    Marty- I’ve been learning your tutorials since I was 13 (I’m 26 now) and I just wanted to say thank you for sharing these videos. Playing guitar has literally saved my life at times- it is how I cope with every beautiful and hard thing I go through. I’m about to have my first baby and I am strumming away on this, singing to her while she’s in my belly. You are truly amazing and your tutorials are always so simple yet helpful.

    How genius is Jimmy Page to take some simple chords and riffs and make a great song like this? It seems so simple after the fact like the song was there always, just waiting to be discovered.

    • @kevinharper2884
      @kevinharper2884 3 роки тому +5

      I totally agree 100% Jimmy was the riff master. He had the ones that are a little tough to grasp onto and he has some of the most simple ones that scream cool.

      This is a perfect song for a beginner to get down pat and then add the runs and put in your bends and hammers. Fun fun song and it highlights Jimmy Pages amazing riff writing. Some of them are a little hard to catch into and some like this one is so simple yet no less freaking cool and catchy.

    As some have mentioned, the perfect tuning for this song is A 432 tuned 1/2 step down. It’s not a random screw up from late nights in the studio. It was the standard calibration prior to it being changed to A 440. Aerosmith, Phil Collins, John Lennon and The Arrows are a few other bands that recorded hit songs in 432.

    • @koolkitties8552
      @koolkitties8552 3 роки тому +1

      How do you get 432hz?

    • @desert-storm-borncharlie11
      @desert-storm-borncharlie11 3 роки тому

      @@koolkitties8552 I believe it will be in a/the Tuner, not to be confused with 'a tuna'. I have an old Digitech 2101 that has a digital tuner that allows me to go from I believe, 430h base hertz up to 450h I think.

    Great way to learn here with Marty. I pulled my 3 Ovations Acoustics out of the closet after having them sit there for exactly 30 years. I am now retired and thought if I don't have the time now I never will. Two months later I am getting there. Still sloppy but getting there. Back in the 80's I used to put the records on then go up and down with the needle to the point where I wore the record out. Now with this new technology You Tube has made it so much more simpler. No more driving out for lessons and the cost. I tried this song above and I am tuned normal at 440. When I play the video that was shot in 1995 Jimmy is tuned at 440 as it matched my guitar perfectly. So having not played for so long you tune down a step is that at 338?

    Hey Marty, I've been playing guitar for about 50 years and started playing by ear. I always had a little difficulty hearing some notes and chords, I have to say you've given me a lot of great tips (so far) for those that I couldn't hear. It's great to have someone who can give that to me, although I don't play the club scene anymore, I do play in my makeshift studio for mine and my wife's entertainment and you have improved my technique and style. Thanks for the lessons, please continue posting, your playing style is is much like mine.

      I've always ran into problems hearing "Exactly" what some guitar players are doing in many songs. Especially 70s and 80s music when it's a bad original recording. Lots of my covers are just "my version", which was me playin along to the song as opposed to learning the guitar part Exactly. Hell, I don't think I play a single song correctly. I mostly do originals nowadays anyway.

    @Marty Music, just so you can find the correct tuning for this song: firstly, tune your guitar to 432Hz (A) tuning pattern, then bring it down half a step. It matches perfectly!
