I feel like he’s one of the few politicians that when asked a question, he actually answers it in a way where I learn something I couldn’t have answered myself. Most other politicians answer in the most generic of ways to the point where when you’ve heard one answer, you’ve heard them all.

I disagee with Romney on most policy issues. But i think fundamentally he is a good man. I dont believe that about most prominent Republicans today.

I doubt that most sensible Republicans are bad people. These days of course, good Republicans are a rarity but Mr. Romney is definitely a good one.
All of these being so, let's not forget which side of the 1%er he's on. And he's a justifiable billionaire. His luxuries are kind of deserved. But _as a good person_ he needed to do more. He's incapable of it because of the structure of our democracy.
That's not entirely his fault. But let's not doubt just how good a person he is based on "common definitions" of the term.
I hindsight I wished he had won against Obama. That's because he would have been running against Hillary and not the mental con man. Don 'I know more than anybody' Trump has cause so most damage in this country and in other parts of the world that anybody would have been an improvement regardless of the outcome. Who knows they may even been able to prosecute him for his crimes without all the outcries from naive supporters.

He did mention the interference in the US election, but didn't point out the outcome of that, the appointment of an open Putin stooge to the position of President of the US from 2017 to 2021. I'm not a Republican, but for a long time now I have admired some things about Romney. "In the history of the world, authoritarianism has been the default"...it's true, and I thank Mitt for reminding us of it. I would like to see Mitt run again in 2024, it would be a good thing for the Republican Party in my opinion.
Even though I disagree with his religious views, and probably his political views (I'm Canadian so I'm not totally informed on Romney's policies, but I tend to disagree with Republican values in general), Mitt Romney would make the Republican Party a party of decent men and women again, and not a party of rude, brash conspiracy theorists.
The American political system is a goddamned mess right now, and it's been like this since Trumpism, and a lack of morality, has become the norm.
Running for the Republican presidential nomination would be pointless for Sen. Romney unless you and millions of other Americans plan to re-register as Republicans in order to cast primary ballots for him. We’re lucky to have him in the Senate.

I don't always agree with Mr. Romney, but, in this instance, he gave the impression that he was responding honestly, and his words sounded centered and well-considered. Over the last few years, he has impressed me as having a deep sense of personal integrity, and a certain transparency....a fresh calming breeze for these chaotic and nebulous times.

1. He's worked well on issues associated with C-19.
2. He represents America in a very professional manner.
3. He spoke out against the insurrection that happened on 1/6/2021. Slimy politicians are not doing that and calling it a "legitimate political discourse."
4. He is still working on the Infrastructure Bill.
5. He STILL works on tax policies for the middle class.
6. He doesn't see Russia as a ally based on what they are doing to Ukraine.
7. He's living up to a lot of his campaign promises.
The list goes on. I don't have the time to converse.

I disagree with Romney on probably about 90% of things, but he was absolutely right that Russia was the biggest threat (at least in terms of other countries- climate change may be a bigger long-term threat to everyone, and one Romney's politics tend to ignore). To be fair to Obama, most people didn't take him seriously then. But he was right.
Back in 2008, most Americans were worried about Al Qaeda and ISIS. One of Obama’s flaws is that he was overly optimistic, and in 2008, it seemed like Russia MIGHT reform itself, but that turned out to be wishful thinking.
I give Romney points for being more realistic about Russia. I like how Romney refused to gloat, and basically dismissed Obama’s optimism as “politics”. I’m happy that Romney has a limit to how much craziness he will tolerate from the Right. I think Romney voted to impeach Trump over Trump holding $400 million in Ukrainian aid hostage. Another win for Romney!

Zelenksy has won me over as of right now. I haven’t seen such a heroic person in a long, long while. I think he knows he’s already won the most important thing here. Whether he survives to lead his country, or gives his life for his country, he’s shown them there is something worth fighting for. If he dies, he wins anyway, because he’ll be immortalized in the hearts of Ukrainians as their legendary hero. That’ll increase their resolve. Live or die, Zelensky has won already as long as he stays true to his country stands up for them. The most touching underdog story playing out right now.

This is how I remember America from the past, they can agree to disagree, but they will always put America first. The critique is only superficial when it came to Biden. He came out and praised Ukraine, and criticized Putin and Russia. He spoke clearly and made complete sense. He has redeemed his legacy, that is for sure.

I used to think Romney was a bit dim. I don't think that any more. I don't agree with him about many things - but he has shown himself to at least be a man of principle and he was absolutely right about this the whole time.
Along with Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney is the only GOP member for whom I have an inkling of respect. I disagree with both on almost everything political, but they appear to be decent, morally conscious people where it truly counts.
Romney is a decent and good man. I do not always agree with his policies, but I trust him as a higher level human being who speaks a clear conscience.

While I am a progressive with ideology far different than Romney's, I think he is a really admirable politician and one of the smartest Republicans in office and he demonstrates authenticity in his words and actions. He is a good role model and it's sad that so much of his party turned on him in favor of Trump and fascism.
