My old PS1 and PS2 have long since broken so I can no longer play them but I still have my copies of the two Lunar games sitting on my game shelf with all my modern games. They hold a special place in my heart so I want them where I can always see them. I just pray they don't get censorship-happy with this remastered collection.
Get an OG ps3. The newer ones just don't play ps2 games, so you're fine with that too if you don't have ps2 games to play. I do feel lunar touch did more improvements than this will do for way less. Hope lunar 2 is available digitally separately. Hopefully they took away the menu ticks. I doubt fighting through the darkness will be there. Oh I'll avoid given grandia resume given tons of bug fixes and g1 didn't even have a hard mode with grandia 2's hard mode being laughable (just a bit more hp) outside maybe 1 boss.
@@MrVariantmy PS2 is in storage and I gave the PS1 to my little brother…but I found out my PS3 has that feature and I was so happy bc I wanted to play my old games again❤
I remember playing Silver Star on the PS1. It doesn't get enough love, but i can see why. It came out two years after Final Fantasy VII, and it was released at the end of the Playstation's life cycle. It'll be fun to come back to it after all these years, especially since I never got around to playing Eternal Blue.
Never played the Lunar games during their original release, but I did play the PS1 version and loved it. I later got it on the PSP and Vita. Great game nice to hear that it is finally getting a remaster. I will definitely pick this one up.
So excited about this. It's one of my favorite rpgs ever. I remember a friend showing off Eternal Blue on Sega CD and being blown away by the 10 minute long cutscene. I played through Silver Star on Sega CD and ps1 as well as Eternal Blue. I am a huge fan of the series and have amassed quite the Lunar collection over the years.
I’ve played the ps1 version of lunar 2 eternal blue but I wasn’t able to finish it. I played lunar 1 on Game boy Advance and man I fell in love with it. I am just so happy they’re bringing back both lunar 1 and 2 and this time as a remastered collection. I can’t wait to stream and play them on my ps5 😁
While Most of the Working Designs actors/actresses ARE still alive since that company no longer exists odds are both PS1 lunar games as a PS4 PS5 Switch remaster won't use the same voice cast but possibly still KEEP Jenny Stingle for singing the opening theme and the boat song for Lunar 1 at least even if she doesn't voice Ruby and Jean in the Eternal Blue remaster.
Maaaan, I've been going nuts for the last few days over the Lunar news, then you go and just mention Vay in passing and I had to run to show my fiancee the opening of Vay and she's like "no! please! I don't need to understand your childhood!" but maaaaaaaan I'd love to see Vay again, too.
I remember seeing ads for Lunar in Electronic Gaming Monthly when it first came out & loving the anime style graphics, which was fairly new to us in America at the time. It will be awesome to finally be able to try it! 😎
I’m stoked to play these again. These rank in my top five of jrpgs as a kid. Phantasy Star 4 FF7 and 6 are up there as well. Too many good ones to list. Glad to play these again.
I have the original re-release on PS1 of the first game (along with Harmony and Touch) but missed out on the chance to buy the second…and have been kicking myself ever since. The moment I heard it was finally getting some love I wanted to cry🥺 for sure I am buying this collection!
The boss leveling looks interesting from the ios. I know that enemies probably have some arbitrary recommended level per location, but bosses would scale to Alex's level, so I couldn't really level grind without being punished for it, at least until level 50. I've only played the PS1 version of Silver Star Story and not Eternal Blue though, so I do not know of any other versions. I look forward to seeing what bosses are like if they aren't scaled to Alex's level. I felt like that feature held the game back as I like to get super overpowered in JRPGs.
I'm probably going to stick to the classic graphics, my big hope is that there's at least a scanlines filter. That's going to complete the look for the classic style.
I played Eternal Blue on Sega CD when I was a kid, but my only solid memories of it are the PS1 version. I’ve never played The Silver Star on Sega CD. I heard it’s very different.
Lunar: Silver Star Story Touch is also available in android devices, since you only mentioned ios in the video. Very excited for the remasters and like you, I'm hoping they don't hit us with what they did to Grandia.
Thanks man showing the extra's from the mobile was helpful. I was hoping they would of included the Sega CD version and its original route and usage of the original soundtrack too as it's different from the remake version in PSX. Over at RPG fan they showed off some screenshots of the battle and sadly the backgrounds in the battle is not good compared to the original but the backgrounds for the game looks fine. For some reason there's a blur filter at the top and bottom of the screen which I hope that can be turned off. I wonder if the original voices can be placed back in in some MOD if there isn't so many changes in this release as I really like Luna's English voice.
Actually, Lunar Silver Star Story Remastered is an upscaled port of the PSP release, Silver Star Harmony, based on the graphics. It looks like they're giving Lunar 2 the same graphical revamp used by Silver Star Harmony.
I'm dying for this when it releases on the Xbox. I played the ORIGINAL release on the SegaCD. Still have my copy, but sadly no console to play the disc. I never had the chance to play the second game. Now, 30+ years later I can finally enjoy the first turn-base game that blew me away so many years ago again!! I'm hoping that Saturn mode you're showing is very similar to the SEGA CD mode. Most likely I'll be playing the retro classic versions first. And then the remastered modes on a second playthrough sometime later.
I hope they can add some variety to the combat lines, because hearing Nash go "Check this out" "Check this out" "Check this out" "Check this out" got old pretty fast.
I was excited to hear this was getting a remaster and collection at that 😎👌 so many people were down on the state of play but it had a little bit of everything? And I enjoyed that. These upgraded features remind me of the ones they gave to the final fantasy pixel remaster, so it is grest to see 👏 hyped for this as ps1 is still my favorite system and the one I started my playstation journey with.
I played the PS1 versions. I never played the later remakes for the simple fact that only Silver Star Story was adapted and it did not feel right without Eternal Blue. So pretty much I can't wait to play them again and 100% them again.
I foolishly traded in my copy of Silver Star Complete for Legend of Dragoon when that came out. Whoops. Really pleased to see the Remaster coming along soon, I hope there's a physical edition coming even if it wouldn't be as fully packed as the PS1 Silver Star package was.
EB was the red headed stepchild? Man, that was the one that got me to buy a Sega CD. TSS was quite a bit different in terms of gameplay. The remasters are a lot closer to EB except for the removal of random encounters and boss scaling. The Borgan fight in the original EB was brutal, coming after a long dungeon with no chance to resupply.
The only reason I call EB that is because of the amount of time TSS had been remade while EB just sits there, it was lame. I really need to look into emulating the Sega CD versions, I played EB but don’t really remember it.
Correct Eternal Blue only had the original + PS1 remake and that' about it the First game was on the Sega CD got the PS1 remake Lunar Legend added in dungeons not from either the original or the PS1 version but the PSP version of Lunar 1 KEPT the extra dungeon from the PSP version intact. But in Lunar Legend you access the White Dragon Cave via a Forest dungeon and the White Dragon cave in Lunar Legend is just a single map the screen with the White Dragon Quark in it and it isn't a full length dungeon. the PSP version of Lunar 1 changed the map layouts of a lot of dungeons starting with Merbia Sewers.
I beat my best friend's copy of Silver Star Story, and I either played part of another friend's copy of Eternal Blue for Sega CD or I watched him play part of it but this will be the first time I've owned them.
i never beat lunar 2, I reached the final boss and idk why i quit the game this was when I was still in high school wtf was I thinking back then. Can't wait to replay these classics again on pc

