Kimber R7 Mako Gun Review

- Опубліковано 6 сер 2024
- The New Kimber R7 Mako is a Polymer Framed, Striker Fired Pistol with 11/ 13 +1 Magazine capacity. Crimson Trace CT-1500 Red Dot option co-witnesses with the Truglo Tritium U Notch Sights. The Flat Faced Trigger is one of the best I've seen on a striker fired pistol. Thanks to Kimber for their help and to Fiocchi for sponsoring the ammunition. #KimberR7Mako #Micro9 #Kimber

Re-Upload because UA-cam is being UA-cam.
I'll rewatch just because of that
@@aaronporter2180 exactly, me too ;-)
I just checked, here in Poland where I live,
the previously uploaded film is available.
So yt hasn't got here yet ;-)
I would love to watch it again anyway
As always gun haters
UA-cam sucks.
R7 is awesome I own 2. Bundle packs were 5 mags each. Great deal.
JP precision makes a plate for a Holosun 507k.
68 yr old and today i picked up my Mako to join the ranks. This is the one I wanted and I can't wait to get to the range.I subbed.
Now a 15+1 magazine is available.
I collect Pistols in many Brands and Kimber is one of them. Just bought one.. Love it
Kimber never ceases to amaze me! I bought their first revolver, the 357 R6s, incredible gun
The CC market is flooded with one upmanship pistols coming out every week. This pistol looks like it's tough to beat!
As always, great review!
I recently purchased this Micro 9 and I already love the way it fires and I too love all the features you pointed out.
Awesome video. This is the best and most informative I have seen yet on this new gun.
thank you sootchoo for the kimber r7 handgun video!!!
Available in my local gun shops now. I'm excited.
I like my Kimber Custom II. What a hell of a Gun.
Excellent review. Many thanks.
Very good video Sootch! Just wanted to add something I did to mine, on the bottom front side of the 13rd mag I stimpled
It where it’s smooth. It sure helps the pinky finger get a good grip.
Very cool. Nice review. Thank you. Looks like a micro version of the BB6. Numerous distinct features of Wilhelm Bubits' designs are seen here. The hooded ejection port, rear locking lug, internal ejector, the take down mechanism, the trigger mechanism, no exposed slots on the bottom of the slide or rear cover, the magazine retention tab, ambidextrous safety, and more are all seen in the BB6. Even the pin placements look virtually identical. Looks like an excellent execution by Kimber.
A video comparison of all micro 9 would be great! Amazing time we live in.
He'd better dress as Watson and be ready for a long discourse.
Welcome to the Micro-nine Club, Kimber!!
*Polymer double stack micro 9. They've had the micro 9 for a while
380 here. I let my wife have the 9
@@mr.butt-head.5108 your wife shoots 9mm and you a 380, what's up with that
A very detailed review sir. Thank you.
Really got me interested, thanks.
I hope these will be in the stores by Christmas. They look good.
THX SOOTCH00!!! Wife looking at this Pistol
Always Great Review
Nice review thanks.
Another great video, Thanks! 😀

Great review! Reminds me of my Walther PPS M2
Excellent review
I went to buy a carry gun and had the Sig 365 in my hand and out of the corner of my eye I saw the Mako it came with 5 mags a Kydex holster and range bag on sale for the same price. I was hesitant at first because of all the research and reviews I did. I picked the Mako grabbed a couple boxes of ammo and went to range. I fell in love with it. I have probably put 1000 rounds though it no issues and although I have Holuson on all my other guns the Crimson Trace is pretty darn good red dot for being under $150.
I just purchased / ordered one today
First thing I did when I got the gun home was to throw that cheapo red dot in the parts bin. The gun it self is great.
Hopefully better quality control in Alabama than in New York.
I loved my Kimbers and wish I could disagree with you but.. All 3 spent time back at the factory. My Ultra 45 shot 7 inches low at 7 yards straight out of the box, my Micro 9 the front sight fell of on the first shot and it had to have a whole new slide. My Micro 380 needed complete new internals after being my carry gun for 2 years.. it is the only 1 still have.
shut up, my both my ny kimbers flawless performers
We can hope. #1 gun among my friends that went back to the factory was kimbers and Sig, CZ, Glock, S&W, and Berrettas are their favorites.
Springfield 1911s with high round counts too. But the Springfields are all at > 18,000 rounds. Not the Kimbers
@@External2737 this sounds like bs but ok👌
@@mia1shooter Call it what you want. I think in 2015 Kimber had major quality control issues. Every gun maker has issues, in particular new designs. E.g., A friend was on a Sheriff department who rejected 1st year Gen 4 Glock 19s. They had malfunctions in trials. Note: Gen 5 passed. No issues until they broke 12,000 rounds.
You do not learn about reliability from people who only shoot a few boxes. My friends racked and I up round counts when ammo was cheap.
Seriously, how many guns have you fired over ten thousand rounds through? How many tens of thousands of rounds are through your favorite gun? I'm at 28,000 through my favorite Sig, broke 10,000 in 3 other guns (multiple brands).
I have safe queens too.
I just watched the same review of this firearm with Hickok 45. He stated the take down of this pistol was hard to accomplish. That's not what I just saw with Sootch
I did too.
I hate this style of takedown
Hickok 45 is old...LoL
I can’t watch a Hickok vid without falling asleep. During the work week, I put his vids in the background around bedtime 😴
He sure can shoot though, man's a dead eye!
Thank you for the video
Thanks Brother!
Love your video
Another great review! Why were you concerned about the side ejection port. There are many guns like that. Including my legendary Browning Hi-Power, which is utterly reliable, and surgically accurate!👊😎🇺🇲🇺🇲
Sharp looking weapon!!
Sootch you are the best gun host on UA-cam good job keep the videos coming
Sootch, that pic of the shark near the start was a sand tiger, not a mako.
Love this pistol best purchase
I see the shark experts are on you tube today.
I slept at Holiday Inn last nite that makes me a expert, lol!
I just did pick up the Kimber range pack one 11 round magazine four 13 round magazines. The weird thing every magazine is stamped 10 rounds. The flush mag holds 11 the extended one holds 13. But yes, they are all stamped 10 rounds only have witness holes for 10 rounds. Weird.
As quiet as he keeps it, Sootch00 is a firearms EXPERT! But shhh we can't let that out. 😎

