Can you do Unaware by Allen Stone
Where do you click 5 up thumbs ?
Marty, love your stuff. Many around the world do. So much help for us beginners. But, could you do one on "Stars On the Water"? Please ... :)
Hey Marty would this work with the Hootie and the blow fish version I always enjoyed that version as well?.
Does her play it the same way on the 12 string from the no quarter MTV special ?
One of the most underrated Led Zeppelin songs of all time
I love the tune
Ten years gone is another highly underrated song from them
sneakster5000 and the rain song
You got that right brother!
sneakster5000 You guys must not have been around in the 70s when Ten years gone and Hey Hey were on the radio multiple times daily.
Oddly enough this was the first zeppelin song that captivated me and really turned me on to their music. I was 17 years old at a 4th of July party and it came on the radio, pure magic.
In the bars, with the men who play guitars;
Singin', drinkin' and rememberin' the times,
Little Marty does a midnight shift
Who would dislike this???
Greta Van Fleet
ha ha
You
Kurt Cobain
Carl Brown would
Lol
Marty- I’ve been learning your tutorials since I was 13 (I’m 26 now) and I just wanted to say thank you for sharing these videos. Playing guitar has literally saved my life at times- it is how I cope with every beautiful and hard thing I go through. I’m about to have my first baby and I am strumming away on this, singing to her while she’s in my belly. You are truly amazing and your tutorials are always so simple yet helpful.
How genius is Jimmy Page to take some simple chords and riffs and make a great song like this? It seems so simple after the fact like the song was there always, just waiting to be discovered.
I totally agree 100% Jimmy was the riff master. He had the ones that are a little tough to grasp onto and he has some of the most simple ones that scream cool.
Dude that's how I find a lot of songs to be.
dude, you blow me away with all you've taught. thanks so much.
This is a perfect song for a beginner to get down pat and then add the runs and put in your bends and hammers. Fun fun song and it highlights Jimmy Pages amazing riff writing. Some of them are a little hard to catch into and some like this one is so simple yet no less freaking cool and catchy.
Two of the most iconic “heys” in history:
Led Zeppelin, “Black Dog”
Marty
As some have mentioned, the perfect tuning for this song is A 432 tuned 1/2 step down. It’s not a random screw up from late nights in the studio. It was the standard calibration prior to it being changed to A 440. Aerosmith, Phil Collins, John Lennon and The Arrows are a few other bands that recorded hit songs in 432.
How do you get 432hz?
@@koolkitties8552 I believe it will be in a/the Tuner, not to be confused with 'a tuna'. I have an old Digitech 2101 that has a digital tuner that allows me to go from I believe, 430h base hertz up to 450h I think.
Marty! Damn it's you again! Thanks for being around for the last 20 years. Damn fine legacy. I knew the second I seen you for this song I could trust in what's to follow. As odd as it is in this new age, you are a true friend. Always at the ready with another gift to us patrons. Generous of you Marty. Quite generous. I am truly indebted.
“There’s some licks that I’m still gonna show ya” 😂 I love you Marty
Thanks Marty! You always remind me of the songs I've always wanted to learn. Thanks for being a part of my journey.
I spent years trying to figure this out. It makes more sense now that you've explained that JP played it in A but slowed it down 3/4 of a step.
Thanks a bunch, I'm a beginner Guitarists but I was able to learn this (imperfectly).. But fairly well within about two hours of first turning on the video. This song is gold for anyone who wants to learn some really cool blues licks while learning a really kick ass song. Also RIP my index finger it took me a while to learn that opening lick.
Oh my god thank you for all of your videos, I'm twelve and I was invited to play with a local band!!!! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!!
I forget how many good zeppelin songs there are.
Marty the secret to getting to one million is more Led Zeppelin lessons! Haha seriously though!

he had already done it, sorry Marty
Whoops... please accept our apology Marty. Slipped past us.
Do "down by the seaside" next please
My favourite song of theirs
Great song! Great lesson. The genius of Page never ceases to amaze me. The number of songs that he ekes out of the first position is fascinating.
Playing it on my 1931 D-28 Martin Authentic 12 fret. Unbelievable Bass.
You r my idol Mary ur like the uncle I never had💪
Finally, a lesson on this! You can't forget this old classic.
OMG so glad someone did a proper lesson of this under rated song by LZ! And I'm glad it was you, Marty :')
Whenever I search a song title I want to learn and Marty pops up in the results, he’s the first click. Thank you, Marty, you are awesome.
Aye Marty, I can't express how much I appreciate all your time and hard work. I don't have much but I owe you what I can when I can.
With how I live, I can't say you've saved my life. But I'll be damned if you haven't prolonged it.
God bless and may your family have a blessed Easter.

