I took away quite a few things, but mostly: that I’m on the right track =) For instance I was just hired to shoot a music video. I clearly communicated that I’m confident in my creative and technical abilities to deliver a decent video and that I’m excited to do it, but that I’ve never actually made a music video before and that therefore I would charge only a modest price. Client was cool with it and we’ve finished most pre production and shot the first scene. And if I manage to knock it out of the park, I’m sure the client will want to work with me again in the future, which I think would be great for both of us. I have been frustrated in the past when I saw people who were clearly less skilled than me at something, but confidently overcharged and got away with that. They were faking it (and I did nothing except be angry about it).