Love your reviews. Bought several products based on your review. Keep up the good work. Could you compare the HK VP9sk to the Kimber R7 Mako? I know they are both great guns. Would like to get your thoughts.
Great job on your videos. Keep up the good work love the out takes at the end.
Love the review, very complete
Great review! I love this “revolution” of micro 9s. Although it’s one round over NY stupid capacity law I’d love to get one. (With 10rd mag of coarse )
Not sold in NY state?
@@Deuce_Allan I’d assume they could “pin” the mag at 10rnds.
@@benjamminreviews_ben ,
For me,,.....would like to see a manual thumb safety version......some of the competition offer this option.
hmmm something to look forward too having
There is a recall on these now. I had to send mine to KImber.
What problem are you having or is happening ?Please tell I just purchased one. Thanks
Damnit, now I have to have it. Trigger looks amazing
I like the slide, the reason I don't own a red dot is that the open slide blowback gits grit on your optics.
Fantastic. Looks excellent. My daughter just picked up the Ruger Max 9. So far it is great. But I definitely want to give this a look for my wife. Thank you.
My Wife looking at it also. Let me know what you find out Friend please.
@@michaelhoward5532 My wife opted to take my Shield 45 over extra shots.
Another daughter just bought a Beretta APX a1 Compact over all the micro guns out there. She doesn't care for small grip and "snappy" recoil. Her favorite of my handguns is an M&P40C 1.0. Even in the 40 she preferred shooting it over all of our Shields(9, 40, 45) & Max9.
Looks like a great pistol. Great review.
God bless all here.
Has that Hi Point kinda look. At least you got the Mako on your side
Great video, but you showed a Sand Tiger Shark, in reference to the Mako
That's pretty nice little gun though I love my Hellcat don't keep using it though and also what is that floating thing you're using you said it so fast I couldn't quite understand I'd like to get one for myself
If this is what you like. Another little black pistol. I would definitely go for the SIG 365 over this Kimber or Hellcat . Just nothing to write home about. But great review 👍
Not really. That side ejection port is big for people who want optics. Also if the trigger is as good as he says that’s another selling point
It seems to have a huge slide. Have a wonderful day Mr.
Note at time stamp 2:13 the magazine is stamped 10 rounds. Purchased one of these pistols recently and am pleased but have seen the magazines to be of capacity one less than advertised. 10 and 12 rounds seen. Usually load to one less than capacity so I may now really have a 9+1 and a 11+1 pistol. Have ordered a 13 round extra mag and will compare it's "true" capacity. Anyone else see this?
Looks sweet.
I gotta try that lil kimber
I bought that red dot for my Hellcat. And mine is not a "shake and wake". It's always on, and automatically adjusts brightness.
I shoot left handed & the shrouded ejection port is of particular interest to me. I own several pistols that throw the spent casing back towards my face. I’ve had hot brass go down the collar of my shirt. Funny for onlookers, but not the shooter! Anyway does the shrouded port effectively direct the brass perpendicular to the firearm as it appears in the videos I’ve watched? If yes, that’s a huge plus for us southpaws…
I can say it does not like 147 grain ammo. It will not eject the casing well if at all. And the casing eject striagh to the side from what I have seen in my experience
Just ordered mine’ yeah
Oh 677 optics installed from kygunco
Great Review as always. Love this sootch's all review. Can someone here please tell me what size Torque Screwdriver Head I need to attach CTS-1550 to my Newly Purchased Kimber r7 Make?
Just bought one , still unsure it's not my typical Kimber but I do like it
Are you able to get 11 rounds in the flush magazine? I've not been able to fit 11 rounds in it yet
I want one
Awesome
This is a huge improvement for Kimber. I’m sure they’ll sell a lot of them if they don’t have problems. This pistol actually seems to work! But the small ejection port and the limited choices for red dots could be a problem. I’d like to put a Trijicon RMR CC on it and I’d like a bigger ejection port to avoid malfunctions if I decide to shoot it left handed. I don’t have a lot of confidence in the durability of the crimson trace optic and it’s not adjustable.
I for one would never red dot my self defense carry gun.
i want one but unfortunately i live in a state that bans high capacity magazines.
Looks like a very good made gun and the prices are insanely good right now on these.
Nice review I hope that this Kimber isn’t too fussy about ammo like the others that they built
U can buy any poorly made gun for that. I prefer the confidence I have when I trust my life to a quality piece like the Kimber.
I have a CDP 1911 that has never eaten anything but my reloads and has NEVER malfunctioned.
This video is about Fiocchi round nose FMJ.
Do you have for the near future a review on the Mossberg MC2sc?
Awesome video 💯👍🏻❤️🇸🇪🙋🏼♂️🐻🦅🇺🇲
How much ammo exactly did you shoot through it you just said shot quite a bit of ammo
Trigger pull looks great but would like to see one Glock 19 size.
great review , Sootch knows his guns > just not his sharks 😂 the shark pictured isn’t a Mako , 😂 I am thinking about a Mako , the Kimber that is , ok , this video is 2+ years ago ,
It's the best looking compact 9mm in its class, jmo.
Love to see an accuracy test comparing this Kimber and say a Shield after 1200 rounds.
I'd like to see an intelligent Trump voter.
Still looking...

