Demonstration, but anyway viktor is kinda useless against golem as it has high pdef, I mean his magic damage is higher than his physical attack when crit and under anger buff.
@@alkristopher play with whoever you want I did a flying squirrel beast rune clear once Eilie has decent magic and physical so she isn't just sitting there doing nothing outside of boss fights I can completely understand taking her instead of someone like Luc
@@alkristophernah, unless I'm specifically fighting boss immediately, I'm not bringing Luc or any mage with no attack. Ellie is decent fighter that can do both.

Oh this is great, the original soundtrack is untouched. Definitely liking the new interface and the spell work looks better than ever, not to mention smooth as silk. Thanks for uploading this. Can't wait to see if they fix the audio issue with army battles that was present in the original.
The no music bug was only present in the North American release, same as the McDohl name bug. A bunch of bugs that were present in the North American version were fixed in the European release. They shouldn't be an issue in the remaster.
@@CulganValyaIndeed, the no audio thing was a hot mess in the North American version, it was clearly rushed to production for some odd reason. You're right though, all of the issues should be gone in the remaster. I'm just glad the soundtracks are untouched because they were and are amazing. Suikoden II had some of the best town music. Especially the Tinto theme, Withered Earth. Such a catchy earworm. Can't wait to get this bundle, I got physical copies, one for each of my consoles, pre-ordered at my local GameStop. These games are just that damn good.

Suikoden 2 is outrageously expensive, and has been for a long time. I hope you enjoy Suikoden 2 as much as the res tof us did when you finally get to play it!

Damn it. This Golem has the same HP (7500) as in the original, that is, it will be necessary to wait mod or edit the HP of each boss manually. I particularly liked everything that was shown. I hope the Window Sets turned out good too.
There's still a possibility they may announce a difficulty option. We're still 5 months away for release. They could be saving some announcements for a little closer to release to keep the hype going.
The original version of Suikoden 2 had a bunch of content that was cut from the game as they ran out of development time. There was a secret endgame dungeon, a new game plus mode, a bath set item, a weapon rune called the solitude rune, and a chimera enemy in Tenzan Pass that dropped Cyclone Runes. They were all cut from the final release of the game, but they were still in the game files and accessible through the use of gameshark codes.

@@CulganValya That will be conditional. Konami will only be interested in continuing the Suikoden series if there is a financial incentive to do so. A lot of people missed this game the first time around. That's why they should be tailoring the game to a broader audience. It was always an easy game but that's part of its charm. Everybody can enjoy it. If there was a new game plus, on the other hand, with a much harder series of conditions for making it through the game, I'm all for it!
It's possible that there may only be a remaster. While Suikoden I & II show promise for a remake, Konami hasn't followed through. Suikoden III and IV weren't very well-received, and although Suikoden V is of good quality, its sales were not well.

Looks and sounds fantastic! I think they could make the Rune chime a little more pronounced and impactful though. And the water droplet sound as part of the spell could be more striking too. Otherwise, fantastic job all round!
I only hope they will do something about the level of S1 characters max level who became 60 in S2... Since they were more than 40, they all needed around 8k fights each to reach max level again. 😢

Was looking for an atb type rpg to play that i haven't yet. Came across suikoden and happens to be a remaster in the works, so i'm pretty stoked. But i hope you can turn off that "confirm" sound, that's going to get annoying real fast i'm afraid. Any vets around know if you can?
In the original game, there's a volume slider in the menu. Each game also had a recruitable phonologist, an npc that allowed you to change the sound effects, but this required giving them "Sound Setting" items that you find throughout the game.
I like the spells update but I wish they wouldn’t have sped it up so much Like Kahn’s scolding you literally have to pause in order to read it because it happens in a flash The animation in S2 imo was just right not too long or too short This one seems like fast forwarded

This issue seriously bothers me and is basically the reason I'm not buying this. It just doesn't look good with the original sprites overlaid on new backgrounds. I'd rather just have a straight port of the original graphics in widescreen.

I have my copium on that difficulty modes are implemented without announcement. I want to dive deep into the gameplay now that I grow and understand the game systems but I don't want to oneshot bosses in one turn!

Those attack animations are sped-up compared to the original? As a newcomer, they look pretty long already for having to sit through 6 of them in a row....
I thought they would swap the names of Explosion and Dancing Flames as the visuals don't match the names., not sure the original JP names though.. And that "Anger" status name kinda bug me., I think "Fury"., "Rage"., or something sounds better imo.. The sfx and soundtracks are really nice.. Oh., and the magics become more simple visual wise., I kinda prefer the flashier ones like the originals..
Guess the faster speeds of the spells and unites is a consequence of optimizing the same animations for stronger hardware. They may have to purposely slow it down to match the slowdown in the original games. A 50% reduction applied to these spells matches the slowdown of the originals almost exactly, give or take a bit depending on the spell being cast. That's compared to the original PSX release, of course. The PSP version handled slowdown better, so spells were faster on it.
Slow? It took less than a minute, and that's only because all characters were using runes. You'll have the option of doubling or quadrupling the battle speed if you want it even faster.
Just restrict yourself from double beat rune , boost rune and power rune it should be ok. But yes the dev need to up their game about suiko power scaling

Nah IV was alright, it was III that was the hard one when come unprepared, not setting up skills for the party and once you die, you go back to the save point.
It was just a developer showcase to show off spells. Plus, some people don't pick characters based on stats, but rather how much they like the character.
Final bell, shredding, thor shot look worse. They dont look bad, but the original ones just looked way better imo. Outside some spells, everything else looks good.
@@headbangerbald1278 There should be volume sliders in the options menu like in the originals. Plus we'll have Melodye and Connolly that we can bring sound settings to to change the sounds.
They haven't said anything about difficulty options yet. It's possible they may be included, as they do appear to be listening to fan feedback. But as of now, there's no official announcement.

