    BMW must really think that filter brand is tried and true that’s why they keep using it. Because when i had an 08 M3, it had the exact same stock filter

    Maybe this is why I seen a bunch of videos with the Sprint filter letting in too much dust? Not sure I am going to replace my filter soon and thinking between Sprint and BMC.

    hi there I have bmw s1000rr 2017 and I am from pakistan I want to install sprint po8 filter but most of people recommend me not to use as in pakistan there is alot of dust and sprint filters let pass more dust then the oem so what do you suggest?

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Рік тому +1

      The P08 is the choice of many OEM's as an everyday filter. That said, If you belive your conditions are exceptionally dusty, a P037 would be a safer/smarter choice. Use the blue support button at BrocksPerformance.com to ask our customer service team if we have a P037 available for your bike - also, if we can special order one for you if we don't.

    Thank you! I was just getting ready to install my new Sprint Air filter in my '17 S1000RR this weekend and didn't even know about the bottom tabs on inserting or how the Sprint air filter sides were a bit soft. Thank you, as you just probably saved my engine.

    Hey quick question i got a 2011 S1000RR on the left side of the fairing when you look at the engine theres 2 black plastic caps on the side of engine, one of them moves alil bit so oil is sneaking out, it doesnt seem as if the gasket is bad bike is 100% healthy im guessing the cylinder head needs to be tighten ?

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Рік тому

      The Sprint Filter logo should be facing out (you can see it when the filter is properly installed in the lower half of the airbox). On some models, you must stretch the filter a bit to make sure it fits properly in the air box. The material is soft and permeable to allow for this adjustment.

    P08f185 filters just don't like super fine pollen. I checked after spring ride. Alot made it through. Likely use stock during pollen time. It was set correctly.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  4 роки тому

      You are correct about the pollen. Here is an article on our long term test bike: blog.brocksperformance.com/sprint-filter-p08-long-term-test-kawasaki-zx-10r-2016/
      the bike switched to a P08 F1-85 at 16K miles and we recently completed another test at 23K. We will have the video up soon. The results are impressive.

      What's the choice aftermarket filter for a road bike? I'm thinking the p037 might be the best option?

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  2 роки тому +1

      @Rob Thorp, the P08 is OEM for Ducati. P037 is for very dusty conditions. Off road mostly.

    • @lordgibbness
      @lordgibbness 2 роки тому

      @@BrockDavidson that's interesting to know. Also interesting is that the BMW paper filter is rated down to 10 microns. The BMC filter is apparently comparable at 7 microns. I haven't made my decision yet on which filter to go for. Sprint P08 sounds very good from a performance point of view that's for sure...

    Have you ever tune a Yamaha R6?

  • @tnskydivr
    @tnskydivr 5 років тому

    Brock: GREAT video, as this explains EXACTLY the problem, and gives detail on how to AVOID IT. I'm going to look really hard at my filter lips when I get home, and refer to this video to check correct install. But I DO have a question (or wish you had done this in your video): With a properly installed Spring Race filter, run a white glove around on the inside of that airbox and see if it's clean or NOT...Could I have installed my Sprint race filter (trackday bike ONLY) incorrectly? Absolutely. I don't see it, but when I run my finger around the inside of my airbox, I can feel it's got some dust in it.
    What I want to know is if a properly installed Spring filter keeps the airbox clean and free of dust OR NOT. If their dust in the box, that means there has been dust in your intakes which would not be preferred.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this!

      PS: After typing the above, I was so impressed I called to compliment you but you were on the dyno :)

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  5 років тому

      @tnskdivr - If you are going to perform any type of 'white glove' test, you would be better off doing it with an OEM air filter - as opposed to a high-flow/high-performance air filter, IMHO.... we cover this at 12:37 in the video. From a Sprint Filter Standpoint: If you own a P08 Air Filter, it is constructed from a polyester material comprised of 80-micron holes. If you own a P16 race filter, it is constructed from a polyester material comprised of 160-micron holes. This means the P16 will flow DOUBLE the air...but it only has 1/2 THE FILTRATION of the P08. The P08 material is the choice of Ducati for several OEM applications. If you would like the convenience of using an easily replaceable/easy to clean one-time purchase filter with maximum dust filtering capabilities, the P037 waterproof material might be a better choice for you? Here is more detailed information: brocksperformance.com/content/brocknm/PDFS/Brochure_SF_EN_APPROVED.pdf

    • @tnskydivr
      @tnskydivr 5 років тому

      @@BrockDavidson thanks for the response! I'm not sure that still answers my question so let me ask it differently: Since the high-flow filters don't necessarily filter as well, is the dust that does get into the duct/intake a danger to the engine? Thanks!

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  5 років тому

      @@tnskydivr As a general rule, no. Of course, some basic common sense is required - if you live on or near the beach, a full race filter is not the best idea. That said, we have customers in Florida that run no filter whatsoever. If you live in an area that would not be considered 'extreme' anything that might make it through a P08 or P08 F1-85 would be harmless. Here is a Sprint Filter long term test we have been performing on a local ZX-10R: blog.brocksperformance.com/sprint-filter-p08-long-term-test-kawasaki-zx-10r-2016/

    • @tnskydivr
      @tnskydivr 5 років тому

      @@BrockDavidson Yeah, my airbox had nothing nearly like what I saw in your ZX-10R review. Wonder what that box would have looked like with A oem or wet filter...It's that 'harmless' part that worries me...harmless to a race bike which will be rebuilt often is not the same as a trackday rider's bike that he hopes makes it past the warranty :) PS I live in TN.
