Hi again....I can only see hgv and psv in relation to having a transport manager for EU driving, does a light commercial 3.5t operating from uk into Europe every few weeks need an external transport manager or can I continue been my own transport manager ie keeping a log, addressing defects, drivers hours etc etc....basically showing competence running one vehicle...I’m happy to pay for knowledge via training I’m Leeds based and really want to start getting organised....will the keeping of records and acting in similar manner to hgv drivers count towards been granted permission to keep going as I am or do I need to be getting trained to pass an exam? Totally confused been honest as everything I find out is from people who do not officially know it’s all ‘ my mate says this and another mate says that’ type thing

Hi Carl, sorry for such a late reply to your comment. As per the video the Operator Licencing scheme was amended as of May this year (2022) to now include light goods vehicles between 2.5 tonne and up to and including 3.5 tonne. If you have a vehicle of this size that you use internationally for hire and reward then you will be required to obtain a Standard International Operator Licence and therefor you will require a qualified Transport Manager in place. Again as per the video there is a grace period but you will need to ascertain whether you fall in to this criteria and the Traffic Commissioner for your traffic area would need to be notified of such. If you wish to continue as Transport Manager after this point then yes you would be required to pass the relevant exams and gain the qualification which we could definitely help you with :) just give the office a call to discuss your options or head over to www.enterprisetransporttraining.com

Hi, I am operating in the uk and Europe, I have the o license and I am my manager but I’ll be honest I’m a bit in the dark with it all and need some advice....I started a logbook on last trip to Spain although the logbook I got online does not mention mileages bizarrely but I did jot down drivers hours and breaks, noted the two new tyres fitted in Spain, no defects to report etc
Can you possibly guide me to advice? I’m concerned about the transport manager issue in 2 years time as no way can I afford that I’m a one man and a van so is passing the exam my only option? ....as you can see I’m struggling....cheers

So Brexit has increased paperwork, expenses, all the things it was meant to be reducing?

Hi Adam, unfortunately Brexit has complicated the issue on many things transport related.