Working designs localization is gonna be make or break for me. They didn't change the main story, but they took so much liberty with the non important NPCs that made them all hilarious and worth talking to. If they go for a more direct translation instead and the NPCs are boring to talk to, lol I want nothing to do with it.
Yeah, but Chrono Trigger got several re-releases on Steam and Nintendo DS. Dragon Quest 8 also got released on 3DS. Castlevania SOTN got a re-release on PS4 by LRG and was also on Mobile phones, Steam, even on PSP. I don't think everything needs an "HD Remaster" in the sense that the assets have to be remastered. A simple current re-release is just as good.

However the IOS boosts for Enemy stats exp boost etc will likely NOT make it into the Lunar Console remaster at all but it would still be NICE if you COULD 4x exp since its very hard to lv up in the final dungeon around lv 45 IF you wanted a lv 99 party IN Lunar one.
It's a shame no one will remaster the original game. I didn't like Silver Star Story/ Silver Star Story Complete nearly as much as the original. The additions always felt like subtractions to me. Learning how to play the game early on without having access to healing. Getting your initial two characters to learn how to survive for a good bit before picking up additional companions. Always felt like a lot more harrowing and heroic of a journey.
I played the game on sega CD first. And when i played complete it felt like it was such an upgrade … except for a bit of the story. Jean’s story is amazing i won’t spoil it here but the difference on her quest to get the blue dragon spirit there was a lot more dialogue on the PlayStation but it took so much from her unnecessarily it was such a BS retcon. Rather than being her own creation now her style was magically given to her …. Ugh. It’s hard to explain but i hope the story is revamped sure but i hope they don’t do her dirty like that again. Maybe just use the dialogue from the sega CD
I remember Lunar Silver Star Harmony on PSP that was a better remake then this. The character s were bigger and they had voice over in attacks as well! I wish they would of stayed with that kind of remake! Especially for Lunar 2 which is my favorite.
It did but the LAST boss in the PSP version has a instant game over attack (it automatically kills the entire party) I tried to use White Dragon Protect to null that game over move it doesn't work and most of the time the instant game over move triggers before Alex gets his turn while Mia in the PSP version has a LIMIT break version of White Dragon Protect even IT doesn't null the instant game over attack. But luckily in the PSP version the instant game over move IS rarely used so its possible to beat the game without the final boss using it.

I find myself getting less and less excited about any new games that come out with each passing year. At this point, I'd prefer they just keep remastering games like Lunar. Wouldn't say no to a remastered Suikoden collection.
Any western BS in the western localization? Do we get the option for the OG Sega CD/Saturn and PlayStation 1 English dub? Cause I can't stand Nal's PSP re-dub VA.
Yeah a ton of bs in the remake for PSX by Working Design unfortunately. Western cultural bs was inserted. I also remember them adding to some weird char and they had him fart I do not think it was in the Japanese version. Some of the translations was just off. Weirdly some people liked it though I am not sure if these are the same types who enjoy that same bs in today's media. To me, the game is tolerable only because of Luna and the English voice wasn't bad either to listen to. The game isn't easy either.
LOVE Lunar series. It’s pretty hard even when you level up normally, imagine turning off random battles and even boss exp and trying to do a low level challenge run. I think you’d get absolutely pulverized by later bosses.
That depends on the PS1 version the bosses had their HP boosting by Alex's lv not everyone else the IOS/Android ONLY version has a OPTION to turn the LV boost of bosses by Alex's exp LV OFF making them easiler to kill though below lv 45 most of the final bosses moves IF you turned ALL non boss fights off you would likely not survive even 1 turn.
First ever JRPG I played was Lunar on Sega CD

It's just sad nobody is even remotely asking for the original PS1 voice acting. Even in the trailer he calls Luna, lunar. Like this is pathetic