That's a shooter I like the look of the pistol would love to shoot one
I can't find a way to disassembly mine!
Beautiful beautiful 💥😎
That's neat
If you shoot with ur left hand ur right support hands gonna block that ejection port is it not ? Seems like a dumb set up idk 🤷🏻♂️
Is this a better carry pistol than the Micro 9?
If Kimber….and Glock….made a squirt gun, they’d sell a million of them regardless of the price….
Must be a reason for it.
That better be a damn powerful squirt gun
Hey Sootch!
Good morning Skeeter!
How hard is the slide to rack it. My wife has a problem with racking them.
Would this pass a hammer test compared to a sig p320?
Which do you prefer: This Kimber R7 Mako or the S&W Performance Center Shield Plus? I'm trying to decide. Thanks.
Shield plus without a doubt !!!
Nah, Kimber any day.
You referred to the ejection port location as a positive, but others are reporting this could interfere with left handed shooters. Can you have a lefty shoot a few mags and let us know if they have any issues please.
There are videos with this being an issue.
@@DLK262 looks a no go for me then. Just not worth the risk when my XL has been flawless.
@@mattkatz1046 I’m torn between the XL,43x,shield plus. I have a single stack XDS but I’m looking to upgrade and give it to my wife. My brother in law just had his firing pin break on him at the range with his 365. Needless to say he was not happy.
@@DLK262 I have both the XL and the Shield Plus 😄
I don’t think you can go wrong with either. The plus is annoying because I’ve had it over 3 months, and still no extra mags for sale. But both are excellent
Next on Forgotten Weapons
I love how the beginning shows a Tiger Shark and not a Mako Shark lol I still love Sootch though!
The photo is not of a Tiger shark. It is a Sand shark.
@@MDpolo Thank you! I was obsessed with sharks as a kid, knew instantly that ain't no mako Sootch lol
The R7 doesn't get the optic dirty like the Shield Plus, P365 and the Hellcat does because of the loaded chamber indicator on top of the gun
if you're using an optic on a cc gun, you lack intelligence.
When is it available to us?
Who makes the mags? Hopefully not Kimber. Does anyone make an aftermarket mag yet? How about sights?
Wow 🤩 a Kimber without a MIM frame!
Hi-Point style ejection port
Yep. First thing I noticed as the video was beginning.
Cool weapon would trust on range for fun probably not cc tho
Why?
Used too be a kimber fanboy since before it was a thing too be a kimber fanboy but they have seriously lost their lust for quality control in the past 15 yrs and I just don’t get excited about anything they do anymore. I still have my old ones but the new ones I do have they don’t get any use and will likely eventually get re homed Probably the only thing I do think they still do well is some of the rifles and their new revolvers are ok although most seem very heavy for a carry pistol maybe the longer barrel options would be ok for match shooting or hunting 🤷♂️in the long run if it’s newer than 15 yrs old and has the kimber name I’m just not sold anymore maybe they will pull something out their butt with some new polymer guns
Just got this gun. I have to say, I much prefer this gun to the Shield