@@CulganValya yes. it's more likely spell showcase. maybe they use them so the boss looks a bit more hard too, so it poses some challenge. i mean it won't be interesting to watch if the boss is down in a turn. and it seems that their weapon also doesn't get upgraded.
Im not a fan and my opinion is: that menu sfx is so disturbing, specially knowing it will come up at least 12 times per turn... there are too many white screens. Yeah, japan loved to do those in that time (square enix still does up to this day). White flashes are known to lightly burn your retines over time. So, yeah, youre gonna need thicker glasses lens after playing years of games like these. Although the graphics are good, because of these factors my answer is no.

The menu select sounds are earbleedingly bad
A lot of people are hating the menu select sound. The constant click sound is going to very quickly get on peoples nerves. It needs to be changed.
You can change the sounds in-game in the og game but idk if they will add that feature in the Remaster

Glad to see the spells are still quick, but impactful looking. Biggest flaw of 3 was just how long the spell animations took.

I actually think the runes look worse, but I appreciate them being sped up a bit. Sound effects are also worse. Still I'm very hyped to play this.
I think alot of it looks generic and like a basic cell phone game. Old pixel art runes were incredible

The Golem has very high Physical Defense to be fair. So Viktor isn't doing a whole lot to it either way.
I like the new UI but the selection noise is atrociously loud. People won't stand it for too long.
Hopefully options can fox that, it reminds me of the text box chatter in sea of stars, I turned it right down so I barely heard it lol

If you mean the Matilda Gate glitch, that was fixed in the 2005 PSP port of I & II. It's likely fixed for the remaster also.

Enemies got massive improvement with their meshes and texture yet our characters do not, kinda like ff8 remastered.

That was fixed in the PSP ports of the games, and the remasters is built using the PSP versions as a foundation. It should be fixed.

This issue seriously bothers me and is basically the reason I'm not buying this. It just doesn't look good with the original sprites overlaid on new backgrounds. I'd rather just have a straight port of the original graphics in widescreen.

I have my copium on that difficulty modes are implemented without announcement. I want to dive deep into the gameplay now that I grow and understand the game systems but I don't want to oneshot bosses in one turn!
There's still 5 months to go until release. They may be saving some announcements for a later date. Difficulty modes seems to be a big request, so fingers crossed.
No fast forward or skip battle animation?
This should be prohibited, especially in a game like this where all battles are absurdly fast. Normal battles end in 1 turn.
How is Sierra using the Soul Eater Rune?
She's using the Darkness Rune. It's a child rune of the Soul Eater so they share some spells.

Those attack animations are sped-up compared to the original? As a newcomer, they look pretty long already for having to sit through 6 of them in a row....
You can increase battle speed by 2x or 4x if you find the animations too long.

I thought they would swap the names of Explosion and Dancing Flames as the visuals don't match the names., not sure the original JP names though.. And that "Anger" status name kinda bug me., I think "Fury"., "Rage"., or something sounds better imo.. The sfx and soundtracks are really nice.. Oh., and the magics become more simple visual wise., I kinda prefer the flashier ones like the originals..

We don't know yet. They haven't commented on the specific details of platform performance yet.
Guess the faster speeds of the spells and unites is a consequence of optimizing the same animations for stronger hardware. They may have to purposely slow it down to match the slowdown in the original games. A 50% reduction applied to these spells matches the slowdown of the originals almost exactly, give or take a bit depending on the spell being cast. That's compared to the original PSX release, of course. The PSP version handled slowdown better, so spells were faster on it.

Slow? It took less than a minute, and that's only because all characters were using runes. You'll have the option of doubling or quadrupling the battle speed if you want it even faster.
I hope it has Hard Mode, Suikoden series are always easy. Only IV that's somewhat a bit not easy.
Suikoden IV is not easy but its quite easy to raise everyone except Reinhold to level 99.
Just restrict yourself from double beat rune , boost rune and power rune it should be ok. But yes the dev need to up their game about suiko power scaling

Nah IV was alright, it was III that was the hard one when come unprepared, not setting up skills for the party and once you die, you go back to the save point.

It was just a developer showcase to show off spells. Plus, some people don't pick characters based on stats, but rather how much they like the character.

We have no idea if the Sega Saturn content is being added to Suikoden 1, but it's unlikely that it will be. Don't hold your breath.

Final bell, shredding, thor shot look worse. They dont look bad, but the original ones just looked way better imo. Outside some spells, everything else looks good.

They haven't said anything about difficulty options yet. It's possible they may be included, as they do appear to be listening to fan feedback. But as of now, there's no official announcement.

I defeat this boss on 1 turn. also why give viktor spell rune and nanami lightning rune? nanami could fail using lightning rune.. and why khan in front and sierra in the back?
It was game footage created by the developers themselves. They were just showcasing off different magic.
@@CulganValya yes. it's more likely spell showcase. maybe they use them so the boss looks a bit more hard too, so it poses some challenge. i mean it won't be interesting to watch if the boss is down in a turn. and it seems that their weapon also doesn't get upgraded.

we need remake, not remaster.
Im not a fan and my opinion is: that menu sfx is so disturbing, specially knowing it will come up at least 12 times per turn... there are too many white screens. Yeah, japan loved to do those in that time (square enix still does up to this day). White flashes are known to lightly burn your retines over time. So, yeah, youre gonna need thicker glasses lens after playing years of games like these. Although the graphics are good, because of these factors my answer is no.

Window and Tenkou should be playing the same role as the originals. Bring them window settings and they allow us to change the ui.
