    Thanks for doing the review without the optic, as I too have taken off the optics on my Sig P365XL and S&W Shield Plus 4" with ported barrel. I hated seeing the red dot bouncing around & when I took the red dots off of both of these pistols my accuracy immediately improved. Go figure... Love the Shield Plus Performance Center 4" ported barrel as it shoots with the accuracy of a full size pistol. I equate this to the excellent trigger (4.25 pound trigger pull) which my Sig 365 & 365XL don't have, but I shoot them pretty good too.

    I’ve come full circle ⭕️ with red dots on pistols. I’m with Hickok, I like my trijicon rmr on my 34. It’s fun to shoot especially at distance. I retired the optic on my carry gun, as I get older maybe I’ll need mine too. For now, I’ll be sticking with a nice set of night sights on my handguns.

      @robertkwiatkoski1292 2 роки тому

      for the "smaller" carry guns I think night sights and a grip activated lazer is what I'm going to be looking for. Pocket carry or belly gun. Slim summer carry. From there as Hickock 45 often says your stepping up. I know at my present set of abilities I won't be snipping a hostage taker.

    Another great video! We ALL have at least 2 pistols that need an advanced degree from MIT to break down. So, I " feel your pain." I spent the day here at deer camp . I started the morning in my nice cozy blind, with my nice Mr Buddy heater and my little LP camp oven to heat up my food and coffee. I was a happy camper.... until the day started and I spent most of the day hauling in deer with the kids, watching as they field dressed their first deer, and helping our club VP track a 9 pointer that was dead when he was hit but didn't know it. He ran 250 yards into the thickest briars and thorns that he could possibly find as his last act of revenge. Of course, the wonderful feeling of getting shredded to pieces as we were extricating him makes me realize that we need to bring extra blood plasma with us next year. But, as always, it's deer camp so even the worst of times becomes the stuff legends are made of as each year passes and the stories are embellished. Well, I need to get going. My 45-70 needs cleaned and dried. I need to find dry clothes and Neighbor Ned is tending bar in the lodge and we need to make sure he doesn't try to make flaming martinis again.

    When I first bought my Kimber Mako I had difficulty breaking it down after following the instructions. Then I stumbled on a full proof way of doing it and it has been clear sailing ever since. First step. Unload the weapon dropping the magazine and clearing the chamber. Second step. Very lightly pull the slide back while at the same time pulling down the breakdown tabs until they click. Third step. Pull the trigger. Fourth step. Hold onto the slide and barely push it forward and it will come right off. Let me know how that works out for you.

Manufacturers have always put out wacky oddball items that are too big, too heavy, or looks- like-a-Hi-Point-but-its-a-Kimber models in order to appeal to the oddballs among us. Maybe its a great idea, but really its too heavy, thick, bigger and lower capacity for more money than its competitors. Its not gonna compete loose the shroud:, takenoff 3 ounces and add 3 more rounds and maybe with that great trigger it'll be a winner!

    Right after my initial comment a year ago, I noticed a tendency for the weapon to double-tap on its own, and had some surprise firings when re-acquiring targets. I was just about to write Kimber about it when I got the recall notice concerning the firing-pin issue. Sent it back, waited a couple of decades for the fix. Finally got the weapon back. Yes, the problem was fixed. Trigger still good, but not quite so impressive. I found that with some less-expensive range ammunition (that my other pistols eat just fine) I started getting some failure-to-feed and failure-to-eject issues. That, coupled with the take-down difficulty and the aggressive grip texture that abraded my wife's palms after about 50 rounds at the range made me holler "Uncle" and trade it in on a 365 XL for my wife. This pistol was like a great first date that tells you she wants to just be friends. Okay, I won't take you to the prom.

      @Gopnik Boris It's $600 for optics ready and $800 for optics installed. I took mine down in seconds w/o even looking at the manual. I know several other people that own this firearm and not of us have had a single issue with it.

    I'm glad to hear your bias on optics. Thanks for the review. Yep it's a Kimber and it comes with optics so that people with failing eye sight can have an easier time hitting the target. Hey you've been blessed with 20/20 so thanks for the review.

      @@hickok45 I don't know about everyone else but, after getting my welding degree and doing a number of welding jobs my personal eye sight is failing and shooting is that one thing that has got me through the tough times and now I'm thinking about getting my eyes worked on. Until then I'm going to have to use every advantage possible. Maybe try shooting the optic without glasses 🤓

    The r7 is my carry gun. It's been great so far. It shoots as well as some of my full sizes. Price wise I got it for 450 without optic and bought tg3 ct1500 for 100. The only real difference is the optic ready comes with a moa5 and the one I bought is moa2. Which I like better
