgy squad??🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Hi Rob, your music is louder than you in places can't hear what your saying sometimes
Yes I thought the same. Great video though.

Would be nice to see the finished article at the end!
Good video. I enjoy watching your builds
Spot on to the cran man 👍

I'm an amateur but guess less structural worries and cost doing it in timber. Interesting to see how it's finished.
Whos that good looking tall lad ? 😂 great work mate. Hope you all had a great Christmas 🎄
Nice

Rob do you still do lofts for storage rooms or is it all full conversions now?
Whats with the music? Thanks for the new episode 🎉
What does something like this roughly cost? a few in my area have had hip to gable conversions so just wondering?
When’s part 2 coming out?
What the average cost for this type of hip to gable, pretty much same size of this house?
I'm so sorry you had to go to Sunderland

I wish I had just a fraction of your skill and knowledge...
Interested to understand what you did with the existing truss?

No music!!! Please

Top work. Great to see you do a traditional one. Nice to see the part 2:

It’s been a while
It was a couple of days ago 😂😂😂
Masks when you’re sweeping up that shite from the floors
Should be using a vacuum as well, try to minimise any airborne dust.
It's not DIY
little Rob is a Big pro.
