Most over rated off the series. I don't say that to mean it's a terrible game, as it isn't, but it really isn't as strong an entry as most of the others. I would guess the quality of life improvements mentioned and the story gimmick has lead to it's over inflation, but I will wholeheartedly be happy for people who really enjoy it.
What century are they going to to release this properly in the west on PS4 or PS5 for Us. Please get back to me. I love the heroes really do. But I want the old fashioned way release if this game especially and they will get great satisfaction
Ryan Navin There was a PS2 REMAKE of DQ5 with full orchestration and new models released only in Japan, however I’m pretty sure that an English fan patch for it exists somewhere. There is a pre patched ISO of it too, but that’s a little more shaky to recommend on a legal or moral ground depending on your views on piracy. DQ4 had a PS1 remake that looked exactly like the DS version. The only remake worth it in my opinion (other than the DS versions) is the PS2 remake of 5.
Cool . Im playing DQ 7 at the moment on 3ds. Then I will finally play 9 I guess I have had it for years but never played it for the reason I have so many game son back log still need to play FF 15 as well. I hope the Switch version of 11 is like the ps4 version because I do not have a ps4 nor do I plan on getting one any time soon. Oh and I have lotsa ISOs just played the remakes of Phantasy Star 1 and 2 on it.
Ryan Navin Just a side note, pretty sure there’s a video tutorial of how to get “self made” ps2 discs on a ps2. What id probably recommend is soft modding your ps2, obtaining the Japanese version of DQ5, and insert the patch into the game while its running using Homebrew software. Don’t exactly remember the whole process.
I have a tiny silver slim ps2 don't know how to mod as ive never modded any of my systems. The closest thing to modding ive done is buying the PS2 HDD with FF11 back when I had a fat ps2. Played ff11 on pc and ps2 for about 4 years.
Ryan Navin then honestly I wouldn’t be against emulation. Emulation itself is legal, just make sure you obtain the actual copy of DQ5 on eBay (it’s actually reasonably cheap) and then rip the disc to your computer, then patch that disc image with the patch. ...but I also understand that the pre patched disc is still a possibility, and is probably only a few google searches away. Only mentioning this for completion’s sake, but downloading ps2 games you don’t own, patched or not, is done at one’s own risk.
The visuals are more appealing too, imo. There something charming about the look of early SNES/Super Famicom games. The DS games also look really ugly and samey with their PS1-Era 3D-Environments.
Akira Toriyama's work was what introduced me to anime and manga, but holy sheet the guy doesn't know the meaning of ''Art evolution''. Is that Android 18 in the bottom right? lol. He recycles his characters too much for every single thing he is involved into.

This monster taming stuff sounds a lot like Shin Megami Tensei, I gotta check it out
Awesome video series!
what game is that at 7:09? I'm sure I've played it I just can't remember what it was, oh and great videos love rewatching the dq retrospective series
Thats Evolution Worlds! Originally for the Dreamcast I think but ported to the Gamecube, where I played it as one of my first games for the system lol. Charming characters n stuff but gahdamn the dungeons were boring af
Was it before SMT?
Nope! Megami Tensei had monster taming long before.
That’s what I figured
3:07 what about Shin Megami Tensei?
How do you tame monsters in this game dumb question
Get the wagon, beat the recruitable monster last and there will be a chance they will join you
LOL. Great opening.
SNES. 8.5/10
DS 9/10
12:25 this is just for me
It the best joke
Most over rated off the series. I don't say that to mean it's a terrible game, as it isn't, but it really isn't as strong an entry as most of the others. I would guess the quality of life improvements mentioned and the story gimmick has lead to it's over inflation, but I will wholeheartedly be happy for people who really enjoy it.
What century are they going to to release this properly in the west on PS4 or PS5 for Us. Please get back to me. I love the heroes really do. But I want the old fashioned way release if this game especially and they will get great satisfaction
I would love the PS2 version of this game to make it to the West in some way, but hey, at least we're getting a really snazzy movie about it soon!
Wait you can get these on ps2? I have them for DS.
Are ya gonna do dq 11
we get it, you didn't grow up with a nes or snes.
The terrible localization and puns are a reason to play the original versions - or the fan translated version of the PS2 DQV.
The visuals are more appealing too, imo. There something charming about the look of early SNES/Super Famicom games. The DS games also look really ugly and samey with their PS1-Era 3D-Environments.
Oh my god.. Is that a JOJO reference?
Akira Toriyama's work was what introduced me to anime and manga, but holy sheet the guy doesn't know the meaning of ''Art evolution''. Is that Android 18 in the bottom right? lol. He recycles his characters too much for every single thing he is involved into.

And then about a month Later shin megami did it.
And 5 years before Megami Tensei did it. There were other games to do it before as well, but the original Megaten in 1987 is what put it on the map.
Huh this dragon quest 5 is one of the best game? Well i better get it...... oh wait it costs more then 100€ f this!
The DS Remake runs about 25 USD on amazon. Play that one!
is 3d???????????'
