Ball Python & Corn Snake Target Training Session (and feeding)

- A target training session featuring my two snakes. I am just getting started with my ball python aka royal python (I waited until she had settled into her new terrarium before starting), while I have already been training my corn snake for a few months at this point. I am curious to see if there will be any difference in the rate at which the animals learn. Target training is a great, stress-free way to interact with your snake and make it become accustomed to you. If you want to learn how to start target training your snake, I recommend checking out Lori Torrini's UA-cam channel, she provides very detailed instructions.

how often do u give your ball python free roam ? I just love her .
I let her roam whenever she wants to get out of the terrarium and I am in the same room as her. Sometimes that can be every evening, sometimes she will choose to stay in her terrarium for 1-2 weeks.

Target training ....must be American . My Ball python and dwarf hybrid boa prefer watching UA-cam . Granted the python has a shorter attention span.
She may not see the target because it's red and they are colourblind. Try blue or green next time.
interesting, I wasn't aware of that! However, shouldn't the shape of the target be sufficient? I'll try a few reps and if she still doesn't react then I might change up the target!
@@CatharticOutlet I think Lori Terrini mentioned this, it's not all snakes. If they can't see the colour they many not see the shape. Let me know how it goes!
@@TH0ltz I see, I should probably revisit her target training videos then and see what she uses for her pythons! Maybe I'll also invest in one of those professional targets instead of the plastic-taped-to-a-stick I am currently using...
