Thank you for explaining this, snd the right terms to use, as it sounds very similar to what is happening (intermittently) with my 2016 Golf. The problem is, when it happens, there is a loss of power (engine still runs) and loss of steering as the Golf 'thinks' the engine is off. You make great videos, good plain speaking which is helpful for those of us who only know how to top up the water, and check the oil.
So my car has a problem where the clutch pedal sticks half way down and I’m unable to change gear till I use my foot to pull the pedal back up to them push back down to change gear is this the cylinder that’s causing the problem
Hi there, that sounds annoying. Could be a few different issues. If your car runs a hydraulic system, I would suggest starting with a bleed of the system.
@aussietunedandenong5736 hi thank you for answering ...when you say bleed of the sistem? Do you mean brake fluid reservoir? Or is there another sistem that needs bleeding?
Hi.when you replace the clutch master do you need to remove the spring from the clutch pedal or can you leave the spring in place and install the master cylinder?

Hi there, we leave the spring in place.
I asked a diesel mechanic whats involved in replacing a slave cilinder?
He told me the gearbox has to come out
I think i have that problem
Thanks man my pedal feels like this and I’ve always wondered why.
The cylinder at the pedal is the master cylinder not the slave
Yes, you are correct.
I had to weld/extended some fuel line pliers so that i could squeeze the clip on vw slave cylinders in situ.
Seat Leon's and Audi A3's have the same rubbish plastic part too!