How about some bob Dylan lessons please
Marty, you have taught me stuff I never knew how to play. I've been playing for 30+ yrs. You simplify it so dummies like me can get it! Thanks dude.
That intro was so serene it made feel I could fly great job❤❤
ALL TIME BEST GUITAR TUTOR
one of those riffs that was woven into the fabric of the universe, just waiting to be discovered
Was not on any of the original albums... Ended up as a "B" Side song for the Imigrant Song 45. Wicked Great Tune!! Thanks so much Marty. Made my day
Great way to learn here with Marty. I pulled my 3 Ovations Acoustics out of the closet after having them sit there for exactly 30 years. I am now retired and thought if I don't have the time now I never will. Two months later I am getting there. Still sloppy but getting there. Back in the 80's I used to put the records on then go up and down with the needle to the point where I wore the record out. Now with this new technology You Tube has made it so much more simpler. No more driving out for lessons and the cost. I tried this song above and I am tuned normal at 440. When I play the video that was shot in 1995 Jimmy is tuned at 440 as it matched my guitar perfectly. So having not played for so long you tune down a step is that at 338?
One of zeppelins top songs. Huge thanks Marty!!
This dude is amazing!! I've dedicated almost 5 months to nonstop playing and your channel has helped me tremendously! Thank you so freaking much for putting these videos together!!! Rock on brother!
TheSuperman600 Be sure to taje a break now and then for food and paying bills

AWESOME!! I heard this song for the first time last night and I knew I had to learn it. Great timing Mr. Schwartz
Thanks for the Zeppelin more more any zep. You are really good at the video guitar teacher you are the best I have found on UA-cam.
Love how every song I Google (How do I play ______) you show up. You are awesome dude keep it up.
What's up Mr Marty!. It must be awesome to find your passion and what you were put on this Earth to do. I really appreciate you and you're awesome as a teacher. Guitar saved my life at 52. Harley's drugs guns women the whole nine I put down when I picked up the guitar in prison. I've been playing ever since and you are the best teacher online I believe. I would love to meet you one day keep up the good work my friend.
Thanks for the comment Jimmy!
Hey Marty, I've been playing guitar for about 50 years and started playing by ear. I always had a little difficulty hearing some notes and chords, I have to say you've given me a lot of great tips (so far) for those that I couldn't hear. It's great to have someone who can give that to me, although I don't play the club scene anymore, I do play in my makeshift studio for mine and my wife's entertainment and you have improved my technique and style. Thanks for the lessons, please continue posting, your playing style is is much like mine.
I've always ran into problems hearing "Exactly" what some guitar players are doing in many songs. Especially 70s and 80s music when it's a bad original recording. Lots of my covers are just "my version", which was me playin along to the song as opposed to learning the guitar part Exactly. Hell, I don't think I play a single song correctly. I mostly do originals nowadays anyway.
That is one kick ass lesson.
Thank You! Such an underrated/unknown song. Love it.
you should do some Eagles songs like One of these nights and Life in the fast lane
Thanks Marty, you are the best, it has always been soooo hard to follow Jimmy Page, as he flies over his chords, you have opened up a whole new world for me, thanks bro.
Jeez, i need to stop picking songs with different tunings 😂 but its a great lesson Marty!!!
Yes!!! Can never get enough Zeppelin! Thanks, Marty! 👍🤘

MARTY? Hey....thanks brother! Be cool, catch ya on the rebound!
Thanks Marty this is one of those old tunes that I used to play in my first band about a thousand years ago but for some reason it had just fallen out of my mind. You choose such awesome songs and songs like this is absolutely perfect, it's not overwhelming for a beginner but it's so fun and catchy that it should appeal to everyone.
You are truly the best at what you do:
Always enjoy learning from Marty, always takes his time and breaks it down, I appreciate you
Finally, an understandable lesson. Thank you.

If you can adjust the Hz on your tuner, set A to 432Hz and then put your guitar in 1/2 step below standard
Been watching your videos for years, thanks Marty! Not sure what kind of Taylor that is but man does it sound miraculous.

I purchased your Beginners Blues bundle. I sure wish that you could have focused more
on the strumming hand as much as you do in your UA-cam videos. Still...great stuff
Great tutorial as usual. I'm just commenting to say that your guitar sounds really fantastic. Perfectly tuned. Sounds real warm and bright.
This is literally my most favourite Led Zep song and I have had a bitch of a time learning it. This helped so much, I cannot thank you enough. You are amazing! Learned it at 11 PM.
Great sense of this song's rhythm.
Thanks for everything marty
Marty! Thanks! 🎸 I love what you're doing! And I do bad dad jokes too!
Thank you Marty music
Thanks marty!!! One of my favorite songs. Thought it was killer on guitar! But like mother pink floyd basic cords!! Just shows the greatest can be basic! Thanks buddy!
@Marty Music, just so you can find the correct tuning for this song: firstly, tune your guitar to 432Hz (A) tuning pattern, then bring it down half a step. It matches perfectly!
