The deadpan lie to Riker in The Most Toys is my absolute favorite Data moment. Both his decision to kill Fajo and his subsequent lie show that Data is a lot more human than he ever gets credit for.

The Most Toys (the episode where Data is kidnapped) is an extremely underrated TNG episode and possibly the best Data-centric episode ever made. Everyone should see it. Phantasms (the Troi cake episode) is extremely weird and terrifying, and presents disturbing implications about Data's psyche. While it's not a great TNG or even Star Trek episode by any means, I still highly recommend it purely for how bizarre it is.
Okay, #8 is not anymore awful than anyone else having children. Why does Data have to ask for permission to have a child? No one else has to? I know Data is an Automaton, but does he not have autonomy?

I have to agree that torturing Geordie is the worst thing Data has done. I watched Descent a few nights ago, trying to understand if Data could be excused for his bad behaviour. I realise he had his ethical chip deactivated, but that's no excuse for torturing and almost killing his best friend. And the way the incident was handled was so unprofessional. Data took Picard, Troi and Geordie hostage, almost killed the person who has been nothing but kind to him, not to mention collaborated with the Borg, and he didn't get into any trouble. Picard didn't take Data back to Starfleet Command to answer for charges. He didn't even take Data to the nearest starbase for an overhaul. Data just said sorry, went back to work, and Geordie forgave him. That said, I really like Data... when he's working properly.
