Happy Birthday, Carol. I sent you a birthday card many years ago when you were on the Garry Moore Show and you sent me a postcard that said:
"Hi. You're WONDERFUL! Thank you. Carol." I still have it...somewhere. I'm now 74. Thank you for years of happiness.
Carol had an uncompromising goodness and kindness about her. Yes, she had the talent and ambition to achieve what she did, but there was no collateral damage as she moved up the ladder of success. The stars who paid tribute to her on this show did not hold back in their love and appreciation for this rare gem who still shines at the beginning of her TENTH (!) decade. It's too bad variety shows aren't produced any more - the industry has changed so much. This tribute reminds us of what we once had . . . and what we have lost.
No need to use the past tense. Carol is still working. She did a terrific job on the final season of Better Call Saul.

Seeing Bernadette and Kristin standing there. Two lovely actresses who played Lilly in Annie and performing together made my day.

Thanks for posting this. When a youngster my family all looked forward to the Carol Burnett Show and we all talked about it for days later. What Carol had over everyone else was sincerity. It wore off onto her guest who let their hair down and were able to be themselves too. I still watch episodes if I am feeling a bit down. It never fails to pick me up.

One of the greatest memories of the Carol Burnett show were the "bloopers" where they would just break down laughing at their own lines either rehearsed or adlibbed. It was a refreshing beautiful display of honest spontaneity which invited the audience right in on the humor and the fun.

Seeing Cher and Carol together really bring me back to my childhood. Love Vicki too - Mama's Family is one of my favorite sitcoms.
Vicki Lawrence's career always fascinates me. Carol read her letter when Vicki was a teen and Carol went to see her in a play. At such a young age she was invited on one of the biggest shows on TV. She started playing Mama at age 24. Mama then because huge herself.

Those who love Carol Burnett feel as if she is family. We were on her side for each thing she went through be it a divorce, a law suit she brought to prove she was not a drunk (she won), her daughter's early passing and more. Thanking her seems so little for all the fun and joy she gave to us for so long. She looks great and says her health is good. I hope she is with us for many more years. Why did they do Katy Perry singing the end of Life to Carol. "Time to say good bye". Tears. That was horrible. The rest of the show was outstanding.
Because Katy Perry is part of the NBC "cast". They exploited this tribute to feature NBC productions. A sad tactic. Yes, she was quite inappropriate.
She was definitely the low point. Seemed so out of place.

One thing that bothered me was Carol also has a long running friendship with Bernadette Peters too. Bernadette appeared on every Carol special that happened after the Carol Burnett show ended. Bernadette and Carol starred in Once Upon a Mattress and Annie movies together. Outside of Vicki Lawrence, Bernadette Peters appeared in the most Carol Burnett show episodes. And Bernadette's segments like the exorcism segment and the bratz segment are some of the most popular segments from the Carol Burnett show. I think that should have been showcased and the long time friendship between Bernadette and Carol should have been showcased too on this Carol Birthday Special.
Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love was very well done with all the stars including the actors, and actress that know Carol Burnett including her chum Dame Julie Andrews, and now Dame Carol Burnett should this is a photo album keepsake for yourself look back on when she lays down in bed, and way to go dear friend, and you did have this time together!!!!!!

Carol Burnett is an ICON of Comedy. It is sad that very few people in show business today have talent, or what passes as talent these days, as indicated in this show It was all too PC. Carol deserved better.. Vicki Lawrence should of been the MC and where was Dick Van Dyke? Sad times..
Possibly ill health for Van Dyke. All others on the show have already died. And Vicki may have just wanted to enjoy the party after all these years, and to honor her as a guest spot. Also, my mom passed last year at 94. Most her siblings except for one are gone, her RV group are all gone. Funeral was a small family affair, and online video available across the country, so those unable to travel could watch including her last remaining brother. If we are fortunate to get past 90, we outlive a lot of folks. 🙏💗😊👍
Carol Burnett is the Executive Producer of this special, so she calls the shots. This special is exactly how she planned it.

What this special does most of all is demonstrate the difference between classy intelligent comedy (Burnett) and cringingly unfunny people (with a huge "Honorable Mention" to the writers) who think the way to get real laughs is to scream, "LOOK AT ME!" ad infinitum. It's almost embarrassing to watch this, but Burnett is so amazing that I forced myself to sit through the entire thing,.

Happy Birthday to a legend of my childhood. Carol had great wit and comedic timing, I could listen to her banter with the audience for hours. I disliked her singing voice, especially when she did a serious duet with her guests.

Wow, how incredibly tacky and inconsiderate of CBS not doing this tribute to Carol. She spent the vast majority of her TV career working at the network and they can’t even do this?? Look at their schedule, how many different versions of CSI and NCIS do you need to air? How many deceivingly edited reality shows does there need to be? I haven’t watched any one program on there in about 5-6 years and the same goes for the other three networks. Vast majority of programming is just garbage.
So much kiss ass in holywood. I do appreciate Carol Burnett growing up in the 70's but just too much ... and I'm seeing Cherliz Theron three times within the first 5 minutes. She had no idea who Carol Burnett was, and then Katy Perry. So sad.

almost all of the big stars and celebrities have died by this time. that first black woman was disgusting. so far this is boring and beneath Ms. Burnet and her talent. could they have picked a worse format> Probably not. This was just painful to watch.. this was a very sexist show and discriminated against men performers
