I have watched this special countless times...and love it all of it...when Im really feeling depressed...i go to these specials from Carnegie Hall to Together Again...Laugh till I cry!
that beautiful high A at 9:10 min mark. So amazing, wished she had sung up there more often in this part of her career. Her voice blooms acoustically as soon as she goes above the G. You can can also hear people clapping well before this girl even finishes to sing, goes to show how incredible she sounded live. Not many people can command such a voice.
Can we please also tag this as "Musetta's Waltz" from the actual Opera La Boheme by Puccini. This is because its a variation of that actual aria that Julie, regardless of the fact that she just sings in a sketch, without lyrics even, very beautifully at the end. There isn't much of her singing classically in this era, time of her life, when I strongly believe her voice was in a very beautiful place. Its a pity she didnt record an album of her singing in this range. The only other soprano song we hear is "Sleigh Ride" and thats about it from this time. Its a gem.
Absolutely no voice like Julie Andrews'--range, doesn't shriek or squeak , beautiful and liquid all the time--& pitch perfect, too.
